Sharon Hamilton – Second Chance SEAL: The Girl He Left Behind (Sunset SEALs – Book 2)

I volunteered to read this Advanced Readers Copy (ARC) for an honest review.
Ten years ago, Navy Seal Damon Hamblin (twenty-one) dated Martel Long (Nineteen) for over a year. He took her virginity, but his restlessness and the feelings he has for Martel scares him, he decides to join the Navy and leaves without saying good-bye. Six years later, he marries a narcissistic woman that lasts four (4) years. While waiting for his pending divorce, he agrees to go with his fellow Seal teammate to Florida for a wedding.
It has taken years for Martel to get over Damon, and she now loves the new life she built in Florida. He loves being a school teacher and all her friends, that is until Damon shows up at her best friend, Kaitlyn’s wedding.
Damon wanted to apologize for his immature behavior ten (10) years ago, but Martel doesn’t want to hear it. Besides, she never wants to remember all the hurt, humiliation, or the secret she has lived with all these years.
When Damon went to Florida with his Seal Team mate he never expected to bump into Martel who he left behind when he joined the Navy. They had a history which he realised he wanted to re visit.
Did their relationship grow ? All is revealed in this entertaining and enjoyable story.

He see’s Martel at a wedding and wants a second chance but Martel has been devastated by the past. Can he win her back? Will she tell him her secret? Can they learn to trust? Get the book to find out. I received this book for an honest review.
I am really liking the Sunset Seals! As the story starts, a newly divorcing Damon is in Florida with a team mate to attend a wedding. In walks the Maid of Honor, Martel, the girl he left behind when he joined the Navy. He not only left her behind, he left without even telling her. Can fIrst love be the forever love? And can Martel forgive Damon and trust him again? Has time matured them? Trust and secrets …..
One of the reasons I like Ms Hamilton’s books so much is the way she presents military life. I’ve seen Navy life as both a member and a spouse. Military life can be very difficult for families and I’ve seen a lot of couples who just could not handle the separations and uncertainties. Damon’s ex was a spouse type I recognize. Many of the team wives represent much better coping spouses. But, the stories feel so authentic in so many ways.
We are back in the Florida Gulf Coast in this second story of the series.
Navy SEAL Damon Hamblin has been invited to tag along with his buddy to a wedding. Having just returned from a mission and still recovering from having been served divorce papers, he’s currently not in the best of places emotionally.
Imagine his surprise when he realizes that a member of the bridal party is the girl he left behind 10 years ago, never contacting her again. Something that he was not proud of.
Martel Long is that girl. Now a woman , she still remembers how devastated she was at the age of 19 not only by his departure but what she had to deal with as a result.
Damon is considering a second chance, but past experiences have not convinced Martel that’s the right thing to do. In addition, unresolved issues can’t be forgotten nor the secrets that have been kept.
Aside from the story, it was nice to catch up with some of the team members we have met before.
Though I am still partial to the original Navy SEAL series, this was an entertaining story.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Booksprout. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
OMG! I cried my eyes out for this couple from almost the beginning of this book. They were both too young when they started their relationship and Damon decided he wanted to be a Seal instead of a boyfriend. He didn’t know he could be both and he never told Martel he was leaving. Stupid boy. Damon sees Martel ten years later at a wedding and realizes what a mistake he made. This is the story of how he and his Seal buddies try to win her back.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was another amazing story from Sharon Hamilton that had me captivated from the very beginning! It made me shed some tears reading what Martel had to go through throughout the years. Phyllis was a character who will probably stay with me for a long time especially with how strong and brave she was and how she got Martel to do something which she really needed to do so she could heal and truly give Damon a chance. I can’t wait to read the next Sunset SEALs book!
