Playmaker is an interesting romance, it’s almost more like a mystery than a love story. Kaden and Delaney are already firmly in love at the beginning of the story, but Delaney has unexpectedly left – taken off without a word to Kaden, and he’s heartbroken. What he doesn’t know if that Delaney on the run from some very powerful people, and she is concerned for his safety if she lets him in on her secret. Fate brings them back together again, in the most beautiful setting, the San Juan Islands off the coast of Washington State. It takes nearly half the book before we learn what and who Delaney is running from. Then the story changes into Delaney trying to decide whether to stay or run again, and Kaden trying to figure out how to get her to stay. While she’s terribly afraid, Delaney ultimately makes her decision with the help of most of the Sockeyes team, knowing they will have her back.
Playmaker is interesting and suspenseful, and there’s a slight twist I wasn’t expecting toward the end, right before the happily ever after, which added a little oomph to the story.
Playmaker is an awesome distraction from real life, and a great addition to the Seattle Sockeyes Scoring series – but I have to admit, I’m going to be eagerly awaiting for Steele and Cin’s story coming up next! So much mystery and tension with those two!
Can Kaden, a hot hockey star, help Delaney. Delaney and Kaden meet by chance in a dingy bar and a one night stand turns into forever. Playmaker is an intriguing hockey romance with suspense and engaging characters.
This story has all the elements I love in a good story. A sexy hockey player, a strong female and an intriguing story. Kaden has a good heart. He really cares about Delaney and he will do whatever it takes to help her.
This is an entertaining story and there are many engaging secondary characters that add to this story. The Seattle Sockeyes are a close knit hockey team and they all jump in to help Kaden and Delaney get their HEA.
Thanks to the author for providing a copy of this book via Bend and Snap. The opinions expressed are my own.
I wanted more from this story, yes it was engaging and it kept me going, but I felt like it was lacking the sports side of it.. when I read a sports romance I need to read more about the character’s life being an athlete plus their relationship..
Although this is a sports romance, there is very little actual hockey in it. I had a bit of hard time getting into the story until I was about halfway through the book. This is the first book I’ve read by Davenport. That being said, I LOVED how sweet Kaden was with Delaney. Delaney’s situation was unusual, but not as dire as she really believed. Kaden swept in and helped her deal with her “demons.” Lots of steam in this story, too! The ending was equally as sweet as Kaden. 3.5 stars
A new entry in Jami Davenport’s latest series about four friends who play in the NHL, Scoring. Kaden has achieved his dream of playing in the NHL for the Seattle Sockeyes but it has turned to dust. He is currently suspended from the team and the woman he loves has disappeared. Life sucks!
He hires a former player now a professional PI to find the woman he knows as Lanie. Lanie is actually Delaney, a member of a prominent family who knows something she shouldn’t and has been on the run for a while. When her past caught up with her in Seattle, she ran away to protect herself and Kaden.
Having read the earlier books in the series, it’s nice to finally find out what is going on with the mysterious woman Kaden has been seeing. He gets his act together and is reinstated on the team and now he needs to get his personal life in the same place. When he finds out where she is, he and the gang head to Madrona Island. Note: this is a shout out to other books by Ms. Davenport. The interesting part comes when teammate and friend Steele, lets it be known that he can help because “he knows people”. This seems to be a recurring theme in a lot of these hockey themed books- the team is like your family and they are there for you through thick and thin. Even the WAGS (wives and girlfriends) add their support and advise wanted or not.
Needless to say there is lots of drama in this book, some secrets are revealed, and of course there is plenty of hot sex! Sometimes, I find these damsel in distress books to be annoying, but this one worked perfectly well with a little stretch on the bounds of reality. As in the other books there is just enough information about other characters besides the lead to make you anticipate the next book in the series- hint: hope it’s Steele!
I was never a hockey fan but I came across her book Crashing the Net, an early Sockeyes novel and loved it. Now I’m a total hockey romance fangirl. Maybe I’ll actually watch a game soon!
Another awesome hit by Jami Davenport! This is an awesome series that has more than just romance and hockey! This particular book had quite a bit of mystery…and we saw reappearance of the Puck brothers and a surprise wedding! Laney is Kaden’s “the one” he is in love with her without realizing it and she is running from a past that could kill her and anyone associated, or so she believes. She runs from Kaden to save him….they run into each other again in the most unlikely way.
This is such an awesome story…you will love it if you just take the chance! I was offered an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
We finally get to meet Kaden’s mystery woman. Kaden and Lainie meet in a bar and hit it off immediately. Yet she wants to stay well below radar. She hasn’t met his friends. They have a very secretive relationship. We find out she is on the run from some very bad people. When the people get close, she runs. Leaving Kaden confused and heartbroken. Their love is so sweet as they fight to keep one another safe and both sacrifice their own happiness for one another. Love these two!
This is the 3rd book in this amazing series and is Kaden and Laney’s story. Laney is the daughter of a powerful politician and she was the alibi for her boyfriend; however, she is in danger and is on the run constantly. Kaden is a sexy hockey player, and he and Laney meet in a bar there is an instant attraction between them, and after a 1-night stand they both feel they want to see more of each other, but it need to be kept as a secret. When Laney’s past comes back to haunt her, she runs again, leaving behind a devastated Kaden who hires a PI to find her. This is a beautifully written flawless story which is filled with emotions, danger, twists, secrets, suspense, and love, which all lead to a riveting and addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this gifted author whose work I highly recommend for all.
Jami Davenport gets a hat trick with the third book in The Scoring series, PLAYMAKER. This is hockey defenseman Kaden Westbrook’s and Delaney Springfield’s story. It takes place in Seattle, Madrona Island, and Washington DC. It is suitable for adult readers.
I was looking forward to learning more about Kaden’s mystery woman after the previous book. I was not disappointed. I loved Delaney’s character. She was idealistic and a good person. She is on the run, fearing for her life. She falls in love with Kaden but is afraid for his safety, so she leaves him. Kaden was crushed when Delaney left. He does not handle it well, nearly costing him his career. I love his persistence in finding her.
I enjoyed how the two characters grew tremendously throughout the story. They discover a lot about themselves and the other. The plot was skillfully executed. The story was interesting from start to finish. I appreciated how other characters from the Scoring, Seattle Sockeyes Hockey, and Seattle Steelheads Football series were incorporated into this story; especially Drew Delacorte (Seattle Sockeyes Hockey #8). Jami Davenport continues to do an amazing job this series. I recommend this story to people who enjoy sports romances and political/crime thrillers. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Playmaker is book three of the Scoring series set in Jami Davenport’s world of the Seattle Sockeye. The Scoring Series has followed the Puck Bros as each has fallen for his lady love. These books can be read as standalones but each does mention characters from the other books.
In Playmaker we finally get to meet Kaden’s Mystery woman. We learn what has set him off that causes him into a bar fight and leaves him suspended for the end of his rookie season. Delaney, (Lanie), is running in fear for her life. She is running from her past and running from Kaden in fear that what she is running from could harm him. For almost a year Kaden and Delaney have been dating in secret. Lanie is not ready to expose her self to the world and that includes Kaden’s friends. One phone call sends Delaney running from Kaden with out saying goodbye.
For year Kaden has been drawn to Lanie. He knows she is his everything but when she doesn’t show for their date and just seems to vanish, he can’t handle it. It sends him a spiraling. With the help of his roommate Steele Kaden realized he needs to find Lanie.
They come face to face while Kaden is on vacation and a chance encounter. Has Kaden hoping for a future and Lanie worried and thinking of running again.
This was a quick read. I liked the little bits of intrigue in the story. It was great to see little glimpses of Kaden’s teammates. This is not a typical Hockey Romance since it takes place in the off season, hockey is really an afterthought. With hockey in the background we do see just small snippets of Kaden’s teammates.
This is a 3/5 star read for me. When I read a hockey romance, I do like a little bit more hockey in them. I liked the feelings that game day add to the story. Navigating the complexity of being a pro athlete. This story didn’t really have any of that in it. It was light on the sports. Kaden’s character could have had any profession and the story would have been unchanged.
There is so much emotion in this book and so much goes on with Kaden and Laney and her disappearance that it’s hard to not continue the story. It’s suspenseful but has so many lighthearted moments, especially with Kaden and his teammates. They are family and I loved how they were there for him.
Playmaker is the third book of the Scoring series but it could be read as a standalone because we didn’t get to see a lot of Kaden’s girl in the previous books.
Kaden’s first season as a Seattle Sockeyes’ rookie didn’t end in a good way, he can’t believe he put his career and dream work at risk for a woman, a woman who disappeared in thin air without even saying goodbye.
Delaney has no other choice but keep hiding and running away, leaving all her loved ones without saying goodbye, but she never imagined that Kaden would have made everything in his power to find her again.
Will their love be stronger than fear?
I enjoyed this story so much, the suspense, the thrilling, and also the funny times.
I loved to see the Puck Brothers reunited and helping each other.
I’m already looking forward to Steel story because I think it will be so much enterteining to see him melting for a woman.

Playmaker: A Seattle Sockeyes Puck Brothers Novel (The Scoring Series Book 3)
Kaden and Delaney
I felt like this book well balance with all the right elements that makes a good read.
I don’t often read sports romance so when I do get the chance it a refreshing to switch up I was pleased about how the MC were introduced in the story and it was nice to see the outcome of these two.
I voluntarily read an advanced copy and this is my review.
I’ve been intrigued with Kaden and his mystery woman since I started this series. I was dying to see who she was and what was her deal. This story did not disappoint.
I was having a blast while reading this and read it in one sitting. Both MCs were easy to like and together they made a great team when she finally lets her guard down.
All in all this was a great story and I’m looking forward to see what happens next with Steele because that man needs to find someone to even him out.

3 1/2 STARS!
Her secrets have turned into a danger no one saw coming! With the third book in The Scoring Series Jami Davenport takes us back into the heart of her Seattle Sockeyes hockey world to hunt down true love. The premise of the story starts out exciting, but sadly the follow through falls flat when there was so much potential there to make it keep us on our toes. The story is filled with members of the Sockeyes, but there’s no hockey practice or play whatsoever in the story line, so even the sports aspect was disappointing. It held my attention and kept me reading, but I wanted more.
Kaden is a sweet character. He has the rep of being a player, but since the night he met Lanie he’s been all in and when she disappears without a word, he’s heartbroken. He sets out to find her to make sure she’s okay. I enjoyed the emotion he brought to the story.
Delaney had a set-up to bring a lot of tension to the story line but there was no follow through with the suspense. Her about face towards the end was quite the let down, but their eventual HEA was sweet.
I’m looking forward to Steele’s story after getting to know him a little more in this book.
Kaden Westbrook knows Delaney Springfield is only giving him half-truths, she is far too guarded about things in her life and it is evident she is hiding things from him. His teammates think he is not the only man in her life, but he thinks it’s not that at all, he gets the feeling she is in danger, and he wishes she trusted him enough to tell him what she is running from.
But before he can get to the bottom of things she is gone without so much as an goodbye, and he just can’t leave things that way between them. The moment he met her he knew she wasn’t a one-night kind of girl, no, she was the kind of girl you hold on to, and that is exactly what he wants to do… but first he has to find her!
With it’s dramatic and suspenseful story line Playmaker is a story that is impossible to put down. Once your eyes find the words you will be completely transfixed by them, they paint a heart-torturing picture of a couple who obviously belongs with one another, but are kept apart by secrets and a past one of them is trying to outrun. Delaney is trying to escape the mistakes of her father and the man he wronged in the process, and all Kaden wants to do is keep her safe. There is so much push and pull between these two, both wanting to save one another from the danger that is lurking. But also wanting to give into their hearts and the feelings growing between them, knowing it may cost them everything. I loved watching this story unfold, and seeing these two find their way back to one another, and get their well deserved happily ever after. I have got to say this one delighted on all fronts, it’s wonderfully crafted characters took me on a journey that was not only enthralling, but it also squeezed my heart in all the right places! Highly recommend!
I requested an advanced copy of this title and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
Wow, what an amazing story! 5 stars for this one!
We meet Kaden in this story, he’s met pretty much the woman of his dreams, but just as fast as he’s had her, she’s gone.
Lanie is running again, she’s in danger and she doesn’t want Kaden to get hurt, but fate has other plans for these two!

Grab this one asap!
Playmaker is book three in The Scoring Series and it is the perfect combination of enjoyable characters blended into a story with enough danger and intrigue to keep the pages turning.
Lanie has been keeping a big secret from everyone, especially Kaden. She is in danger and in order to keep everyone safe, she sees running as her only option. He knows they have something special and will do everything he can to find her.
Lanie is a strong woman and has sacrificed a lot but now she has a hot, protective hockey player and all of his friends on her side. She now has to decide if she should run again or stay and finally find happiness.
Third book in the Scoring Series of the Seattle Sockeyes Hockey team by Jami Davenport. An intriguing love story about Kaden, one of the infamous Puck Brothers, and the mystery woman who has stolen his heart. When Delaney disappears without a word Kaden goes into panic mode. He also begins to doubt everything they shared. He finally comes to the same conclusion as his friends, She is married!!! He tries to forget her but can’t! So he sets in motion a plan to find her. A fun read with a touch of intrigue! My only thing missing is this is a hockey romance with NO HOCKEY.
This is book #3 in the Scoring series of the Seattle Sockeyes, Kaden and Delaney’s story. This grabbed me from the beginning with it being dark and a mystery surrounding “Lanie”. She is Kaden’s mystery girlfriend, one, his fellow players believed was married since she never came around and never wanted to be in any pictures or shared any info about herself. Kaden realized he knew very little about her even though they have been seeing each other for a while. He goes to meet her at a bar and she’s not there. Lanie had just found out some info and realizes her life is in danger so again she runs.
Kaden is determined to find her, can he? And if he does, will her past allow her to be with him or will he even want to. Can they trust each other? Will they be safe?
I enjoyed their story and also Kaden’s teammates being a part of it. Next comes Steele’s book and I’m am so intrigued and can’t wait.
