I’ve always played by the rules. But I’m about to break them all. Two years ago I found her. Body broken, beaten. And I knew the moment those blue eyes met mine that I would protect her no matter the cost. I just didn’t realize the price would be my heart. She’s my best friend’s little sister. The star of all my fantasies. Forbidden fruit, ripe for the picking. But the closer I get to her, the … picking.
But the closer I get to her, the more I realize that she’s hiding more than just her desire for me. She’s playing a dangerous game. One that could have deadly consequences.
First goal: Protecting her.
Second goal: Making her mine.
This isn’t a game I’m willing to lose.

This is book 3 in the Men with Wood series. It follows Kiley and Blake. Blake is best friends with Kileys long lost brother and he’s stayed away from her because of the guarded relationship between brother and sister. But he can’t resist helping her out of a bad past and it turns into a sweet and spicy romance. I enjoyed it.

This is a very emotional story of trust. Kiley and her brother, Kane, were separated when they entered foster care with him being adopted while she suffered in foster homes and on the streets. Blake, Kane’s friend and teammate, found Kiley two years ago, broken and beaten and has been watching out for her.
Neither Blake nor Kiley was big on trust due to their past experiences. For Blake, it was a bad relationship. For Kiley, it was life on the streets and skeletons in her closet. Both have issues, but Blake doesn’t want to let go. Both of them are damaged, but can they build their trust in each other enough to heal and find love? Or will secrets from the past keep them apart?
This story is so emotional both low and highs with Kiley and Blake. They both have had some bad things in their past and not sure they can let love in but they were made for one another
. Love how he never gave up on her and worked through the problems to find their HEA.

Book 3 in the Men with Wood series and the fist I read. I really enjoyed this story. Blake and Kiley both had issues in their past which made it hard for either of them to open up to each other. Loved watching them be able to do so and find the happy that they were always looking for.

This is the third book in this series. Blake and Kiley have been tip toeing around each other for a couple years. But both have so much baggage that they never try. But finally after a kiss that neither can forget their lives will never be the same. Kiley’s past comes crashing back in and Blake would do anything to protect her even though he doesn’t know what he’s protecting her from. But Blake’s past makes it hard for him to move forward. But when everything comes crashing down you will see the love and the happily ever after. Loved this book and I highly recommend it and the rest of the series

Captivating !!! Let me say Second Goal is amazing . Its hot and wild. I was so consumed I literally could not put it down. Captivated through the entire book.
I haven’t read the previous books in the series but have them on my list. After reading this one, I can’t wait to dive in the previous ones. Blake and Kiley have an undeniable pull towards each other but Blake fights it as much as possible. It’s hard when he knows Kiley might be in danger and just wants to protect her. This book has action, some suspense and mystery thrown in with the white-hot passion you expect.

Second Goal is a great addition to the Men of Wood series. This story has two broken souls with trust issues, drama, best friends little sister, rocky family dynamics, and emotion. Oh and lets not forget the twists that keep you guessing. Blake is a protector, and Kiley needs one. Or does she? The more time they spend together the harder it gets to deny their feelings for eachother. Will they take the chance? I liked that past characters are in eachother stories. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
Great Book…

Oh wow this was an emotional roller coaster ups and downs. Kiley the main heroine is very complicated her back ground made it very difficult for her dealing so much guilt.
She and her brother grew up in different homes and it shows.
Blake is a very strong sounded hero.

I had a hard time getting into the first part of the book. About midway through, things started to change and I got into the meat of the story and the background of the characters. Kiley grew up in foster care and then on the streets. Another girl Amy, also in foster care, did her best to protect her. They ran away from sexual abuse and ended up on the streets. Unfortunately, Amy succumbed to the same and got pregnant and got hooked on drugs. Kiley tried to protect Amy, but she chose her abuser. Cruz, Amy’s boyfriend, convinced Kiley that she had killed Cruz’s brother and also that Amy’s child had died. Later Kiley found her famous Hockey brother, Kane, and Cruz started blackmailing her.
Blake was a teammate of Kane and he had feelings for Kiley. Eventually they started a relationship, but he did not fully trust her. Kiley couldn’t share the awful things she had done with Blake for a long time. There were a lots of ups and downs, and Kiley learned the whole truth, setting her free.

This book should come with a warning ( HAVE PLENTY OF KLEENEX), yes this book is a tearjerker and will make you so emotional it will make you cry. The story was so well written I felt as if I was there with her filling her pain and the uncertainty of her life. Yes this was a romance story but it was so much more, each person has their own demons to face, but with the love of family and friends they can overcome some of the burdens of their past.
Each character had a past which made this book a joy to read, the chemistry between Kiley and Blake will burn you e-reader up..
Happy reading!

“He thinks I’m the victim. That’s why he’s protecting me. Why he looks at me the way he does. But I’m not. I’m the villain in this story.” ~ Kiley
Love Kiley and Blake’s story. It’s a heartfelt read that will pull on your heartstrings.
Kiley has had her share of heartaches. She and her brother don’t exactly have the best relationship. His best friend decides that he is going to protect her. good read and romance.

I was immediately hooked from the very beginning and could not stop reading. C.M. Seabrook did a fantastic job pulling the reader into Kiley and Blake’s highly emotional story. Both are dealing with huge issues from their pasts, although Kiley’s are pretty horrific, but the connection they have is unmistakable. Their story is full of secrets, drama, heartbreaking memories, but finally love. Absolute perfection!

Fantastic read with so much heartbreaking moments and a lot of love. I enjoyed this book with Blake always trying to be there for Kinley, no matter what situation she ended up in. Both of them had past hurts in the family and love department, liked that Blake was so patient, yet frustrated because of trust issues. Liked that there was depth to all of these characters and a bit of a mystery to Kinley’s past even she did know about. Such a wonderful ending for the main characters to move forward with their lives.

I liked Blake and Kiley’s book. All I can say is, try to prepare yourself for an avalanche of feels as this intensely emotional story unfolds. Both of these characters are wounded and especially in Kiley’s case those wounds run very, vey deep. My heart truly hurt for her. I liked these two together and I felt that they had great chemistry. The path they find themselves on is far from smooth sailing because it is littered with plenty of raw emotions. secrets, drama and issues that need to be dealt with along the way.
Kiley and Blake’s story was such a joy to read. Kiley is so young but had such a hard life right until she found her brother, Kane (in Second Shot). Still, she has a lot on her plate, trying to fight a good fight all alone because she feels there’s no one in her corner. Blake gave up on love and romantic relationships a long time ago, his heart forever hardened. Somehow Kiley had the key to his feelings and slowly thawed his heart. Both of them were loveable characters. I once again loved how loving Brynne was towards Kiley but her own brother’s, Kane’s behavior bordered on unacceptable. I loved Kiley’s strenght and the way she always wanted to help those in need.
I love C. M. Seabrook’s writing, it’s always effortless and engaging.
