Secrets protect…but they also destroy. Allie Swift has a secret–one that has kept her from finding a Dom willing to take her where she longs to go, far beyond the slap-and-tickle approach of BDSM-lite, into the deep reaches of true sadomasochism. When she meets Liam on a BDSM personals site, she senses he’s different from the Doms she has been with before. His darkly compelling nature speaks … speaks directly to her submissive heart. Liam Byrne had it all–a great career, a hot body, and a submissive fiancée. That is, until a year ago when a head-on collision with a drunk driver shattered not only his leg, but also his life. Now Liam harbors an ominous secret, one that’s tearing him apart and causing him to hold the world, including Allie Swift, at arm’s length. As the intensity of the D/s exploration increases, Liam and Allie must confront their fears. Together they must decide if the bond they share is strong to survive bringing their secrets to light. Secrets is the first novel in Claire Thompson’s new edgy BDSM romance series: BDSM Connections. Prepare for a powerful, emotional experience.

Allie meets Liam online after a boring night at a dungeon with her friend. When she first signed up, she did not think much of it until Liam messaged her. He seemed great on paper so she thought why not chat with him. From there she realized this may just be who she was looking for.
Of course Liam has some issue with his recent car accident but it just may be Allie that can help him get through them.
This is the first book in a series but you can read them in any order.
I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading even more.
Audiobook version:

Allie is looking for a dom, when she gets admission to an exclusive website. She meets Liam online and they start communicating online since they are cross country from each other. Liam was hurt in an accident and doesn’t think he is good enough for Allie. Once they meet and start exploring BDSM they find just how far they can go. It was a very good read.
Phew!!
Allie and Liam, both disillusioned with their love life, both with more or less debilitating secrets, end up on the same online site, BDSMConnections.
And again it seems they are just wasting their time looking through numerous profiles and not finding the right person. Until they stumble upon each other and begin a dialog that quickly morphs into a steamy D/s relationship. After some lovingly meddlesome friends manage to have them meet in person, their smoldering online play dates take on a new dimension.
What follows is a palpitation inducing tale of seduction and submission.
A lovely BDSM romance featuring Allie and the tortured Liam. Allie has been in the lifestyle for years, but she’s been carrying around a huge weight that she has been unable to share. She meets Liam online through a quirky, serendipitous event. While the two click, Liam has a secret of his own. Through their amazing D/s journey together, they learn to trust, heal, and love in a spectacular fashion. I especially enjoyed Liam’s character, a strong Dominant whose past makes it difficult to be vulnerable and risk getting hurt, and yet he manages to gracefully match Allie’s courage. Beautifully written, with secondary characters I’d like to befriend!
With trust on your side… secrets can be held in safe hands.

Taking a chance that their online chemistry is something they would like to explore further, and with a little help from some wonderful, well meaning friends – Allie travels to Liam’s home state.

There are many layers and complexities, light hearted moments, which in turn evolves to the darker, intense scenes between both characters as they learn, they grow, they trust. With most intense journey’s, trust is paramount and that’s when one needs to let go of fears long held. Those very secrets closely held, are exposed. Secrets that are the fear of conveying inadequacies and sometimes its our actions and culpability at risk.
Claire weaves you a beautifully romantic, sexually dynamic, and highly detailed short story. Honest, refreshing and knowledgable. The first book in the BDSM Connection book. It is the story of Allie and Liam.
I really enjoyed the book, but it isn’t a book for everyone. Allie and Liam have a real intense power exchange relationship and the plays they love are a bit more on the heavier more dangerous side.
Having said that the connection between them is so strong and there is a lot of trust between them. Liam pushes Allie, but always keeps her safety and well being in check. Allie experiences things she was never able to before.
And what i enjoyed most in this book is that Liam struggles a lot with what happened to him in the past. He tries to be strong, but with Allie’s help and love his is finally able to heal. Support and strength goes two ways.
I enjoyed the book, but I felt like the writing was unnatural. People don’t talk that way. And the descriptions were written in the same style. Not too much deep thought from either of the main characters
This is not my favourite Claire Thompson book, it felt a little more like a sado-masochism primer than an erotic romance. In fact in the first half I didn’t like Liam at all, but when he arrived in Boston her redeemed himself and by the end of the book I was more comfortable with him. All that said, I did for the most part enjoy the book.
