I loved the story and the characters. I recommend the reading.
This story is a part of the very enjoyable House of Morgan series.
It can be read as a stand-alone but is more enjoyable experience if you read the books in order.
I thoroughly enjoyed this great romance from Ms Pinder
The characters were great and there are many twists and turns in the storyline.
The story is well written and enjoyable.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
All Charlotte ever wanted was to own her late father’s superstore one day. Charlotte is the quintessential Modern Day Cinderella. Her stepmother and stepsister treat her like a slave always ordering her around and playing dirty tricks on her. Her other stepsister Mickey treated her more kindly. But Charlotte was still miserable. Jack O’Connor has always been by Charlotte’s side and he was her best friend. Soon things will change once Jack discovers he is part of the infamous House Of Morgan family. He has always loved Charlotte but can she accept the new Jack or keep him forever in the friend zone? This latest House Of Morgan installment is delightful. I love Victoria’s writing in the way she describes the characters so vividly and always has a killer backstory. I highly recommend this book!
This is a very entertaining retake on the Cinderella story. It has drama, romance, mystery, sorrow and hardship. Then you add in The House of Morgan and you get even more! The storyline is well written and captivating; and will keep your interest with all it’s twist and turns. I enjoyed reading Jack and Charlotte’s story and can recommend this book.
What a great story. It didn’t take long to become emotionally involved with Charlotte and Jack. They were best friends but he always wanted more. A little modern day Cinderella in that she has an evil step-mother and step-sisters. Her only dream is to one day collect on her inheritance from her father that has been taken over by the evil steps… Jack was her best friend and always loved her. Lots of drama and some competition livens up the story. A great story that was fun to read. Well written with well-developed characters and an entertaining story line. I read an arc copy and voluntarily chose to review. A great addition to the House of Morgan series.
Such a nice story about Charlotte and Jack who are best friends. The share everything about themselves each don’t know what they would do without the other. When Jack finally gets the nerve to tell her he loves her he learns a big surprise. He is a Morgan and he is rich. He sets out to prove to Charlotte that she is his one true love. But Charlotte, used to being dumped on by her stepmother and stepsisters may need more convincing that she is good enough for him now that he is rich. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Cinderella….. errrr, Charlotte was waaaaay to kind to the wicked stepmother and her children. Personally speaking, all Charlotte needed to do to take care of her stepmother and step sisters was provide for them they way they provided for her. Offer them a job as stockers, cleaners and cashiers in the new store.
Now that I’ve garnered your attention, I must applaud the author for her character development.
Jack was awesome. What woman wouldn’t want a Jack in her life?
Charlotte was the all around good girl. Too good at times and a bit naive as well as stubborn.
Stepmom, Nancy, played her character well. Doubt if she’ll garner much love from the readers. She got off way too easy at the end.
Stepsister Mickey was okay. She wasn’t mean but was willing to watch Charlotte suffer for years without doing anything to help. Thus she was a coward.
Stepsister Linda was a chip off the old block, just like her mother. She though way too highly of herself and didn’t do anything to earn or deserve the kindness Charlotte bestowed upon her.
Donna was a real conniver and manipulator. You could certainly add gold-digger to that list also.
But when all is said and done, Cinderella gets her own Prince Charming and they live happily ever after… well, as happy as a House of Morgan offspring can. It never fails to amaze me how such a vile, selfish man could produce children that are a complete and total opposite of himself.
A modern twist to Cinderella.
Jack and Charlotte have been friends since elementary school and their lives have had rough patches while growing up. Although never married, Jack’s mom left his father and reared them as a single mother. Charlotte’s father died, leaving her with a stepmother and two stepsisters and a family owned store. Winds of change blow through their lives like a hurricane when the Morgan family arrives with life-changing news for Jack and his family. Faced with a new reality, Charlotte faces an identity crisis and doesn’t handle the change well.
As with all Victoria Pinder books in this series, she sweeps the reader into an intriguing story about the House of Morgan and delivers an HEA ending. 5 stars!
Wow, oh Wow!! This 16th (no less!) novel in The House of Morgan series by the outstanding Princess of Romantic Suspense, Victoria Pinder, has it all – a downtrodden orphaned daughter, an ‘evil’ stepmother and two, (in this case not-so-ugly – on the outside) stepsisters, who take her for granted and force her to work, (no, not in the kitchen among the cinders, but) in the family (ie her) convenience/department store, established by her late father, that would founder completely if not for her and the other disparaged and maltreated staff.’Cinderella’ Charlotte’s only friend is Jack Masters. The pair dated in high school, until jealous plotting by one (now) stepsister parted them for several years.
Who is Antonio Morgan? What changes the friendship back to second-chance romance for this unlikely ‘Cinderella’ and ‘Buttons’?
When does a threat arrive to the store’s future? Where is Charlotte’s father’s Will – and who has a secret copy? Why would the ultra-rich Morgans want to meet Jack, his Mom and siblings?
How does Charlotte’s step-family feel about how events are changing Charlotte’s life – and their own?
A rich tapestry of relationships, love, hatred, jealousy, loss, devotion, friendship, family interactions, discovery, delight and much much more, is woven expertly by Victoria Pinder, in a fabulous re-working of the traditional rags-to-riches fairytale. This wonderful story is sure to captivate everyone who opens the cover, to discover within the riches of love and an HEA, that will warm your heart at Christmas and throughout the year.
You’re sure to read it more than once – it’s that great! Don’t waste a single minute in getting your hands on a copy of Secret Cinderella, as soon as it hits your local bookstore.
It’s a guaranteed winner that will make your dreams come true, without needing to wait for night-time to wish upon a star!
This truly is a fairytale retold story. Charlotte Master’s father died when she was a teenager and she has been living with and working for her wicked stepmother and two stepsisters. Her father left her with the dream to run the big superstore he left the way he used to. But her stepmother has been running it into the ground. Her only joy is her best friend Jack who has continued to work part-time at the store with her and keep her spirits lifted. He is in his last year of college when he comes home to find Italian Antonio Morgan saying they have found the four O’Conner boys with their sister to be their half-siblings and their father has willed them fortunes. He knows money will not win Charlotte, that she is only interested in honoring her father’s legacy. But he dresses up in House of Morgan free clothes, buys a new car, and asks Charlotte to marry him. Although she originally agrees, when she finds out the Morgans are buying the store from her stepmother, she returns Jack’s ring and takes off on a cross country bus trip. Will this story have the fairytale happy-ever-after ending?
Jack and Charlotte are best friends, but now Jack is ready to step up and declare his love. Problem is he just found out he’s a Morgan and the entire family comes to meet him. The drama of the Morgans, her evil step-family and Charlotte’s own stubbornness will threaten their HEA. Wonderful story. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Another great read by Victoria Pinder. This is a modern day Cinderella story with strong characters in Charlotte and Jack. The author does a fantastic job building their story and paints her scenes in vivid detail. She brings drama and romance , moves the story fluidly and delivers another great book to The House of Morgan series. I loved and would recommend this book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
The house of Morgan just keeps getting bigger as they uncover all the half-siblings. Though this story is a contemporary retelling of the Cinderella story and more about Charlotte and her horrible step mum and step sisters. Jack Morgan is Charlotte’s love interest and while there is a HEA there are a few tears along the way. Another great story in this series.
A sweet, YA update of Cinderella with ties to the Morgan family that Victoria Pinder has been chronicling for a while now. I read an ARC over the course of two evenings, but it could probably be read in an afternoon. This voluntary review is my own opinion.
