This book is Melissa Foster at her best. Amy & Tony have a secret. They’ve been besties for a long time & everyone thinks they’d make a cute couple. They all know that Amy has been in love with Tony forever. However, there’s a tragedy in their past that they just can’t get over. Amy has a job opportunity that will force her to move away so she decides to give Tony one more chance. Tony has been in love with Amy since they were teenagers. He’s hoping they can get beyond their past to create their future together.
I loved this book! It has great characters that invoke the reader’s sympathy from the beginning. The plot & dialogue touch the reader’s emotions – happiness, grief, despair, anger, passion, sense of family. All are represented in various parts of the story. This is a great addition to the series!!
Addison Cole’s Secrets at Seaside is a heartfelt romance filled with secrets and surprises. The second chance theme sets this story apart from the other books in the series and creates a sense of drama from the first page of the novel.
Amy Maples and Tony Black had a sexual relationship when they were teenagers. Their romance was private, special and a secret from their Seaside friends and their families. Their relationship ended abruptly. Neither Amy nor Tony recovered emotionally from the break up. They care deeply for each other however, now their relationship is strictly platonic.
Amy has sat on the sidelines for the past few summers as she has watched her friends: Leanna, Bella, Jenna and Jamie find happiness and love. The Seaside friends attend Jamie and Jessica’s wedding. The wedding is a turning point for Amy; she realizes that she needs to take steps to change her career and love life. Amy accepts a job in Australia. This choice impacts Amy, the Seaside sisters and Tony. Amy realizes that she needs to come to terms with her feelings for Tony before she leaves.
The author does a fabulous job presenting both characters feelings, emotions and reactions by using the third person narrative in the novel. Ms. Foster’s decision enabled me to understand both characters perspectives. Also, this narrative technique added to the depth and intensity of emotions. Amy and Tony had unresolved feelings about their past that needed to be explored and dealt with honestly.
There were several stand out scenes in the book. I loved the scene when Amy comes clean with her relationship with Tony to Leanna, Bella and Jenna. Ms. Foster captures each characters reaction to the news perfectly, the reader can imagine Leanna’s looks of concern and acceptance and hear Bella’s blunt questioning of Amy’s story. I loved the traditional and magical elements that were woven into the last few chapters of the novel.
All of the books in the Seaside Summers series can be read as standalone novels. The second chance at romance, the secrets and the deep personal connection between the characters in Secrets at Seaside appealed to me.
Secrets at Seaside is a sweet with heat book—however, Amy and Tony’s journey is very romantic and passionate!
A love that’s lost can be reborn. Just ask Tony and Amy. Secrets at Seaside is a haunting tale of tragedy, triumph and second chances. Attraction brought together the star surfer and the shy girl next door, but heartbreaking secrets and mistrustful feelings tanked their chance at a real and everlasting love. Will the glow of the summer sun, provide the perfect backdrop for a new beginning complete with a happy ending? The hallmark of a good romance are the moments to cherish from beginning to end. Heat has nothing on heart. Ms. Cole made sure to deliver an equal amount of both.
This was a series that you just want to keep reading. Amy had been a character for a number of books and I was just really excited to find out if she got back with Tony and what the real story was. It was happy and sad. It was warm and endearing. Great characters and always eager for more of Melissa Foster.
Secrets at Seaside is the fifth book in the Sweet with Heat: Seaside Summers series. A group of friends meet at their Cape Cod cottages. They both want to reconnect, but Tony and Amy share a past that just might be too much to overcome. I really enjoyed this story and narrator. This author never fails to keep me reading longer than intended. I definitely recommend this book.
Did not care for this book. Very long and draw out and an ending that just seemed to be thrown together.
Great summer on the beach read!!
Perfect Summer reading series. Mostly light, sometimes funny, sometimes serious subjects.
I guess I’m too old for this book! The characters didn’t behave in what I think a 30+ year old should. It took forever to solve the main issue and I often wished they would move on and “get over it”.
Loved this book!! I read two from the series and loved them both!! Humor, love and all the ingredients that make for a good story!
If you have not read previous books in this series you have been missing out on the fun and summer love. While these books leave out the graphic aspects, the sizzle remains.
Amy is the sweetheart of the group, proper and always there for her friends. While she may flirt, she only has eyes for one man, or rather surfer.
Tony has always treated Amy with the most respect. He’s a great friend but has never seemed to push for more. Tony is often seen with beautiful women, never the same one for long.
What the rest of this close knit group doesn’t know is that Tony and Amy have a secret past.
This is so shocking because we can’t imagine any secrets between these girls – closer than sisters. And this secret is HUGE. How could sweet little Amy keep one this important from them. She worries that they will not forgive her.
All the romance that you expect from an Addison Cole novel plus the emotions that come with finally sharing something that has major impact on how Amy has lived her life. It takes some time before she gets her HEA.
Oh Addison Cole, you write such amazing stories with wonderful characters. The Seaside Girls are my favorite friendship ever. They are so strong, sweet, and naughty. They pull pranks, tell secrets to each other, love each other, and love their men so deeply. Each time I pick up a Sweet with Heat: Seaside Summer book I know that I will get to catch up with women.
Whispers at Seaside is the story of Professor Matt Lacroux and single mother Mira Savage. The instant chemistry between Matt and Mira is off the charts. There is no doubt that they belong together but there is also Hagen. Hagen is the best character in the story. As Mira’s son he is the most important person in Mira’s life and anyone who wants to be friends with Mira must be friends with her son. Matt comes in and becomes friends with Hagen from the very beginning, he includes him in discussions, dates, and activities without being put out (heart melting).
This book in the series is now my favorite. Matt Lacroux won be over just by his interactions with Hagen. The heat is perfect, the sweetness is wonderful, and the love is just right.
Loved it
He wasn’t too much. He was everything…………
“You can’t fix the Past. You can only accept it, maybe try to understand it as best you can, and find a way to move forward and leave it where it belongs. In the past.”
How can you push away the only person you ever loved?
She loved him since they were kids, she desired him since they were teenagers, and she pushed him away since she was broken……
Secret lovers, drama ,heartbreaks and love , tons of love. You want it, Addison delivers it well !
Two hearts destroyed by the past, sadness and guilt but that keeps on beating strong for each other hiding under a strong friendship. Could you love someone deeply without telling them and everytime you are near them your heart would jump right out of your chest? That’s Amy and Tony.
Your heart will melt, beat and feel all at once! You will feel them balancing the past, the present and the future in a whirlwind of raw emotions.
They need to clear the past, start over with a clean slate to better their future without any resentment, hurtful feelings nor confusion. Start fresh; be there for one another for comfort and support but dealing with it on their own terms.
Turns of events I never suspected and I’m glad because it kept me on edge and stopped me from putting this amazing book down.
A book you will close and keep a moment to yourself to take it all in.
The seaside girls once again made me cry and laugh and dream about being a part of their crazy little pack!
There is nothing like sweet sexy read to get you through a long slow weekend. I have to say that it did not last the whole weekend like I was intending for it. I sat down to read and finished the whole thing the first night of the weekend. But I had a great weekend. The read did allow for me to have a great romance in my head and something sweet to think about. There was emotional pain, joy, sadness, happiness. Sweet journey to a reconnection between Tony and Amy. She went through a lot to get her happy ever after. Sweet molasse romance that has a few deviations from the norm, but a romance that has been in the making for many years. Come watch Tony and Amy find each other again and navigate the pain of the past.
Getting to know these two characters was super easy. Relating to them both was a joy. Feeling their pain and sorrow of the lost chance was emotional. Watching their journey back to each other was the icing on the 7-layre cake.
Absolutely wonderful story with characters that are relatable, loving, sexy and fun. I truly enjoyed this sweet read. Beautiful story.
Addison Secrets at Seaside Cole writes wonderfully moving, sweet with heat romance novels. Her characters are real, honest and fun people who you would want as your friends. Secrets at Seaside is the 5th book in the Seaside Series. Secrets can be read as a stand-alone, but it makes a more enjoyable reading experience if read in series order.
I fell in love with both characters – Amy Maples is beautiful, sugar and spice; Tony Black is handsome, protective and a good friend to Amy. He was her true knight in shining armor until something happened when they were young that drove them apart. Since then, Amy and Tony have held a secret for fourteen years. For Amy, she knows a grief no woman wants and for Tony, he lives with a guilt that he can never shake.
Simply said, Addison Cole wrote a love story that affected me deeply. I was all in from the first page until the last. My emotions ran the gamut from happiness, to grief, to swooning in love. I had tears in my eyes, which threatened to overflow at a moment’s notice.
As you know, Addison Cole doesn’t write her books leaving you with a cliffhanger, so you will be rewarded with one special treat at the end!
I highly recommend Secrets at Seaside, so gather your tissues and settle in for a love story that is certainly sweet with heat!
I received a copy of Secrets at Seaside for an honest review.
I have read a few of Rachelle Ayala’s books in the past and have so many I want to read, but this one really stood out for me. Bella is a young woman, living on her own with a manic cat, she is also a twin to her sister Tally. They may be sisters, they may be twins but one thing makes them different from each other – Bella has cerebral palsy. This story is all about her breaking free from her sisters shadow, standing on her own two feet and showing the world that she can make it on her own despite her disability.
Never in her wildest dreams did she think she would fall in love with the bad boy next door though! Chance Martin, he is Bella’s brother in law, and not only that but he has spent time in prison, the reason as to what he was in for is being bantered about the town as gossip and whilst it is not initially known, Bella accepts him for who he is and in Chance’s own way he accepts her for who she is as well.
Chance came over as a bit of an numpty acting all gruff and mean, but really deep down he didn’t think he was deserving of anyone’s love, let alone Bella’s. I loved their interactions with each other, and their story and how strong Bella was as a character in overcoming her overbearing family who although they were only looking out for her best interest they were treating her almost like a child due to her disability – but boy did she prove them all wrong.
Bella & Chance are the complete opposite yet compliment each other perfectly, their story shows that love doesn’t discriminate.
