Make sure to read Art of Death first! This is Abel’s perspective on the events in that story which is told from the viewpoint of his twin, Rowan.
Take all your favorite supernatural beings, plunk them into an action packed story about twins, prophecy and mix in some coming-of-age and you have this story. I LOVED it. I adore Rowan, but Abel has my heart just the same. Vampires, Necromancers, Ghosts – this series has them all and the mythology the author has constructed around them is top notch.
I stayed up late finishing Art of Death and then stayed up even later because I couldn’t stop until I read this one too.
So much recommend!
I think everyone who’s read the first book in this series has been dying for Abel’s story. At the end of Art of Death, we are left with so many questions about him. We know he’s super hot, is Rowan’s twin, and he’s got wicked cool abilities and that he was missing, which is what made his twin sister leave home in the first place. But we have no idea where he was that she couldn’t find him. This is the story of his parallel journey in the city.
Abel knows he and his sister are in trouble when she starts acknowledging a ghost she meets where she works. As twin necromancers approaching their 21st birthday, they understand they will be coming into their full powers. But his sister is the first female necromancer born since the curse was placed on their family by a rival necromancer family. And when Abel discovers the secrets his parents have been keeping that could more than endanger his sister, he realizes he must go in search of answers. What he find is more trouble than he needs, and a world where everything is not as it seems.
It is absolutely necessary to read the first book in the series to understand the way Abel’s mind works and the reasoning behind every move he makes. This story is filled with werewolves, vampires, witches, fae, and all sorts of other creatures one never expects to run into in their everyday life. It’s exciting and frightening, action packed and steamy, and and edge-of-your-seat read that had me reading it in one sitting because I needed to know what would happen next. This author has a way of pulling us into her stories and keeping us captive. I am absolutely looking forward to the next book in the series.
*You need to read Art of the Dead (Curse Breakers Book 1) first. Book 1 is told from Rowan’s perspective while Book 2 is simultaneously happening and is told from Rowan’s twin, Abel’s, POV.
Necromancers, vampires, and witches, oh my! Abel’s story is an action packed thrill ride with a few unexpected twists thrown into the mix. As it is quite the page turner, I devoured it in a day.
Usually I am drawn to the MC in a story, but in Secrets of the Dead, Acacia really grabbed my attention. The girl has a story to tell and I can’t wait to hear it.
Once again Becca Vincenza has created a cast and story that I have fallen for. I am anxiously waiting for the next book in this series.
Abel’s adventure
Devoured this story, its defiantly my favourite series by Becca Vincenza. This book focus on Abel and his journey to protect his twin Rowan the timeline runs parallel to Art of Death. Can’t wait for the next book in the series to learn what happens next to the twins
