Trev and Mace
A wonderful, sweet, loving, and some steam read. I loved how the characters fell for one another, not really knowing how the other truthfully felt. Trevor and Macy are true, sweet, and strong. I did need a few kleenex in some parts and I absolutely loved the ending.
This was a cute read but also it was a heartbreaking one at the same time. We are first introduced to Trevor, who has suffered tragedy and barely hanging on to himself, but he has a soft spot for animals and owns an animal shelter helping them. He drowns his sorrows in alcohol and works hard for Second Chance, his rescue shelter, but tries to keep his mind occupied from his dark thoughts. He meets Macy, a volunteer at the shelter, and finds himself attracted to her and she is attracted to him , yet she sees the walls he has built around himself. Trevor finds that staying away from Macy is incredibly hard and he feels guilty at the same time. Macy goes along with Trevor’s plans and finds herself falling hard for the man that isn’t emotionally available. As they both try to fight their attraction a lot of things happen that brings them together and some that tries to tear them apart. Will they fight for each other or will they let the ghosts from Trevor’s past tear them apart?
This book was cute… But it wasn’t for me. It was well written and the words were beautiful But in my opinion Macy was a second choice over his 1st wife. With all the thoughts on his wife then just falling in love it just seemed rushed.
I could not get enough of this great book. The characters had great chemistry and the story was written very well. Could not put down.
Truly a beautiful debut novel. Just hits all the right feelings. This one definitely have so much sweetness and at the same thing you ache for them. Trevor and Macy are just two brokenhearted people who’s trying to move on and find their second chance at love and it truly is an amazing and beautiful ride reading their journey! I totally fell in love with them!
Second Chance Rescue is a great debut novel! I do love a good fake marriage and also the dog rescue being included. Trevor and Macy is a story you’ll want to read!
Oh Wow what a Beautiful and incredible debut from J Marie.
I Loved and enjoyed every moment I spent reading the romance between Trevor and Macy, they were meant for one another to mend eachothers broken pieces.
This story brought out all the emotions and was both heart wrenching and sweet…steamy also and their were some adorable moments that I laughed and cried through ,it has been such a pleasure to read this sensational book and I highly recommend it.
What a fun & sweet debut! Trevor & Macy’s story is full of sweet moments between these two, as well as some puppers! You know I love kids & pets in stories, so … *beam*
This is a story of loss & healing, and being open to love finding you when you least expect it! : )
This was a cute debut novel. I have a love hate relationship with marriages of convenience but I found I did enjoy it. I loved the dog rescue, it’s a great setting and automatically gets Trevor in my good books.
My biggest issue is I had trouble feeling their connection like I wanted to. I could feel Trevor’s heartbreak over his loss and at times that felt quite prominent and I wondered if Macy would be able to really get his heart. They were sweet together and I loved their ending so I definitely did come around but I still feel like it was missing the undeniable connection.
The writing was great and it was an enjoyable quick read. I’m looking forward to more from this author.
Amazing Debut novel by J. Marie.
Once I started I couldn’t put it down.
Love Macy & Trevor’s story. I can’t wait to see what else comes from J. Marie. I received this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I was lucky enough to receive a copy of this book and I am volunteering to leave a review.
Trevor is a widow who has let his grief consume and change him. He drinks, exists and feels he will never love again.
When his father gives him the ultimatum to return to the family law firm or find a wife he turns to Macy as his solution.
Macy works at his dog shelter. She is kind and caring to animals, her father and all lost and wounded souls. Trevor proposed marriage to Macy as a contract to save him from returning to the family firm and giving Macy the cash she needs. Macy decides if she is giving five years of her life she should get more.
This story has heartfelt moments, heartbreaking moments and healing moments. I laughed, cried and grew to love these characters. Wonderful flowing storyline from beginning to the epilogue.
“Second Chance Rescue” managed to make me love it from the first page, and I fell for Macy instantly. A strong woman, determined to become someone, to assert herself, to stand on her own feet, a person who has not been without suffering and who has the best friend in the world, Mia (a madwoman I have loved ). When Trevor appeared in the frame, my heart started beating even harder. I was already writting my own scenarios and seeing everything in advance. This man locked in him, who refuses to give his heart, unwilling to experience love. He was not spared from suffering either, and this made him the person he is now. Macy and Trevor seemed to be on the opposite poles, two totally different people … she is warm and sensitive, he is cold and kind of a Grinch, but who loves animals with all of his heart.
But what do you do when you’re facing an ultimatum? You are trying to find the best solution, although everything starts out from a joke … what to think then? Do you still treat it as a joke, or go along with what it implies ? If I think about it for a bit, the most beautiful love stories started out from a joke, little fun has done no harm, but when feelings are involved, things change.
I confess that I was totally captivated by the story of these two and I was enveloped by their experiences. I couldn’t let the Kinde out of my hand until the end, in the last few chapters, because I was falling asleep and the book was getting more intense, I wanted to feel it to its full potential. Being in electronic format, I expected it would be difficult for me to go through it, but I was surprised when I took a look at the chapters and I was getting closer to the end, the writing style is so easy and sometimes very funny, it actually breaks you from reality and determines you to want to find out more and more.
As much as I laughed in the first part of the book, that much I cried in the last chapters. There were passages full of emotions, some of them touched me deeply, they even managed to teleport me into my past and to feel their pain to the maximum capacity, my soul was broken in pieces.
“Second Chance Rescue” presents a story about the second chance at love, it teaches you that although you have suffered, it is worth risking and fighting for what you want, even if you do not have the guarantee of winning, how to become strong, to overcome your fears and to give yourself completely, regardless of the result… how to save yourself .
A beautiful debut novel with great characters. I loved Trevor and Macy. Both have suffered losses in their lives and are grieving. This book is so well written. The author does a fantastic job of making you feel what the characters are going through. I felt so many emotions while reading this book. So happy I took a chance and read this wonderful story.
Such a cute second chance romance story!
I loved the way that J Marie amazingly describes Trevor and Macy and the emotion that they go through. The love, pain, anger is clearly palpable! And who doesn’t like cute pets added into the mix. First book from this author, and I can’t wait to read Mia’s story!!
First off, if I could give this book more than 5 stars I would in a heartbeat! This author has a way with words and had me loving Macy and Trevor from the very first page. I don’t want to give too much away but this second chance romance is like none I’ve ever read and I guarantee you will absolutely fall for these characters just like I did. I can’t wait to see what else this author has for us!
This BOOK! OMG! Love, love, LOVE!!!! A beautifully told story of love, redemption and learning to trust.
Trevor is the best kind of hero! Sweet and caring, if a little broody and wallowing in darkness (and a tad too much alcohol).
Macy is strong, almost too strong for her own good. Used to holding everything together until life deals her the final blow that breaks her and makes her see Trevor in a new light, finally giving them their chance for their HEA.
A definite DO NOT MISS read! 5 debut by J Marie!!!!
This was a great debut book by J. Marie.
Trevor has had a great loss in his life and has sworn off all romance. That is until his father gives him an ultimatum, marry again or return to the firm if you want your trust fund. Faced with a difficult decision he turns to Macy who has been a sight for sore eyes.
Macy is a college student trying to make ends meet while helping to take care of her father. She is at a loss when Trevor comes up with this plan.
Can these two pull off a fake romance? Can they keep feeling out of it?
This was a great book. It took me a little to get into the book but I’m so glad I stuck with it. I look forward to seeing what the author has coming up next.
#KUread.
It’s hard to believe that this is a debut novel. It was so well-written. I can tell that J. Marie put her heart and soul into this book. I loved the whole premise of this book. Second Chance Rescue is about finding your second chance in life and going after what you want. Macy and Trevor have been through their share of struggles and tragedies that have left them heartbroken. However, both of them choose to handle their losses in different ways. While Macy is grieving, she is trying to live her best life and make a career for herself, while helping support her father. Trevor on the other hand is trapped in the past and lost in his grief. He doesn’t know how to move forward so he is just existing and barely getting by some days. When Macy comes to work at Trevor’s shelter, she begins to slowly break down his walls. When circumstances require Macy and Trevor to entire a “fake” relationship, it gives them the opportunity to spend a lot of time together and really get to know each other. As walls begin to crumble, a new light is shed on them both and as their hearts begin to heal, they open up to the possibility of love and a second chance that will change their lives forever. This book is full of emotion, animals that will steal your heart, relatable characters and a sweet and charming romance that you won’t want to see end. My only complaint, is that I didn’t want the book to end! I need to see more of Macy and Trevor in future books!
4 1/2 Stars!
Second Chance Rescue was a great read. It’s a heart string pulling story. Trevor has had a lost in the past. It changed his life and he doesn’t want to love again. He’s drawn to Macy. Macy is sweet, nice, and caring. She’s strong character too. Life throws him anther curve-ball and he comes up with a plan that can help both Macy and him. I loved how this two character grew as the story went on. I loved that we get an epilogue and an extra epilogue.
I was given the opportunity to be an ARC reader for this book for an honest review. I am so very thankful that I have this opportunity as it gives me the chance to take a chance on books I am not sure I would otherwise look at. J Marie is a new author to the scene and I am so very thankful that she found me and asked me to take this chance on her book!
Second Chance Rescue is more than just a second chance for Trevor and Macy, its a second chance at love for the hero. After losing his wife to a car accident, he swears off love and vows that his heart will only ever belong with her. After leaving his father’s law firm, he starts up a dog rescue, while also seeking alcohol to help with his pain and grief.
Macy is a volunteer intern at his rescue a few years later. She admires him from afar but with her own personal life in disarray, and hearing that he lost his wife through the volunteer grapevine, she returns to school after her summer internship is over. They end up seeing each other again after Macy’s friend drags her out of the house to a bar.
With a few more meetings, they begin a sort of friendship, but when Trevor’s dad calls him with an ultimatum, the only person Trevor can think of to help him out with his mess is Macy. Being that she needs help herself, they find themselves agreeing to a fake marriage to help each other out.
Like all fake relationships, feelings grow. Trevor holds back in fear because he vowed his love to only be for his late wife. As the book continues, kisses happen and feelings continue to grow until something happens that has Macy running.
All in all, this book was a beautiful love story about a second chance at love, and a second chance for both Trevor and Macy. Their love is boundless and beautiful. Trevor has just the right amount of dirty talk to get you weak in the knees and Macy’s beautiful spirit is the perfect balance to his growly demeanor.
I did feel as though parts were rushed a bit and I felt like they didn’t get their opportunity to really fight for each other, but all in all, it was a beautiful read that I would gladly add to my library. I can’t wait to see what else this new author has up her sleeve.
Take a chance at Second Chance Rescue, it’s worth the read!
