3.5 stars … only because of the ending….. that is. It a spoiler alert. Let’s not forget That our past history has a tendency of affecting our future in some instances. Damon is a seal. He has gone to Florida on vacation with one of his buddies. As well as wedding rehearsal and practices and eating in and having fun he runs into this woman who he met 10 years ago. Apparently she was his high school sweetheart. Martel, what is the one he let go. Not the one who got away. Damon did not inform her of his intentions of joining the service. And one excuse after another in one assignment after another ended up to be over nine years of no contact. Martel was angry it should be. But she’s keeping a secret. He’s trying to apologize and more or less asked for a second chance. Martel is not being truly truthful with how her life was effected after he left. She needs to come up with acceptance or denial of having a future with him. The past is now coming to haunt him and her. What is a choice that she is making. I wasn’t wasn’t too keen on the ending. There was HEA, I was just looking for more drama. That’s my perspective you’re gonna have to read a book. It just kind of fell flat to me.

This book will definitely touch your emotions. It is mainly the story of Damon and Martel but it is also the story about some of the secondary characters like Phyllis. Ten years ago, Damon and Martel had a physical relationship that scared Damon, who ran off and joined the SEALs and devastated Martel, who moved to Oregon for awhile and then to Florida. The two meet by chance at Martel’s friend’s wedding where she is the maid of honor and Damon is the guest of a friend of the groom’s. Once David finally gets Martel to listen to his apology and his reason’s for not staying in touch, she decides to give him a second chance. However, Martel has a secret that she shares with Phyllis after Phyllis shares one of her own and they help each other figure out the solutions to their problems. Read this heart-touching story to learn whether or not Damon and Martel can make their second chance work…you won’t be sorry.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
We have heard about Damon And Soon to be ex wife before and now he is finally served divorced papers from his soon to be ex while on a mission and now back and tagging along with his seal buddy to a wedding and meets up with his one time love Martel but after 9 years can they find their way back together or will secrets ruin their relationship again? We also get to see coop and fredo and a few other of the hunky seals. I am so glad Sharon gave Damon his happy ending.
This is such a great story. It is a second chance romance full of emotions, romance and heartache with a happy ending. I cried and laughed. It is well written with great characters. I enjoyed reading and can recommend.
I like Martel. She is independent and strong. She has baggage and she owns it. I like Damon but I do not love him. I like the storyline and the action and suspense from the work Damon does. I like the mystery Martel lives. I like Phyllis a lot as a secondary character. Renny and the members of the team Damon is on are also good characters. This is a nice read.

Book two in the Sunset SEALs series a well written second chance story that kept me turning pages. Martel Long came to Sunset Beach five years ago and never left but now, Navy SEAL Damon Hamblin has come there. They parted ways years ago but they meet at her best friend’s Bachelorette party. All these years she has kept a secret from her past from everyone, but what happens when he finds out about it? I enjoyed reading this book and want to read the next book. This one was a good way to escape for awhile and since it included a Seal it was even better. This is also a second chance which I do like to read. Damon and Martel each have their baggage but when they go to a gathering they meet up again. As this unfolds it folds us in the story of how they will confront each other and also find a new path. A good love story is a balm as this one proved to be.
A chance meeting at a wedding leads to their second chance. Both Damon and Martel had some personal demons to work through. You get to reconnect with characters from other series, their is action, heart, heat and growth for these to turn what was a young love into a lasting love. Really enjoying this new series.

Sharon Hamilton did a marvelous job writing the characters in this book! Martel exemplifies what a strong woman should be! She once again meets the man who is right for her at a wedding party. Damon met Martel right before he left to join the navy 10 years ago. They meet again at a wedding. I enjoyed the second chance love story in this book! It is sweet, steamy, and suspenseful. I can’t wait to read more books in this series!
Can the mistakes Damon made as a young man who left to join the Navy and see if he could become a SEAL be fixed years later when he unexpectedly reacquaints with Martel, the girl he left behind over ten years prior be fixed? For Martel, she knows she should keep her heart protected from the potential for being hurt again by the man who was her first love but left her behind without a word. The beach Martel now calls home is said to “heal all wounds” but is this something that would be a good thing or should she leave things as they are? There is a secret that Martel has not told Damon but would his knowing change whether he will still want to pick back up where he mistakenly left things when he left? This is a very sweet story that shows how second chances can sometimes make a relationship stronger and will hopefully survive her secrets.
I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest and totally voluntary review.
I received this ebook ARC from the author on the condition that I write an honest review.
Damon had been in love with Martel when they were young, but his feelings for her, terrified him, so he ran off to become a Seal. He never returned to see her.
Martel was left broken hearted by Damon’s disappearance, but then she finds that she is carrying his child. She decides to give the baby up for adoption, but ten years later, she wants to see her daughter, and make her aware that she loved her all these years.
Damon and Martel meet up at a friends wedding, after ten years apart. They re-establish their former relationship, and fall madly in love. She goes to see him in California, after he returns from a tour with his Seal team. They continue their relationship, and Martel reveals the truth about his/her daughter. They obtain their HEA and make plans to marry.
I’ve read several books written by Sharon Hamilton, and I’ve loved everyone of them. She writes characters that are true to believe, flaws and all. The story usually has some suspense in it, but above all, there is always love. I always recommend her books.
This book was just fantastic! Sharon Hamilton just keeps getting better with each new book. So glad I’ve picked up her books again. Everyone definitely should too. This book is a powerful heart pounding ass kicking spectacular read that will keep you engrossed and constantly on your toes feeling a whirlwind of explosive emotions from one adrenaline filled page to the next! I’m looking forward to reading more of this intriguing, epic series! This author definitely has me coming back more and I won’t be making the same mistake I did and not pick up this authors books. Well done on another spectacular book Sharon Hamilton!! Happy reading everyone!!
Brilliant. Fab book and a great series. Totally recommend
This was a enjoyable second chance romance. Damon and Martel were together before he ran off to join the Navy leaving without telling her. Ten years later they meet again but will Martel give him a second chance? I really enjoyed this book. It was well written with great characters and an interesting storyline. The story had drama, secrets, romance and love. Highly recommend!

Second Chance SEAL is book 2 in the Sunset SEALs series by Sharon Hamilton and a nice addition to this new series.
Seal Damon Hamblin comes to Florida to forget his divorce (which he received while deployed) and drown his sorrows but what he finds is the girl he left behind, Martel Long. With sparks flying, hearts are opened but will it end in heartbreak all over again or will they find their HEA?
This second chance romance between Damon and Martel made me sad. It was so melancholy at points. It didn’t go all the way to somber, but I wasn’t really feeling the romance.
I was surprised that Martel engaged with Damon so quickly after not having heard from or seen him in ten years. She was understandably angry, and it didn’t take much on his part for her to give him that second chance.
With Damon being in the process of finalizing his divorce, I don’t remember if he ever told Martel that he had been married, or that he was waiting for the divorce to be finalized. If they discussed it, the conversation wasn’t significant enough to be remembered.
After they reconnected, there was another separation. There was some action with SEAL Team 3, and a chance to revisit some of the original team. Kyle, Coop, T. J., and Fredo were all in on the op.
The emotion I picked up from Martel was a sense of reluctance and hesitancy moving forward with Damon. Martel experienced a couple of sad moments, tense moments, and had a heavy secret hanging over her head. She said she loved him. The words were there. The feelings, the emotions weren’t. At least, not that I could tell.
I have to say that I would not refer to this as a lighthearted or romantic read, but it was interesting. The dynamics of this couple’s relationship provides a number of things to think about regarding why they would take a second chance. When the secret was revealed, there was hardly any reaction from Damon.
Based on the way the book began, I wasn’t expecting the journey it took. It felt a bit surreal to me. Damon and Martel did work out their issues, but I wasn’t sure as I finished the book if they ended up with an HEA or a HFN.

This is the second in the Sunset SEALs series and much better than the first. The H, Damon meets up again with the h, Martel after many years. Damon has matured due to his service as a SEAL and in the years after meeting Martel has divorced his wife and is ready for relaxation in Florida. Damon goes to a wedding in Florida and unexpectedly meets up with Martel. The story is only about the relationship with Damon and Martel, only a tiny bit of military adventure in the storyline. The story is the building up of the romance between the H and h. I personally thought it dragged a bit, and I wasn’t too invested in either of them, both being immature in my opinion. At the very end of the book is an unexpected surprise Martel reveals to Damon. The book as always was well written with no grammatical or spelling errors.

10 years ago Damion left his town and the girl he loved to be the best as a SEAL and although he lived that girl he married another to make him forget. Martel was Damion’s girlfriend when he left and he stole some of her heart and broke the rest. Now in Florida doing the job she loves until her whole world is thrown upside down when she sees him again. I could tell she was so angry at him for what he did and was cheering her on when she played it cool and ignored him. Although near the end she told him her big secret, he didn’t mention that he was divorced at all. A really good read with lots of angst a land a case of will she or won’t she?????
