Unputdownable!!
While this is a little different from other books I have read by Ms. Eddy, that’s a good thing. It shows “depth” as a writer. With good characters and a great story-line, my attention was kept from beginning to end.
*I received an Advance Reader’s Copy via HiddenGems which I am voluntarily reviewing*
Nicola wants vampires and humans to coexist which means vampires not using humans as blood banks, unfortunately for him just like everything there are others like him as well as humans who don’t like each other. On the night he is captured he meets a young girl who wasn’t afraid of him and thats what keeps him alive for 18 years of torture and experiments only to find out he is the daughter of his torturer. Eve lost her faith in her fathers teaching after meeting Nicola and she decides its finally time to escape, from here secrets are revealed, twists are exposed and many layers of deceit are exposed with some leaving you with your jaw dropped. Fantastic world building goes on in this book as well as characters you either love ie Eve, Nicola, Sylvie or hate ie … well you have to read it to find out and thankfully book 2 is available to read straight after this!
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This was my first read of Patricia D. Eddy but it won’t be my last. I loved the different take on vampires vs humans. Poor Evangeline is beyond sheltered and has no clue about the real world. Surrounded by hate and violence she somehow retains a good heart and a sense of right and wrong.
Nic, has spent his entire vampire life helping and saving humans. He was even one of the founders for the laws protecting humans. He’s been trapped, tortured, brought to near death so many times he welcomes it.
One that looks forward to death and one that only wants freedom.
It was a great story that I couldn’t put down.
I found the book very enjoyable. It starts out slow but picks up quickly. There was enough background to each character to get them in place. I found myself very invested in the characters and really liked all of them. The sex scenes were done very tastefully and it wasn’t overdone at all. There is a story that will break your heart nd have you smiling. I read this as an ARC book but will be reading more of the author.

**RECEIVED ARC FOR HONEST REVIEW**
Wow, I mean WOW. I could not put this book down. The characters, vampire or human, are believable. You can understand the animosity, the racism, the desire for enslavement. Themes that our mortal societies have endured for thousands of years. Very well written in an easy, flowing vernacular that helps the reader feel as if they are a part of the world they are reading about. Oh, can’t forget those steamy scenes. Wow. Can I get me one of these vampires? Love it. Ready to read book 2.
This book was ahhhmazing! It has a great story and the characters are well developed and easy to love or hate! This is not your typical vampire story and it is full of twists… I could not put it down and it seemed to be over in no time. BOOO. lol ok so I am definitely looking forward to the next in the series! This cover is ok. I looked at some of the older ones and I really like the one with Eva and Nic where she is holding her Bow.
I was gifted an ARC in return of an honest review.
I love discovering new authors!! This was my first book by Patricia Eddy and I can say that it definitely won’t be my last. I was hooked within the first few pages and found it nearly impossible to put down. It was intriguing and very exciting. I’m really looking forward to finding out what happens next.
This was one of those books that just captivates and you can’t put it down.
Such a beautiful original love story.
It’s wonderful when you find yourself so wrapped up in the characters, that you feel for what they’re going through, down to your soul.
It was simply amazing and I’m so happy I don’t have to wait at all for book 2… fewf!
Highly recommended!!!
