I like Sutton, I understand where she is coming from with regards to not being sure she can entirely trust Damon or anyone else for that matter, can empathise with her needing to concentrate on getting herself through the day but I was most definitely not a fan of how she blew hot and cold with Damon considering how protective he was of her and how attentive. But saying that this is a Y/A novel so you expect there to be a certain level of immaturity so whilst it frustrated me it also suited the age and mental state of the character. I thoroughly enjoyed the first book and this was an absolutely masterful follow on so I can’t wait for the next book.
I received this ARC From Bad Boy Update and am voluntarily leaving a review.
As the gossip and rumors heat up, Sutton finds herself relying on Damon more and more. The secrets are coming out and their romance is heating up. Good continuation of their story.
This is book 2 in the Secret Bay High series and should be read after Secret Bay High Bully. Sutton has had her world turned upside down with the deaths of her parents and she’s sent to live with someone she doesn’t know. She may not know Susan, but she certainly knows her son, Damon. She had a crush on him but he bullied her all through middle school. Now, as she looks at him, he’s all grown up and she has to admit that she hopes her crush could become more. Damon sticks up for her this time around instead of joining her bullies. What is her story, though! Why are there so many questions and all of the answers produce even more questions! In an attempt to find how much of her life has been a lie, she and Damon go to her father’s office and go through his papers. What they learn is going to entirely change their lives! This is a very well-written YA romance. The cliffy leaves you wanting to know what’s next in their story!
This book is absolutely insane. You get the answers to some of your questions in book one, but you also have so, so many more. It’s not absolute trip to be on that’s for sure. Crazy ride of intrigue trying to figure out who, what, where and when.
There are a few things I don’t like about this book, and one of them is Sutton herself. I was all for her in book one, but in this one, she seems a little petty. She takes her anger out on the wrong people. If you’re mad at someone, be mad at that person, and don’t take it out on others around you, and definitely don’t put the blame on them when it’s not their doing. My loyalties are now with Damon. Sorry Sutton, I’m switching teams. Damon has really proven himself in this book.
“All I knew was that Damon made me feel on top of the world, and he wasn’t afraid of what others thought. He would pin a guy to the floor for my honor if he had to, and he did. And I was more grateful than I could say.”
~Sutton~
This is another cliffy, and I know I’m going to be on pins until book three wanting to know how this turns out. The way this book ended was HUGE!! I can not wait for the next.
