Paralegal Olivia Stone knows there’s more to life than billing and briefs. She follows her sweet dreams and enters a harvest contest, pinning her hopes on her strawberry preserves. She walks away with a blue ribbon, a job offer, and a sizzling attraction to farmer, Theo Harper. Eager for a change, she accepts the job and moves out to Theo’s farm. With a battered heart and a poet’s soul, Theo is … Theo is happiest alone in the fields. He is content with his blog and his plants, until Gran gets sick. He needs help, and when Olivia shows up, with her organized plans and her tight jeans, demanding his attention, sparks fly in the kitchen, and the bedroom, and the barn… But Theo is determined to keep the blazing heat from thawing his heart.
Adjusting to her new job and her overwhelming attraction to Theo isn’t easy for Olivia. Her career and her heart are on the line, and she struggles to let go of her rigid need for control. She doesn’t want to walk away from a future with Theo, but she needs more from him than lust. Theo will have to be brave enough to give love a second chance.

Growing up Olivia Stone has learned to survive with keeping her life organized and using lists to ensure everything has it’s place. She’s worked herself tirelessly to put herself through school and get to where she is as a paralegal. The job afforded her the money to send to help support her brother through school, and now that he’s graduated, Olivia can’t see any reason to not try and find what she’s passionate about. When she gets the opportunity to start a new job on a farm to help Theo and his grandmother to extend their organic farm line, she snatches up the offer. But having Theo Harper as her boss and the chemistry that sizzles between them makes working difficult for these two.
Theo Harper learned at a young age to guard his heart. After watching his mother drive away from him without a backwards glance he is determined to keep all relationships with women firmly in the “fun” zone but never letting them get close to him. Until he meets Olivia Stone, the one woman who has found a way to worm her way into his life, work, and heart.
I absolutely adored Olivia and Theo’s story. For these two to finally find happiness, they must overcome the issues they both have. Can Olivia let loose the reins a bit on life and live a bit more “in the moment” without relying on lists? Will Theo be able to finally open up his heart and see that happiness is in front of him or will the walls he’s built around his heart drive Olivia away?
Second Chances is the second in Eva Moore’s Girls’ Night Out series. It’s about Olivia and Theo. She’s a paralegal with dreams of finding a niche that feeds her spirit as well as paying the bills. Theo is a farmer whose captivating blog posts reveal hidden depths, but his in-person skills are sometimes lacking.
In Liv and Theo, Ms Moore gives us two very all-too-human characters; they are more than they might seem at first glance, and their vulnerabilities ring true. These two are quite the pair. They have deep-seated wounds that haven’t fully healed, and as they spend more time with each other, while their physical chemistry is undeniable, have to find ways to better communicate lest they inadvertently tear the other apart. And when they do, the results are magic.
Ms Moore’s characters are beautifully written, and in addition to Liv and Theo’s romance, Second Chances also showcases the friendships between Liv and her friends. Second Chances too really demonstrates how words can both hurt and heal, and how being brave can be one of the most frightening and most rewarding things we ever do.
Second Chances stands well alone, but you’ll want to enjoy all the books in the series!
WOW!!!! I love this book. Strong , dependable Olivia has always been there for her family but to do something that she wants for herself. She entered her jam and chutney into a contest but unknown to her they are accidently destroyed but with a special woman giving her a chance she is back in it. But she is surprised when she meets Theo, her attraction is immediate and his come not far behind. This is a story of 2 strong people facing their own issues and find love together. Don’t we all love happy endings?
This is book 2 in the series Girls’ Night out and it just keeps getting better and better. I really enjoyed book one and didn’t think another could top it, I am glad I was wrong.
Olivia and Theo were both raised with heart ache and from there they both developed different coping skills. While these skills helped as children, now as adults it is barriers.
I have a love/strong dislike for Theo. This poetic, thoughtful, caring and hard working man at times had the social skills of a 2 year old. I really enjoyed him until he got mad and then the gloves would come off and he would lash out. He has his reasons but my heart broke each time. I loved his relationship with his Gran and the closeness he had with her.
I could relate to Olivia on so many levels, too many actually. Liv is a list maker and planner. She needs order in her life otherwise she spirals. As someone who is like this, it is hard to change your ways and step out of your comfort area. I was so proud when she did and she kept fighting for it.
