Second Chance by Jane Suen is book three of the Flowers in December trilogy. Though this book is the final book of the trilogy, it can be read as a standalone. This book is an emotional story that pulls you in until you’ve finished it.

Neither one has anything else on their minds when Connor wakes into the flower shop and thus into Mary Ann’s life. Mary Ann and Connor experience some misunderstandings and Connor realizes he never should have left. Can Connor and Mary Ann get past the hurt they’ve experienced?
This book is an emotional roller coaster but definitely a sweet romance. This was the first book I read in the trilogy but I definitely am going to read books one and two because this book was so good!
This author has become a favorite. And hands down, this book is one that I hoped we would see to wrap up this beautiful series. From start to finish this book and series simply made my heart happy. I loved these characters and loved traveling this journey with them. To truly appreciate this story it should be read in series order. Simply adored it!
5 Stars!
I have loved every book I have read by Jane Suen. They are not my usual genre but for some reason I get pulled right in.
This was such a sweet book watching Mary Ann and Connor find their way back to each other. I enjoyed reading the character of Mary Ann, she is a strong yet because of a rough past with her stepdad she doesn’t trust very easily. Connor kind of irked me at some points, and I had trouble deciding if I really wanted Mary Ann to be with him again.
I love a good second chance romance, so this story was great for me, and I would highly recommend this book, and every book by Jane Suen really. This book can be read as a standalone but I would recommend reading the others in the series.
Second Chance by Jane Suen is the third and final book in the The Flowers in December Trilogy. This can be read as a standalone but I think better enjoyed if read with the other two books. Connor and Mary Ann had parted ways but Connor is back in town. Will Mary Ann allow Connor back into her life. This is a happily ever after but the two have to go over some obstacles to get there. This is a sweet small town romance which will have you rooting for the couple to find their path together. I enjoyed the characters and the progression of their story over the course of the series. I look forward to reading more from Jane Suen in the future.

Second Chance (The Flowers in December Trilogy, book 3) by Jane Suen is a wonderfully written story about second chances. I absolutely love this series and was super excited to see there was another book in this series. I couldn’t put it down once I started reading. I had to know what happens next. Get ready to be taken on a emotional rollercoaster ride and find out if Mary Ann and Connor get a second chance at love? This is one of those series that you will find yourself reading again and again. I can’t recommend this Author or this series enough. Although this can be read as a standalone I do recommend reading the whole series you won’t be disappointed. I can’t wait to read more from this Author and I definitely recommend reading.

I think this was a wonderful finale to this series. The growth and changes that Connor makes throughout these books is remarkable. Throughout all the flashbacks, we get to know Mary Ann more, which was nice. These books take place around Christmas time so it was a fun time of the year to read them. If you’re looking for an easy to read romance that can be read in one sitting, then this is for you.

Second Chance is the third and final instalment in the Flowers in December trilogy by Jane Suen. I really enjoyed the first two books, so I was really happy to find that the third book had arrived. It is everything I could have hoped for as the conclusion to Connor’s story. A lot has happened since we met him back in book one.
This sweet story is all about second chances- with a very realistic and believable storyline. Ms. Suen definitely saved the best till last, as this is my favourite of the three books, for sure.
Even though you could read this story as a standalone, I really recommend reading the first two books before beginning on this one- as all the backstory and other relevant information is contained in those books.
As with the other two books, Ms. Suen had me hooked quite quickly and kept me engaged the whole way through. It is a short story, which makes for a quick and easy read. For such a short story, it definitely leaves an impression.
Looking forward to what ever Ms. Suen decides to do next!
Thank you, Ms. Suen!
Second Chance is the conclusion to the Flowers in December series. After Coming Home, I thought we wouldn’t get the chance to see Connor and Mary Ann find their way back to one another. It was an emotional and heartbreaking but sweet story that I have been hoping for since I first read this series. Jane Suen’s words prove that no matter what life throws at you, love will always find a way to win. I highly recommended this series to any who believes in Second Chances.
Second Chance: The Conclusion of the Flowers in December Trilogy by Jane Suen was a good read. Connor and Mary Ann have had their share of heartache and confusion. Now that Connor has decided to quit his job and leave the big city will he and Mary Ann be able to pick up where they left off or is to late for them to have a happy ending. I enjoyed reading about this couple and the obstacles they were faced with. What will happen when they are face to face again after so many months of silence. Mary Ann is one of my favorite characters. She’s just the average down to earth, hard working girl just looking for love. You won’t be disappointed reading this trilogy

I was excited for this story! Jane Suen did a wonderful job with these characters. They have their highs and lows, but they keep going. I felt that this story focused a lot on moving forward and finding your way. This was a good quick story. I enjoyed this trilogy.
Second Chance by Jane Suen is the conclusion of the Flowers in December trilogy. This is wonderful conclusion to the story we have followed through the previous two books.
It has definitely been up and down for Tom and Mary Ann, to the point where I wasn’t sure if they would end up together or if I even wanted them to. However the author has done such a great job of tying everything up and creating an ending the completely fits the story and the characters.
This has been a great journey to go on with them and, although I am sad to see it end, I like how the author achieved it. This has been a very good trilogy and one that I have thoroughly enjoyed.
Second Chance: The Conclusion of the Flowers in December Trilogy by Jane Suen. I honestly didn’t want this to end. The author has truly created a masterpiece of words. Each books has captured me completely and this one was no different. The author knows how to put emotions into words that can capture the hearts of readers. I truly felt for these characters and rooted for them. Each character brings something unique to the storyline. It’s a well thought out story and it’s paced nicely. It may be a smaller size book but it doesn’t hold back any. Five stars all the way.

Everyone loves a second chance story. Those stories that take you back to a time that seemed like nothing could go wrong. Book 3 was the perfect completion to this trilogy. Connor and Mary Ann are perfect for each other. I love sweet stories that make you feel mushy on the inside. I really like this author. This was the perfect read for me during this holiday season. It gave me a little hope that no matter the situation something amazing could come out if it. I’m not an animal person so I could do without the cat. The author gas a very pleasant writing style. It’s not bunched together giving you too much but just enough to keep your interest. Anyone that can make you smile just from the thought if them has my stamp of approval. I will be holding out for my second chance. You shouldn’t wallow and most definitely not settle.

Many many thank yous to this author for giving us this book. I loved the first 2 but was a bit sad with then end of the 2nd. I had no idea this one was coming and I was so happy when I saw it. This had to be one of the best book 3’s of a trilogy yet, I’m thinking because I wanted it so much!
I was a bit concerned with the going back in time here and there through memories but found that it gave me a better understanding of who Mary Ann was. I loved the small town and this whole story felt so real, along with all the other feels you get from reading this last book in what is a wonderful series. I can’t wait to read it again back to back now that I have all three. 🙂
Jane Suen is an absolute must read, one click author for me, she continues to surprise me and you dont ever get predictable with her writing.
Thank you again Miss Suen for the rest of the story and I’ll be waiting patiently for what you come up with next!
Loved it!
A Bit of Sweet, Romantic Escapism – I just Worry that the Leopard Can’t Change Its Spots
By luck, or maybe poor planning, I ended up with several horror novels right in the midst of the holidays. So, when I saw Second Chance, I knew it was my opportunity to balance out the unthinkable with the sweet. And even though it is the third of a Trilogy, the author’s synopsis describes it as “… a standalone sweet romance.” That worked for me.
Second Chance finds Connor Norton looking for—you guessed it—a second chance with Mary Ann. They met before the funeral for Connor’s mother but lost contact when Connor went back to the city where he worked. Both main characters are well-developed, although a bit stereotypic. I found Mary Ann quite likable as the plucky, no-nonsense business owner. She had suffered through an abusive relationship with a stepfather, making her slow to trust men (one of the stereotypes). But she was open to taking a chance with the right person if she could find him. Author Suen goes to get lengths to make the setting and Mary Ann’s background wholesome but hard-earned. Sometimes, however, this theme went too far. At one point, for example, Mary Ann is recalling her experiences with her grandfather, who had to live “… through hard times.” And then, we transition to his parents, her great grandparents, who lived during the Great Depression, a further elaboration that didn’t seem to advance the story appreciably.
My primary concern about the book may be idiosyncratic, but here it is. Romances often put a hindrance to love between two likable (although perhaps flawed) characters and we, as readers, become emotionally involved in whether, when, or how the obstacle will be hurdled. The blockage can be due to a misunderstanding or a series of them; something bigger than the individuals such as a war; feuding families (think Romeo and Juliet); and so on. And sometimes, as in Second Chance, it’s the characters’ personal traits that get in the way. Using temperament as the obstacle, however, is a double-edged sword; it can show the sensitivity of our characters, but what does it say about a happily-ever-after ending? In the case of this book, it’s Connor’s withdrawal from the world that drove the wedge between these two. And that collapse was serious enough that he left Mary Ann without a word, never called for four months, lost interest in his career, and quit his job. It even got to the point that he almost starved his pet cat to death from neglect before he metaphorically shook himself out of his stupor. And even when he and Mary Ann had been together—the good times before he withdrew—he was happy because he “…felt Mom was there.” Basically, I ended up not really pulling for these two to get together because Mary Ann deserved better. I worry that the leopard can’t change its spots and that the book is fitting material for a tragic love story like The Great Gatsby rather than a sweet romance.
This is the third book in this series and the conclusion. I am a little sad to see it end but I am excited to see what next this author will have for us. This is a second chance romance story that I read in one sitting, I couldn’t put it down. It pulled me in right from the beginning and kept me engaged to the end. Will Mary Ann and Connor get their second chance at love? This is an emotional roller coaster you don’t want to miss. I highly recommend this book.
This is the 1st book I read by Jane Suen. This book’s storyline was okay. This book’s storyline was sad . I liked Maryann’s character. I liked Connor’s character. I liked Tom & Isabella. I liked the ending.
This falls into the genre of clean romance with characters that are slightly older (in their mid to late 30’s). This is a genre space that is missing good stories. Mary Ann and Connor had a solid base plot, with Mary Ann having recently bought a small business in a smaller community and Connor returning to his hometown after a life event left him re-evaluating what was important to him. Connor’s life event thrust him into Mary Ann’s life path. With all of that in mind, this book should have been something I enjoyed, unfortunately, it just fell flat. The book never developed into something where I was able to become emotionally attached to the characters. It had a lot great pieces that I wish would have been developed into a much deeper story. On the plus side this was a fairly short book that had an inspirational feel to it: staying true to yourself, listening to your inner self, appreciate those in your life and be sure to tell them. Those are things that we all should do every day.
