Chefs Petr Sergeyev and Lacy-Jane Macalister can’t agree on anything except for that they can’t agree on anything. Lacy-Jane Macalister returns to her hometown, eager to prove she’s not the culinary failure her ex claimed her to be. After a career in the military, Petr Sergeyev settles down in Rios Azules to help his brother with his nephew and new business. Grandpa Alexey’s is the only place in … place in town that needs chefs.
He’s for hearty meals. She promotes healthy food. He likes order. She prefers creativity. He left his girlfriend. She was betrayed by her fiancé. Their arguments are more heated than the stove in the restaurant’s kitchen. But when Lacy-Jane’s sister and Petr’s brother decide to have their wedding soon after Christmas, Petr and Lacy-Jane put their differences aside to give their siblings a great reception. A ruined wedding and failed business are not on the menu. But as Petr and Lacy-Jane learn more about each other, romance just might be.
Will Petr and Lacy-Jane surrender their wills to God and receive Christmas gifts of love, faith, and hope?
This book, Season of Love, was first published as Love’s Christmas Cheer, as part of the First Street Church Kindle World. The book has been revised, improved, and greatly expanded in length, so it’s nearly twice longer.

I loved Petr and Lacy-Jane’s story!!! They had met years before, and both had wanted to get to know the other, but things didn’t work out. When they meet again, Lacy-Jane is not quite the girl Petr remembered. She’s closed herself off, and thinks she’s not good enough, after her ex-boyfriend took credit for her work, told lies about her, and almost destroyed her self esteem. Petr decides to protect himself from showing her just how much he cares, and uses his wit to hold her at bay, so their banter back and forth is great!!! Petr gets under Lacy-Jane’s skin, and helps her to see that everyone isn’t like her ex, and that Petr loves her just as she is, and won’t try to take over, he just wants them to be a team in and out of the kitchen.
This overtly Christian story deals with letting go of guilt––particularly guilt that wasn’t yours to put on to begin with.
It also deals with self-perception… our value isn’t based on what other tell us or how they treat us.
A sweet second romance in this family. I enjoyed these character and their story as they fought their feelings for each other. It was also great to see Melinda and Andrey so much and to learn some Russian wedding traditions.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
What a beautiful love story! Petr and Lacey-Jane are a delightful couple – SO much fun to watch them FIGHT…. falling in love! Lacey-Jane’s struggles with wanting to tell God how her life should be going 😉 so, SO familiar! This book really spoke to my heart.
The Season of Love took my emotions on a whirlwind ride–angry, hopeful, humored, and joy-filled. Petr and Lacy-Jane start out as enemies, which makes for a very bad work environment considering they’re both chefs in the same kitchen. Petr is a meat and carbs kind of guy, and Lacy-Jane is all about healthy eating. The attraction between them sizzles in this clean romance. The reader is treated to a great introduction to Lacy-Jane’s sister Melinda. (I won’t say anymore about that because I don’t want to spoil it for you.) Petr’s brother Andry owns the restaurant and is Melinda’s fiance. All four of these characters are truly likable. Petr’s and Lacy-Jane’s faith flows naturally through the book although they definitely don’t have it altogether at the beginning of the book. There’s a fantastic HEA! I highly recommend this book to readers of clean/wholesome romance and to Christian romance readers. I obtained my copy of this well-written romance through KU.
Food fights are not read about they really do have some issues with food on this ride as the siblings have their go this time. Lacy-Jane fresh off not only the end of a romance gone bad but being fired for something that she didn’t do. Petr doesn’t understand the problem and is gonna need a lesson in sharing as they fight over the menu for their siblings weddings. Not only is it a clash of strong willed people it’s also about pride. When the lessons get too much it’s time to let God do what He do and make it all right again. I love this author’s style and love these crazy, emotional and yes loving brothers as they meet and marry and allow God to change them all in His own special way. I love how this author tackles real issues in a way that makes it fun, interesting and makes you want to read and fall in love with her characters. These brothers fall hard and fast and aren’t afraid (well at least not in the end) of the work God will do to encourage them to be the best they can be.
