Seems I can never get enough of this author’s stories!
Jami Davenport never ceases to blow me away and I love the bit of mystery that’s been thrown into Playmaker. One thing you can always count on when you start a new story by Jami is a solid, well-written story with characters that will always impact you in some sort of way. And for me, Playmaker has stood out more than the other in this series.
Kaden and Delaney’s story has a bit of mystery to it and I was intrigued from the very beginning. This isn’t the first time Delaney has made an appearance, but now it’s time for some answers as to why she’s hiding something. I truly enjoyed that Playmaker was more than just about hockey. Though that’s still the theme surrounding the team, the mystery involving Delaney gave the story depth. I love this approach that Jami took with these characters and it shows that there’s more to these hockey men than just being in the rink.
Playmaker is another fantastic read from an author that I absolutely adore. Hockey fan or not, there’s a great story here that’s sure to keep you flipping pages. Five stars!!
I love Jami Davenports books. Her characters come to life on the pages for me . Kadens girl has been a mystery for a while to us. We finally get to meet her. She isn’t what I was expecting but better than I expected. Lanie is a great fit to Kaden.
I liked how the author brought the story to a close and ended the turmoil that was within the storyline. It wasn’t expected. But was ?
Kadens character could be your boy next door kind of guy he is such a great guy and mannerly but not… where Lanie is well Lanie. We know she has secrets and they are revealed yet she is still her.
Good weekend read book.
Jami is one of my go to authors.
I loved it!
This is the third book in Jami Davenport’s Puck Brothers Novels, and even though each of these are stand-a-lones, they have interconnecting characters, with cameos from our heroes of hockey novels past. Of these recent books, Shutout and Blocked, I have most been looking forward to Kaden’s story, because he and his secret have been simmering away quietly in the background, and I have been all kinds of intrigued. Throughout the first two books, he’s been decidedly secretive and passing on the sexual favours of the puck bunnies, and has been disappearing for days at a time in between training and matches.
Then, at the end of Blocked, we found out that Kaden had gotten into a fight and was suspended. His playing and concentration had dropped, and the guys knew it was due to the woman he’d been seeing. They believed she was married! Then he told them that she’d disappeared.
And this is where we met Delaney. She has one hell of a secret, and it’s not a marriage she’s hiding! She’s on the run, and in the prologue, she stands him up, disappearing from his life without a goodbye, leaving Kaden worried, angry and frustrated enough to land his career almost in the toilet.
Ms Davenport has written for us, one hell of a ride. It’s exciting, full on and somewhat suspenseful, yet still has the all of the witty banter that I love about her books. These puck brothers are there for each other through thick and thin and I love the camaraderie that she has written for them.
I have to admit to tears in one of the end scenes. No spoilers from me, but I absolutely loved the way that Jami Davenport finished Kaden and Delaney’s story – in a very unorthodox manner, and very typical of them. Yep, I just loved it!!!
Before I go, let me just say that I thought I was all agog for Kaden’s story, but seriously Jami Davenport has just whetted my appetite even further for Steele! He is really all secret squirrelly and stuff! I had to laugh at his contribution to this book, and I feel that he almost stole the show. He’s met his match, and I’m hoping this will be what lights a fire under his love and romance denying backside. Bring it on!!
Meanwhile, 5 Stars for this book!!!
Kaden thinks the world of Delaney and when she disappears his world goes in a tailspin. He gets in trouble with his team and players. When he finally finds his woman on an island she wants nothing to do with him. Delaney fears getting close to anyone, but Kaden has worked his way in like no other. Kaden and Delaney were a great example of opposites who work perfectly together. Loved getting to see past couples just having fun and being themselves. Steele is such a mystery can’t wait to see where Davenport takes him.
A story with a mix of everything that you are sure to enjoy.
I’m a big fan of sports romances, mixed with some drama and even a bit of suspense. This series has been great so far, with Kaden and Delaney being two of my favorites. Delaney is running but Kaden is not having any part of it and is determined to find her and keep her. Will her past hurt their future? It’s a story with a mix of everything that you are sure to enjoy.
Delaney is the daughter of a powerful politician. With her life in danger, she must disappear. Delaney is on the run from the life she once knew when she meets Kaden. Kaden is a rookie hockey player for the Seattle Sockeyes. The attraction is instant, and they can’t keep their hands off each other. When Delaney’s ex’s conviction is overturned, he is set free, and witnesses start dying. Delaney knows she has to run again but running from Kaden breaks her heart. Kaden gets into a drunken bar brawl when Delaney disappears that gets him suspended for the remainder of his rookie year. Kaden holds out in a cabin away from everyone and everything. Kaden makes the decision to hire an ex Sockeye turned private detective to find Delaney. While on vacation, Kaden comes face to face with Delaney. Kaden is heartbroken when Delaney makes it seem she is with someone else. Delaney knows she must push Kaden away to keep him safe. What will Kaden do when he learns Delaney’s secrets? Will Delaney keep running or fight for a future with Kaden? Will Delaney come forward and reveal she is alive and well when a photographer recognizes her? Can Kaden set Delaney free to pursue her passion? I absolutely love Jami Davenport! Playmaker is a fantastic books with great characters who will make you laugh, swoon, and sometimes beat your head in frustration. The chemistry between Kaden and Delaney is like a blazing inferno. I would highly recommend getting Playmaker and the other books in The Scoring Series. I received an ARC of this book, and I am leaving my honest review.
The Playmaker is the first book from this series I have read, and I must read more. I love following Delaney and Kaden’s story, it has the perfect mix of mystery, suspense, romance. The book also shows that if you have the right person in your corner, everything can work out. Having never read Ms. Davenport’s books before, I look forward to reading more from this series and from her.
Delaney aka Lanie Springfield is a politician’s daughter, so of course she will be following in her fathers footsteps and ready to take on the world. But instead she is running from that life and her ex-fiancé. From DC to Washington State Lanie never dreamed that one night she would run into the man of her dreams at a bar who was able to take her to the moon and back. It seemed to be going well when she got the call that her ex-fiancé was released from prison and all of a sudden all the witnesses are missing. Now she has to run again in order to protect the man she fell in love with. She just hopes that one day he will understand she never meant to hurt him.
Kaden Westbrook is one of the stars of the Seattle Sockeyes and it seemed everything was going his way including finding the woman of his dreams. Then she disappears as suddenly as she had appeared and he lost it all including being suspended so his team lost. Is what his teammates think is true? Is she married? Is she a fraud? But he will do anything to find her and the truth.
Will they be able to find each other again and overcome all the dangers? Will she be able to finally tell him why she is running?
This book isn’t just romance it is also mystery and action. You never know what is going to happen next. Plus you are able to already seen the magic between the characters in the next book of the series. I’ve been a long time fan of Jami Davenport’s books and this is one of my favorites!!
This was a great read. I was looking forward to finding out about Kaden’s mystery girl.
Kaden doesn’t know why Delaney ran but he is determined to find her. She is the one that got away and he needs to know why.
Delaney is on the run. Just when she felt comfortable again things make her run to keep Kaden safe.
Can Kaden convince her that running isn’t the answer?
Great read can’t wait for Steele’s story.
An awesome story with great characters. Love that they all band together when someone needs help. Loved it!!

Playmaker by Jami Davenport was the third book in the Scoring series, a spinoff from Davenport’s Seattle Sockeyes series.
Davenport had teased us previously with the mysterious woman that had tamed the wild and untamable Kaden. Kaden Westbrook was a rookie defenseman for the NHL team the Seattle Sockeyes. He was a rising star. His mystery women we never met but his teammates and fellow Puck Brothers – a small group of guys that went through training camp together and were vying for spots on the team – thought she was married.
Playmaker opened with the mystery woman having a name, Delaney, and she was waiting for Kaden at their designated bar. Kaden was late and Delaney got a call that told her she needed to run, again. And the story began to unravel….
Davenport took us through a plot full of mystery and suspense. Kaden had just started the off season so the hockey was minimal but the team bond was still present with the Puck Brothers. Davenport also began to reveal glimpses of Delaney and her reason for running. No spoilers, but it was a worthy and entertaining read.
Additionally, Davenport set the stage well for Steele, the final Puck Brother. He was the silent and orderly one of the group and had just met his extreme opposite. Did I say extreme? Yeah, it had promise for a wild ride. I can’t wait for Steele’s story next in Icing.
An enjoyable read.
Kaden and Delaney have an all encompassing love, but she’s afraid to put him in danger with things from her past.
We see how you stand by those you love no matter what.
I was excited to be back in Jami Davenport’s Scoring series, as I am in love with the Puck Brothers! Playmaker is Kaden’s story.
When the mysterious girl he was seeing disappeared without a trace, Kaden can’t let it go, even though his teammates tell him it’s probably for the best. He knows in his gut that something more is going on with her disappearance and vows to find her and discover what has her always hiding in the shadows.
Delaney is on the run. The only way she knows to keep herself and those she cares about safe is to keep moving and never get too close to anyone ever again. She didn’t want to leave Kaden without a word, but felt she had no choice. But, now that fate has brought them together again, will she decide to make her stand or will she disappear into the wind again leaving both her and Kaden heartbroken and alone?
I really enjoyed how strong and steadfast Kaden was in his feelings for Delaney. Even when everyone else thought the worst, he never did. And, Delaney was selfless in her quest to keep everyone she loved safe, even if it meant a life alone. Together the couple had lots of heat and were also a cute pair. Kaden’s need to cook when he is distracted or thinking things through is adorable. I have to say, I’m also dying to learn more about Kaden’s teammate Steele and his mysterious background and family.
Playmaker had a good suspense plot while also being a sweet romance. Toss in a wedding or two and it made for an enjoyable read. 4 stars.
I haven’t read any of the previous books in this series, so I wasn’t familiar with any of the characters. Overall, I don’t think I was missing out on anything of extreme importance in regards to the story. I liked Kaden, he was honest about his feelings for Delaney and supported her from the beginning even though he didn’t know her secrets. Delaney wasn’t very trusting but couldn’t deny her love for Kaden. I liked the characters and was very into the storyline until the conflict resolved itself. The book doesn’t really qualify as a hockey romance since the entire plot takes place on vacation during the offseason. There was the element of suspense, and Delaney feared for her life. I was preparing myself for some action and drama, but it never happened. *SPOILER* Delaney meets with her dad (who conspired to get Kaden out of the picture) who says the bad guy is dead, and suddenly pushes her to go to Kaden. And the whole drama surrounding the photographer recognizing Delaney never materialized into anything. Overall, I liked the story and the characters were great, but the ending fell flat.
Kaden and Delaney have an instant attraction to each other but have been hiding their relationship due to a secret she has. When she disappears, Kaden spirals out of control. Kaden’s teammates convince him he needs to find her and get her back so when they run into each other again he is not going to let her disappear this time around. Playmaker is the third story in The Scoring Series.
Playmaker was my first book from Jami Davenport. I did enjoy this book but unfortunately, it fell a little flat for me as a sports romance and would put it more in the romantic suspense category. The book takes place in the off-season and there was not much mention of the actual sport itself. The connection between Kaden and Delaney was undeniable but I felt there was more interest in the side characters than the main characters. There is a good build-up to the next book in the series.

This is book three in the The Scoring series and Kaden and Delaney’s story. Kaden is a rookie for the Seattle Sockeyes, who wasn’t looking for a girlfriend, but found one when he met Laney. Now Laney’s missing and he must find her and find out what is going on. Laney is the daughter of a powerful politician and on the run for her life after her ex fiancé was released from prison she felt she had no other choice. I loved Kaden and Delaney’s characters and they had great chemistry. This was a riveting read and the side characters were entertaining that added depth to the story. I loved this story and highly recommend it to everyone.
I was a little surprised with this book. When the story finally came out about Lanie, I thought Kaden would hire bodyguards to protect her, but that wasn’t the case. Instead, all of the friends rallied around her and discussed options. It broke my heart that Kaden chose to give Lanie up and let her live the life she was born to live. But Lanie comes through in the end and love conquers all.
Now, Steele is quite the enigma. I don’t know who he or his family is, but dang they have some ties in big places. I can’t wait for his book.
I have been waiting for Kaden’s story and I’m so glad it’s finally here! I loved Kaden and Delaney’s story and was so happy to meet Kaden’s mystery woman. I was so worried about who she would be and I was not disappointed. I am loving this series and this is my favorite book so far. Can’t wait for Steele & Cyn’s story!
I love this series!
This book has the perfect balance of romance and suspense. Kaden and Delaney were great together! Their attraction and chemistry was sizzling hot! The story grabbed me from the start and kept me reading! I enjoyed all the emotions, suspense, danger, drama and humor. It’s a fantastic read! I can’t wait for the next book in the Seattle Sockeyes Puck Brothers series!
This book has it all – suspense, intrigue and chemistry off the charts! I love The Scoring Series by Jami Davenport!
In this book we meet Kaden’s love interest. Kaden is a rookie hockey player on the Seattle Sockeyes. Unfortunately, Delaney (Lanie) is running from a past and one night she fears her past is closing in on her and she disappears before she’s able to see Kaden and say goodbye. Kaden is distraught that she’s disappeared and gets into a fight that leaves him suspended from the playoffs and his future with the Sockeyes in jeopardy.
Kaden’s fighting to keep his job and hires someone to help him find Lanie. They locate her on an island but she’s still pushing him away. She believes she’s protecting him and keeping him safe but he doesn’t know what he needs protection from. He’s willing to take a chance with her and he doesn’t understand why she won’t trust him with her secret because their chemistry is undeniable and both of them still love each other.
A quick, fun, read!
