Cassie wants out of her magical life, but magic isn’t prepared to let her go – and neither is Evan Blackwood. She owes him her life, making it difficult for her to deny him anything he really wants. And he wants her. She tries avoiding him, but when two teenagers disappear from a local summer camp, they must work together if they hope to find the girls alive. The search reignites an old feud … feud between the Scots and the Blackwoods. Cassie’s sympathies are not with her parents, who kicked her out and refuse to accept her desire for a non-magical life. As her family falls apart around her, Evan becomes her rock, but long-buried secrets threaten to destroy everything.
Cassie may be the only one who can save the missing girls, her family – and herself.

This review is for the audio book.
I really enjoyed this book. I like the complex family life that help as well as hinder Cassie’s life, making for an interesting story and I liked find out more about her family’s magic. The plot for the mystery kept you guessing who had kidnapped the girls and how magic was going to be involved. This book continues from were book one left off and I think the series is one you need to listen to in order just to fully understand what is happening (it is lightly covered in this book but better explained in Book one) and also because it is a great book. I am off to start book three, it is that good, normally I would have another book in between but I want to see what happens next.
Cassie is still struggling with being disowned by her family but she isn’t the only one, the rest of the family is falling apart without her and when a magical family self-destructs it can be deadly. Can they come together and sort out there differences?
At the same time a distant cousin has gone missing from a summer camp with her best friend, who just happens to be related to bad boy Evan. When even Evan’s powerful magic can’t find them he turns to Cassie and her normal investigating skills for help. Can Evan and Cassie deny there attraction and work together to find the missing girls before they turn up dead.
I liked the narrator and found she had plenty of skill to give each character there own voice.
Oh how I just Love Cassie! She has just the perfect amount of sassiness and strength beyond what you would expect. I love this series so far and the twists that you don’t see coming are great! Hopefully we get more answers in the next in this series.
I loved this supernatural mystery read. A fast paced read that is a real page turner. I loved this audio the Narrator does a fantastic job. The Author has brought forth an epic read with this second book in the series. I love putting together puzzle like reads like this one and it didn’t disappoint. It had me on the edge of my seat. I felt like I was watching them through my minds eye invisioning the scenes there written so well and come out fantastic in this audio. A definite must listen.

My Thoughts – 5 out of 5 unicorns – I loved it!
Okay first things first, Christine is a sweetie and gifted this super early ARC because I loved book 1! YAY!!! (insert girly squeal here) This book was no different because I absolutely loved it! There is only one thing that I didn’t like and that is the cliffhanger ending, but it was the logical place to stop (so stop hating before you start)! You learn all sorts of things about the Cassie’s family and Evan’s family even some things they wouldn’t like people to know. Christine’s writing style makes it easy to connect with the characters, and she has a knack for telling a story but making sure it is not predictable. I had no idea things were going to happen the way they did until I read it, and I’m usually pretty good at predicting what’s going to happen.
I highly recommend this series to everyone who would love a paranormal mystery. The only thing that is really sad is that I have to wait an extremely long time for the next book since this was a super early ARC. I definitely will continue reading this series!! LOVE IT!!!
