This couple!!! My heart was in ruins for Kiley and Blake! I loved every second of their story, especially that ending! I highly recommend this and all of this authors other books cuz she does this to me every time!
It seems I’ve been waiting forever for this couple’s book to come out. Blake is Kane’s best friend and Kiley is his sister. We met Kane and Brynne in Second Shot. Blake and Kiley broke me.
This couple is so broken as individuals you have to wonder if they make it out whole as a couple.
This book was so worth the wait. The author did a fantastic job of capturing the emotions of this couple.
I loved every second of it even through the tears.
I read an advanced copy from booksprout.
After finishing book 2, I was a little disappointed that Kane and Kylie hadn’t connected as siblings, fortunately this book fills that requirement for me. I found that Kylie pulled at my heartstrings with all her past experiences. Blake has had his heart broken before and has some trust issues. But from the moment he first met Kylie, starving and living on the streets, he was bound to his urge to help and protect her. It’s lovely to read how family, trust and openness led to breaking open secrets and giving two people hope.
Hockey sports romance. I enjoyed reading Blake He found her broken and shattered but could not forget her
. His need to,protect her was too great, Riley was broken and had a secret, she knew if he found out, it would destroy her.
A well written book, I enjoyed reading and kept me interested until the end.

Second Goal was the third book in CM Seabrook’s Men with Wood series. Although technically a stand-alone, it was a continuation from the previous book focusing on Blake and Kylie.
Blake was a star NHL goalie and best friend to Kane (book two, Second Shot). Kylie was Kane’s newly discovered half sister. We met them both previously and learned that Blake had a bleeding heart and Kylie was a homeless mess with a lot of secrets.
Seabrook opened with a quick view into Kylie’s past then the story picked up where Second Shot left off. We knew there was a connection between Blake and Kylie but we also knew nothing could happen until Kylie trusted her new family enough to bare all secrets. Seabrook slowly began unraveling the details while simultaneously developing the friendship and attraction between Kylie and Blake.
It was well written, well developed, and suspenseful. I enjoyed both characters, the storyline and how Seabrook meshed Kane and Brynne into the storyline. Hopefully the series will continue, Tyler would be a great addition. Hint, hint…
I recieved this book for Free to Give My True & Honest Review
Here we see more of NHL Blake & Kane’s younger sister Kiley’s relationship.
We hear how deep & how Kiley’s life was in her youth whilst she was going through the Foster system & see a little about how Blake doesn’t believe in love anymore after getting his heartbroken.
It’s a fantastic emotional of learning how they open up and be truthful to each other
This story line is fantastic! Very emotional rollercoaster.
The characters are amazing and the growth throughout the story is impressive. Two broken peoples broken hearts and body healing together. This author really knows how to make me cry. I did need the Kleenex.

To open my kindle and see that I have one book from this lady waiting for me… It feels like its Christmas morning when you’re about to open your presents.
C. M. Seabrook is one of my favorite authors and I have the privilege to read her books.
Each one is even better than the other.
Her writing is sweet and beautiful, raw and wild, stunning and hot… Oh boy…
Second Goal is her latest release and it’s the third book from the Men with Wood series.
If you really want to fully understand this series, I advise you to read the first two books. Get ready to fall in love…
This new book explores the lives of Kiley and Blake.
Kiley had a bad childhood. She was raised by her mother and let’s just say that it was a bad childhood.
She grew up surrounded by abuse and neglect and that made her be reserved and not trust anyone.
Years later she had found her brother but…
Blake is the star goalie for an NFL team. He’s good and he knows it. He has a heart bigger than the world. He’s always wanting to raise money to help someone.
Beautiful, like I knew it would be. The other books from this series were intense but this one… This one just stole my heart.
Fantastic plot, very well written, super engaging and intense.
Each chapter was even more intense and it was a joy to read.
Although we have some chapters that tore my heart out.
Their pain, their struggles were so raw that I saw myself crying.
How can someone so damaged heal? How can a broken soul be glued again? How can you live after experiencing so much loss?
This book presented us with poverty, misery, damaged souls, betrayal, crime as well as second chances, love, loyalty and family bonds.
There were parts of the book that I wanted to slap someone for being so stubborn but then there were others that I saw myself wanting to enter the book and heal them. Hold them and promise better days.
This book will hook you up in a sec and then you won’t be able to stop reading.
C.M. Seabrook, you nailed it once again. This book was freaking awesome and I didn’t wanted it to end. It was amazing to have news from the other characters.
What’s next? I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I read and reviewed this book voluntarily.
She was broken and beaten down and believes untruths. He is her brothers best friend.
His first goal was to keep her safe and protected….
Blake and Kiley’s story is intense.
He wants her, she wants him but her brother is his best friend. It is forbidden. Mix that with two people who have ghosts in their pasts.
Great read.
Blake and Kylie’s story began in Second Shot, the second book of the Men with Wood series, which revolves around Kylie’s brother Kane and the woman he loves, Brynne. Second Goal is Kylie and Blake’s story.
It’s impossible not to feel for both characters. Kylie has had a horrible life and lives in fear of her past; and as dedicated as Blake is to Kylie, to protecting and caring for her, he’s been disillusioned by love before and is afraid to admit how deep his feelings for her go. The emotional connection between these characters is powerful and touching but her secrets and lies have the power to break that bond unless she is willing to trust him
C.M. Seabrook is an awesome storyteller and writer. Her characters are so human that you can’t help caring about them. Blake and Kylie’s story is emotional and compelling and heartbreaking and beautiful. I couldn’t put it down.

Kiley’s story tears my heat to shreds. Her past has haunted her for years, but it’s causing more pain now, not to mention the possibility of her one true love. She’s fallen for her brothers best friend and he’s perfect in her eyes. He has a past that causes some trust issues, but he just wants to protect her. I loved this story and all the characters. I hope there’s more of the team’s stories to come.

Another C.M. Seabrook’s emotional story. This time not only the male character is broken, but also the female character.
Blake has been attracted to Kiley since he laid eyes on her, but she is off-limits being his best friend’s little sister.
Kiley had had a terrible childhood going from one foster family to another. She had done really bad things she can’t forget. She is so miserable she thinks she is not worthy of being loved.
She had closed herself into protected walls, but Blake was able to see past the walls she had erected.
Absolutely fantastic. One of those books you would like to reread.
Just a piece of advice: don’t forget to have a big box of tissues right at hand, you are definitely going to need them.
Kiley and Blake are both hurt damaged people. Kiley wants Blake to trust her but she won’t trust him with her secrets. Blake is judging her based on his cheating ex fiancé. Well written romance with a lot of angst. But I like that Blake was so protective of Kiley.

Absolutely fantastic! The story line is well-developed, emotionally deep, engaging, funny, and well written. The writing is fluid and the story flows smoothly; I was immediately hooked from the first page. There is drama, suspense, humour, and intrigue to look forward to in this story. The characters Kiley and Blake are broken, likeable, and a perfect match; the chemistry between them is undeniable and off the charts. Definitely recommended!

This is the third story in the Men with Wood series. The wood they are talking about is hockey sticks, not what you were thinking. I really liked this story even though it has a bit of darkness in it. It does end up with a Happy Ever After and all the questionable things are answered by the end. You have the best friend’s little sister, forbidden romance, the protector all rolled up in one.
Kiley has had a rough life. She had it bad in the foster home system. She did have one girlfriend/sister, Amy, that when through a few homes together and she protected me from the foster parent’s son. When they got out of that home, they lived on the streets, until Amy fell for a sleazeball, they all lived together for a while alone with the sleazeball’s friend. After Amy had her baby by the foster parent’s son, the guys used the baby to get Kiley to do what they wanted. Kiley was the one who cared for the baby and the baby took too. So when it got really bad, Kiley hit one of the guys in the head with a baseball bat when she wasn’t allowed to care for the ill baby. She ran. She thinks that she killed him and that the baby died. She found her brother, Kane from Second Shot, but he first turned her down. When she reached out this time his teammate helped me. I was beaten pretty badly. This time my brother took pity. He put me up in an apartment in the same building as him and his wife and baby. I get an allowance to do with as I wish, so I don’t have to get a job if I don’t want to. But I am being blackmailed about killing that guy. It also seems like I have a guardian angel in the form of Blake, my brother’s teammate and the guy who lives across the hall from me.
Blake is the huge goalie for the team. He is really into taking in stray dogs or fostering dogs until they find their forever homes. The first time he sees Kiley, he is totally smitten. He doesn’t understand her brother on how he keeps her at arm’s length and always seems to be scowling at her. Kane keeps accusing her of being on drugs, just like their junky mother. For the past two years, he has been keeping an eye on her, more closely than she realizes. They get along just fine, being they both are attracted to each other but don’t want to mess up their friendship. He put an app on her phone so he can track her and it has saved her life more than once. The first time he prevents her from getting beaten even more when she said that she owed the guy money and now she is paid in full. The next time she is almost beaten to death. He gets her to tell him the whole story while his private investigator tries to get info too.

Best Friend and Lost Little Sister. This book was a bit different, but I truly enjoyed it. This book is about Riley and Blake. Blake and Kane are best friends and professional players but Kane’s little sister approached him when she needed help. Kane who had married his love Brynne lives in the same building that other players live in and has set up an apartment for his lost sister but gave her a three strikes deal, no messing around or doing drugs, he wanted her clean. Riley is living with guilt due to a death that she was made to believe that she caused and for not being there when a child needed her the most. It is a stressful way to live and my heart went out to her as she did not believe she had the support from her older lost brother. Across the hall from her lives Blake who from the moment he saw her fell in love with her, but also became very protective.
The love story does end nicely but someone she tries to protect does not end up well and there is a moment in the story that you start to wonder if she made it out alive as well. This was awesome especially the ending!

C. M. Seabrook scores with Second Goal (Men with Wood, #3). In this story, NHL goalie playing on the Annihilator’s, Blake Starowis has been looking out for his neighbor Kiley for the past couple of years. He’s attracted to her, but things are complicated. For starters, she’s his best friend and teammate Kane Madden’s younger sister. Then there is the issue that they are both broken. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for adult readers.
C. M. Seabrook did an exceptional job with this novel. My heart broke for Kiley. She had a complicated history full of hardship. Blake is a likeable and complex character. They both have demons to face and overcome. The two have amazing chemistry. The plot had fascinating twists and challenges. This is an emotional story that had me laughing and crying.
This is the first book that I have read by C. M. Seabrook. I enjoyed her writing style. Her story was passionate and heartfelt. I am interested in reading additional books by her in the future, including other books in this series. I recommend Second Goal to people who enjoy sports romances.
