Vampires, Demons, and Bears this series sounds like it’s going to have it all.
Standalone with no cliffhangers.
He will live forever, she is human their love could never work so she left. Now she’s back to care for her mother. As soon as they see each other they know it’s still love, but nothing has changed.
How can they make it work? Can she be changed?
Nice twists and turns in this one.
I listened to this on Audible.
A delightful shifter book with all the ins and outs of pack politics and mates. This is one of my favorite genre of books so I read a lot of them. This one had some twist and turns in the plot that made it especially fun. Highly recommend.
Great read
Second Chance Alpha begins the District Shifters series with a tale of second chance love, fated mates, and a vile villain underground movement, The Matchmakers.
Although Chessa and Noah were young, in love, and at least Noah was planning a future together – Chessa had other plans for college and long after. Noah is a bear shifter, the son of the current Alpha. Chessa is a human, and humans rarely survive the turning – and Chessa just couldn’t make herself become a burden to Noah as she aged and he would not. Her mind was made up… and she delivered that news in a most unusual timing, one certain to drive her point home. They separated but neither was ever far from the other’s mind or heart. Nine years passed…
Noah is being forced to take a mate by his father. Chessa has returned home to tend to her mother – worlds collide once again. Yet this time, Noah isn’t about to let Chessa go so easily for he has new information that could provide a way for them to have that future she’s so afraid of. If Chessa has one particular protein, Sanmere, in her blood she could survive the turning and be able to have Noah’s children as well. It’s a big “if” but Noah is insistent that she at least try. Her decision will have repercussions — for it’s not only Noah who knows about the protein but the Matchmakers also know and now Chessa is in grave danger.
Second Chance Alpha is a tense, gripping story that sets the coming series up nicely and gives us a couple to care about and root for their happiness to become a reality. I wanted to smack Noah’s father upside the head so many times for his stubbornness. Of course, I couldn’t but I wanted to so – badly. I enjoyed Noah and Chessa, they have a sizzling chemistry that heats through the page. We’ll also meet some characters that I hope will find their own happy ending at some point in this series – good thing I can binge-read this one.

Chessa and Noah were high school sweethearts and meet again after 9 years. Their feelings are just as strong for each other, soul mates. When it turns out that Chessa can be with Noah for all eternity, they still have a battle to fight to be together.
Nice story, exciting moments, and in the end love conquers everything

At first glance the story seems to be about second chances. Chessa loves Noah. But Noah is a shifter and immortal. She is human and will age like anyone else. What chance of a future could they have? But there will be a twist later in the story that will bring some action and danger. The romance is definitely there but also some fun and danger.
When I started reading this story, I could not put it down. I read the book in one day. This author is an awesome writer. I can not wait to read more of their books. Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book.

This is such an exciting book I got pulled in from the first page. I couldn’t put it down till I’d finished it. I don’t understand how a parent could put their wants and wishes before their child’s, this father did. This book has so much intrigue, passion, chemistry, and suspense. I loved it, Chessa loves Noah so much, she will to anything to make him happy.

Noah and Chessa were high school sweethearts who broke up because of a big difference between them. Noah is an immortal bear shifter and Chessa is human. Rather than cause more pain for them, Chessa decides to move away. Years later she’s back to care for her ailing mother and sees Noah again. The spark is still there. This is an entertaining story with great characters, suspense, twists and an ending that left me wanting more.
This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Second Chance Alpha by Lola Gabriel is the first book in her District Shifters series. I really enjoyed the way this read was presented. The shifter districts is an interesting take on the territory aspect of pack life. I thought Chessa and Noah’s story was sweet, spicy (Mature Readers Only) and heart warming with just the right amount of action to keep your heart pumping. A fun read that holds out promise of a great new Lola Gabriel series!

This was a great second chance book. Chessa and Noah have the connection and love that we all want. When she walks away to give him a chance to find happiness with someone else who will live as long as he will, she never stopped loving him. Noah never found anyone else to replace Chessa. When Noah finds a solution to their problem, his father steps in to stop it. What Chessa and Noah have been through and what they went through because of his father, just made them stronger in their love. This was a great book with wonderful characters.

What lengths would you go to go after the one that got away … especially when it wasn’t a fight or incompatibility or infidelity that caused the break to begin with? When Noah was given a chance, he was sure he was not going to waste it.

Chessa and Noah were high school sweethearts. She knew he was a bear shifter and she didn’t want him to have to watch her die because she is human. So Chessa leaves him so he can finds happiness with someone else like him. Noah let her go but knew she was the one for him. Now years later his parents are making him take a mate and he meets Raina. Raina is agreeing to the match because of her father’s debts but she doesn’t really want to mate with Noah. After they meet for the first time they run into Chessa who is back home taking care of her mother. Raina sends Noah on to Chessa because she believes in fate and that they are to be together. However when he broaches the subject with his parents they demand a blood test to see if she has a protein in order to safely change into a shifter. Chessa is kidnapped after the results of her blood test and Noah learns that she was taken to a Matchmaker. Will Noah’s parents allow him to have his happiness? Will Noah save Chessa in time? What will happen with Raina?
This is an amazing start to a new series. Once I started this I couldn’t pull myself away from it. The chemistry between them is scorching hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Noah and Chessa knew they belonged together,, even if Noah was a bear and Chessa a mere human. But Chessa wants to spare Noah the pain of seeing her grow old and die while he will just continue as a young man. Turning seems to dangerous a chance to take.
Years later, Noah finds himself with a prospect bride that his parents have decided on to be the right one for him when Chessa returns and old feelings return.
The story is about fighting tradition and pride against the modern concept of love and compassion. An interesting read, with a touch of suspense and magic.
An entertaining story, well-written and enjoyable.

Noah and Chessa had been together since high school. And Chessa knew that Noah was an immortal shifter but she couldn’t bear the fact she would grow old and become a burden to him. So when her sister called saying their mother was not doing well and needed care, Chessa took the opportunity to “set Noah free” and left him. It’s been nine years and Noah’s father has arranged a mating for Noah with a woman named Raina. Neither of them want this. But Noah has a plan until Chessa’s nurse Freya comes into play. This is an emotional rollercoaster of a story with twists and turns seemingly around every corner. There’s an underlying plot running through the story that will keep your interest peaked, trying to find out what’s going on. This is a series worth following.
A wonderfully written story with great characters and storyline. Chessa and Noah were high school sweethearts. Noah is an immortal bear shifter and Chessa is human.
