SECRETS NEVER DIE (Morgan Dane Book 5) by Melinda Leigh is a romantic suspense/PI mystery. I cannot get enough of Morgan, Lance and the whole cadre of secondary characters. The only reason I put this book down was because I had to go to work.
Tina Knox comes home from work to find her husband, a retired sheriff shot dead in the den and her teenage son, Evan missing. Tina calls PI Lance Kruger for help because her son is on Lance’s hockey team for at risk teens. As the evidence begins to come together, Evan goes from being considered a missing person to the prime suspect.
Lance and Morgan work together to locate Evan and find evidence to prove him innocent. Just when the trail goes cold, another deputy goes missing. Is his disappearance connected?
Also, Lance and Morgan do not believe that Tina is telling them the whole truth. What is she hiding and is it connected?
Lance and Morgan fear Evan is the killer’s target. Will they be able to find Evan alive and unravel family secrets that put everyone in jeopardy?
Once again, Morgan and Lance go all out to prove the innocence of their client. It is difficult to not give away secrets because I want everyone to see how clever Ms. Leigh is with her plotting. She gives you a fast-paced, page-turning, intense read with plot twists that always surprise me. Morgan and Lance’s relationship continues to develop and they are a powerhouse couple at home and on the job. I always look forward to catching up with all the secondary characters, also.
This is my favorite series by Ms. Leigh and I am going to be very sorry to see it end. Until then, I highly recommend this book and the whole series for great reads!
Melinda Leigh captivates! From the opening scene, the challenges of waking up in a horrifying situation with no idea how you’d gotten there or what had happened was vivid and crystal clear. Imagine the terror of being accused of a heinous crime and not knowing yourself if you were guilty or innocent. That’s the situation, and unraveling the mysteries to find answers that lead to the revelation–guilt or innocence–is an adventure to experience.
Morgan is a defense attorney, has three little girls and is a widow. Lance is a PI and Morgan’s boyfriend. They work together in the same office because she uses Lance’s company when she needs an investigator. When a teenage boy is accused of murdering his stepfather, a former deputy, he goes on the run. Morgan and Lance will do anything to find him first and help clear his name. When several secrets are revealed can they save the boy before something bad happens?
First time reading this author and it was great. Suspense and action. It will keep you on the edge of your seat. Don’t want to give too much away that’s why it’s so short.
* Voluntarily read and reviewed this for Netgalley *
I LOVE the Morgan Dane series by Melinda Leigh. Each book gets better and better as you grow to know Morgan, Lance, and Sharp and their families. While there is some romance as Morgan and Lance’s relationship develops, it’s clean and not over the top. The murder mystery has you guessing until the end. And you are in for a rollercoaster ride of twists and turns. I am anxiously waiting for the next installment.
Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake Romance for my advanced review copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own.
I have read all of the Morgan Dane series except for book 6. This book was my least favorite. It did not hold my interest. The other books I couldn’t put down and sped right through them. This one dragged on and jumped around. I am going to read book 6. I have loved the series except for this book. I am hoping book 6 has a great ending to the series.
THIS REVIEW IS FOR BOTH THE AUDIOBOOK AND EBOOK VERSIONS
Great plot, wonderful characters plenty of action scenes, emotional scenes and suspense. Keeps you on the edge of your seat. Narration was wonderfully preformed and I recommend this book.
Morgan and Lance save the day again. When one of his hockey players goes on the run, they are left to prove his innocence.
Sharp is opening his heart to Olivia. And Morgan’s girls once again stole my heart.
I really enjoy this series. I enjoy the evolution of the characters going on in the background while every plot in the series is different and springs something new on the reader. Melinda Leigh is good at introducing technical terms that the reader might not know. It’s not an info dump but merely a short sentence to clarify.
I cannot get enough of this series! It’s fast paced, entertaining, and very well written. I cant wait to start the next one!
Another outstanding and compelling story that takes Morgan and Lance on an extensive search to find Evan, the young man thats on Lances hockey team. Evan comes home late one night to find his step father shot in the stomach, being held at gun point. Things don’t get much easier for poor Evan as he is chased by not only a killer, but the cops through the woods and being painted as a criminal, a suspect. His mother is beside herself, bringing Morgan and Lance on from the very beginning. Action-packed, adrenaline inducing read that will leave you guessing and confused until the very end. You won’t want to miss this latest in the world of Morgan, Lance and Sharp, who by the way had an interesting storyline of his own going on!
I want to read Morgan Dane books at least until Sophie gets married and Lance walks her down the isle!
Oh boy, what a wild ride that was!
Morgan, Lance and crew are back at it and the pace races from start to finish! These People are so easy to follow and love, their exploits and those around them just pull you in.
Morgan Dane and Lance Kruger have become the “it” couple of solving mysteries and crimes.. But in an interesting twist Lincoln Sharp and reporter Olivia Cruz seem to be now working their way to “it” couple.
The crime in this book is about a retired sheriff’s deputy who is shot dead in his home. The person of interest is his stepson. His mother is the one that calls in Lance and Morgan for help knowing her son is innocent but as the story moves along is it clear to see the secrets of the past are coming for payback.
Being this far into the series I love how Morgan and Lance’s relationship has progressed. The easy camaraderie between them and their full trust of each other. Their tenacity when they get a case and fighting for the victims makes for a great story.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Melinda Leigh!!!
This series just keeps getting better and better. The characters are awesome even if you root for them to die!
There’s murder, torture, mayhem, and everything else you’ve come to expect from Melinda.
Can’t wait to see what’s up next…maybe Sharp and Olivia?
I love this series! Melinda does a great job creating characters that make you feel like they are you’re best friends. The story was filled with lots of intense and edge of your seat content. Never really knowing who the suspect is till the very end, makes this entire series amazing. I love trying to figure it all out on my own, to only be completely surprised with the outcome. I am looking forward to book 6.
Leigh delivers with Secrets Never Die.
Continuing characters make for a seamless read from previous books in the series. This story is engaging and has plenty of twists and turns to keep suspense lovers turning the pages.
I highly recommend this book to fans of the genre.
Amazing story! I was hooked from the first page!
A Teenager comes home late after curfew hoping he won’t get in too much trouble. Once he walks in, he realizes something is definitely wrong. From that point on, his life will never be the same.
This is a story of survival, loyalty, and unrelenting persistence. Morgan and Lance will do everything in their power to find the truth and protect the innocent. Their relationship is the only thing that keeps them motivated as they work together in this their most difficult case.
I am purposely not being too specific because this is a book the needs to be experienced by the reader. No spoilers here. If you like murder mysteries that are fast-paced, this book is for you.
I thank the publisher for sharing a copy of this book with me. I am voluntarily reviewing this book.
I am absolutely obsessed with Melinda Leigh’s Morgan Dane Series. I highly recommend this series if you are looking for an action packed novel with so many twists and turns, you can’t stop reading until you have finished the whole book. I am looking forward to the sixth book in the series coming this September. Leigh never disappoints.
*I read this book on my kindle unlimited subscription, it is also available through Prime Reading for of those of you with Amazon Prime.*
Another great addition to the Morgan Dane series. Melinda Leigh is always solid in her writing and plot development. Her characters are strong and dynamic enough to carry through this long-standing series. While this book, itself, is the fifth installment of the Morgan Dane collection, it can be read as a stand-alone. Leigh always does a fantastic job at bridging the gap between each book with enough contextual information to allow the reader the freedom to pick up with the series at any given point. This was a good read with just a slight amount of violence portrayed in the writing. Overall decent read. 4 stars.
Secrets Never Die was a very suspenseful book. I was on edge guessing through out the book. The Audible version is great. The narrator does a great job! Well done Melinda Leigh.
