Second in the Darynda Jones’ award-winning paranormal series that’s “hilarious and heartfelt, sexy and surprising.” (J.R. Ward) When Charley Davidson and Cookie (her best friend/receptionist) have to track down a missing woman, the case is not quite as open and shut as they anticipate. A friend of Cookie’s named Mimi disappeared five days earlier. This friend then sends Cookie a cryptic message … message telling them to meet her at a nearby coffee shop. The coffee is brewing, but Mimi’s still missing. There is, however, a clue left on the bathroom wall: a woman’s name, scribbled by Mimi. Mimi’s husband explains that his wife had been acting strange since she found out an old friend of hers from high school had been murdered a couple weeks prior. The same woman Mimi had named in her message.
Meanwhile, Reyes Alexander Farrow (otherwise known as the Son of Satan. Yes. Literally) has left his corporeal body and is haunting Charley. He’s left his body because he’s being tortured by demons who want to lure Charley closer. But Reyes can’t let that happen. Because if the demons get to Charley, they’ll have a portal to heaven. And if they have a portal to heaven…well, let’s just say it wouldn’t be pretty. Can Charley handle hot nights with Reyes and even hotter days tracking down a missing woman? Can she keep those she loves out of harm’s way? And is there enough coffee and chocolate in the world to fuel her as she does?

This sequel kept the momentum up of all the things that were going good in the first book. It was a laugh out loud romp at times, but yet it was so much more as it has Charley working on some pretty heavy duty cases, racing against a time constraint to find Reyes’ body and being blind-sided by a family matter.
The plot was superb and hit the …
I’m really enjoying this series. I just love Charley and Cookie! I cannot wait to see what happens next. I definitely recommend this!
Second Grave on the Left, (Charley Davidson, #2), by Darynda Jones.
This is a fun read on Kindle and an even better read on audiobook. Charlie is sassy and her inner thoughts are hysterical! And Reyes? Whew!
By this book, I was getting used to Charley’s humor enough that I didn’t find it quite as annoying here. I still love Reyes and Charley, though I’m pretty certain I also want to kill Reyes, too.
If you like sarcasm, urban fantasy, and smoking hot bad boy heroes and romance, this series is definitely fun!
Wonderful series! In book two, Charley and her friend Cookie are trying to track down a missing woman. However, nothing is ever easy for Charley and company.
I love Charley, Reyes, and all the characters in this fabulous series.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias …
Outstanding. Just as great as the first.
One of my all time favorite series. Truly laugh out loud funny.
It’s official! I have fallen in love with this series! I have actually finished this entire series (what’s released so far) but I am going to review one book at a time.
As always, the character of Charley Davidson doesn’t disappoint. She’s sarcastic as always. In this book, we learn something new about her abilities in this book and I have a …
What a great second book the characters are A+ and the story line is even better.
Charley is becoming more powerful with gifts she is still discovering she has and how to use them. Reyes is missing and she needs to find him before the demons kill off his corporal side of him. This is another action packed edition to the series with snark and laughter thrown in!
I think I’m becoming addicted to this series. After reading book one and the first novella, I totally love all the quirkiness that is Charley, Cookie, Uncle Bob and the rest of the gang, which include the dead.
I enjoyed reading about this case and how it unfolded. As Charley is working her way to solve the mystery of a missing woman, she is …
