This is an inspirational second chance romance between Missy and Nate. The author does a beautiful job bringing the couple together five years after she left town. They have to work through the past troubles to find each other again. It’s well written with descriptive writing and moves quickly and smoothly. I enjoyed reading and would recommend this book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
Throughout this story Missy believed she didn’t deserve God’s love because of the poor choices she has made. Having to come home from college because she was pregnant was her punishment for those choices.
The ex boyfriend and childhood friend she left behind, Nate, still makes her heart skip. She knows he deserves much better than her. So she is determined to only be friends with him. Nate has no doubt that God loves her and continuously tries to remind her. He has always loved Missy but tries to just be friends.
This is an amazing love story that throughout shows God’s love and grace and just how beautiful it is to have Him in your life!
Missy and Nate were sweethearts. Will her secret keep them from having a second chance? The author did a great job of showing us what both Missy and Nate were going through, how they were feeling, as well as their thoughts. Really sweet story.
Missy and Nate were sweethearts back in their high school days but they parted ways when Missy left for college with no plans to return to their small town. Years passed and Missy had a change of heart and came home much to Nate’s delight. But Missy is bearing a secret that she is sure will disqualify her from receiving Nate’s love. This novelette handles some difficult topics in a sensitive manner. It is a quick read but a thought-provoking one that has a satisfying ending which will leave the reader happy. I enjoyed it! I originally purchased this book when it was a part of the First Street Church Kindle World and was titled Love’s Choice. I received an ARC from the author when it was republished under the new title. This is my voluntary and honest review.
I liked this story a lot. I liked the relationship between Missy & Nate & that there is an HEA. I received an ARC. This is my voluntary review.
I loved the book!! The story was very inspirational and really good!
Loved Nate and Missy’s story! Missy had to learn that what happened to her wasn’t her fault, and that it wasn’t God’s punishment for what she’d done. There are always consequences for our choices, but that doesn’t mean it’s punishment. Nate realized that he still loved Missy, irregardless of what had happened, and he wanted things to work out between them. His praying for Missy, and waiting for God to work, is just what we need to do. How wonderful if you find a guy that will pray with you and for you!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book, was not required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.
From the first few pages I majorly connected with Missy. Actually there were so many similarities between Missy’s story and my own it was uncanny! Having gone through abuse in my past I felt the angst that Missy feels. What’s different between her story and my own is that she had someone like Nate and I didn’t. Nate is the man I always prayed for. Strong in his faith, a heart of gold, and a genuinely good guy. How could anyone not fall in love with him?
For such a short story the author did a great job with developing the main characters and having that magnetic chemistry from the first page. It just goes to show the talent of LiwenY. Ho!
This was a much needed, feel good read for me. Who doesn’t love second chances! Highly recommend this perfect, laidback weekend read!
I loved this awesome book so much! I adore the return to hometown and second chance romance tropes, and this book did both of them SO well! Sun Valley was such a great small town setting, and I loved getting to hang out there for a while!
Missy and Nate were both such wonderful characters! I seriously wanted to reach through the pages and give Missy a hug, that girl needed a friend and I was so happy that she found some amazing ones! And Nate is just the sweetest thing, he is such an awesome hero, so caring and thoughtful! And I LOVED that he had never stopped loving or praying for Missy!
Second Chance Sweethearts is an absolutely beautiful and delightful story of grace and redemption! I loved everything about this book and highly recommend it! I definitely anticipate re-reading this story and I cannot wait for Liwen Y. Ho’s next book!
I received an ebook copy of this book from the publisher. Which did not influence my review in any way. All thoughts and opinions are one hundred percent my own!
This story brought out many emotions.
The plot was about choices, chances, and God’s love.
The characters were well-written and so interesting.
This is a feel-good book that deserves 5-stars.
This is one of my favorite authors that never lets me down with her stories.
This was a sweet short story, and I enjoyed it.
However, it discusses a heavy topic in short novella format. I think it skims so lightly over so many things that the characters come off a little two-dimensional. This left me with a weak(ish) connection to them. Flashbacks and more daily interactions would have helped connect the reader more. This novel needed to be longer to take the reader to the moments that bring clarity and personality to the topic.
The “delivery scene” was one of the best moments. I felt the pain and heart of this moment in time. This was a five-star scene!
Overall an enjoyable short story. I recommend it.
I received an ARC copy of this book and I am leaving a voluntary review.
Second Chance Sweethearts is a romance that deals with tough subjects, but focuses on forgiveness and redemption. Nate and Missy are very likable characters that are easy to relate to. The plot has some twists and moves at a good pace. The characters’ faith and their struggles with it flow naturally in the story. There is a hard fought for HEA. I absolutely loved this book! I recommend it to Christian romance readers, to sweet romance readers, and to readers that love second chance romances. I enjoy Liwen Ho’s writing style and plan to read more of her works. I received a complimentary copy. I chose to write a review and share my opinion of this excellent book.
Love’s Choice was part of the 1st Street Church series that takes place in Sweet Grove, Texas. It is a story of hope, forgiveness, and embracing life and God. This book shows the main character, Missy Clark coming home after being in an abusive relationship with her boyfriend of three years. I liked the strength that Missy shows after moving in with her brother’s family. It was also nice to see that her high school boyfriend, Nate Dawson, could open his heart up to Missy and her unborn child. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
I loved this story. Missy is so dejected and ashamed because she allowed herself to be abused and wound up pregnant. She goes back to her hometown. This is a sweet story with wonderful characters. I loved it
Choices…. life is about choices. We all make them, both good and bad. Usually there’s a build up to making a choice, but once its made consequences set in. Again, both good and bad.
What led to Brad’s anger? Why did Missy running away from G_d into the arms of an unbeliever? And Nate, he made choices too. He chose to remain faithful and trust his prayers were received.
Often there will be collateral damage to choices. Missy sure knew about that. Brad presented himself in a totally different light than he actually was. And Missy suffered while living in desperation.
Nate also suffered collateral damage…. not of his own making, but damage from Missy’s choices. However, Nate remained true to his beliefs and kept praying for Missy… for five looooong years. He never gave up.
Nate and Missy’s reunion isn’t the easiest. There are real complications to work out. But there is a scripture that gave them confidence and assurance: All things work together for those who love the Lord.
OBSERVATIONS:
… Missy had to be reminded that G_d is about the business of redemption. She also had to learn to see herself through G_d’s eyes and not the damaged woman she had become with Brad.
… Abuse often is hidden. For some reason it seems the abused is the one stigmatized and not the one dishing it out.
… Can’t imagine any woman not wanting a Nate in her life.
WISHES:
… Wanted to know more about Brad. What made him tick? Just who was he and why? Does he ever appear in Missy’s life again? Does he ever see himself, really see himself? Does he ever realize his wrongs, his faults? Does he ever feel remorse? Is he even capable of feeling remorse? Does he wonder or question himself concerning Missy…. concerning Grace. Did he become a doctor? How does he justify his behavior? Did he become a doctor? Just what is Brad’s future? Remember, all choices, all decisions have consequences. I’d love to know how Brad lived with himself.
