Single dad Dylan McGregor wants to give his two sons the best life possible in the small town where he’d grown up. When his youngest son writes a letter to God asking for a Mom for Christmas, Dylan reluctantly starts dating again. His lifelong friend, Joy Avila, agrees to help him find the right woman. Then Dylan begins to see Joy in a new light and believes she’s the right woman for him and his … his family.
Overweight and teased in school, Joy never hoped her first crush, Dylan McGregor, would return her feelings. Confident and successful now, she’s found her passion in writing about international travels. The trip of a lifetime awaits her after the holidays. Instead, will she find her dreams right there in Rios Azules?

I really liked this best friends turned more romance. The accident prone nature really kept me on my toes. I really hated having to put this book down. The characters were so endearing and engaging! It was great to see some past characters too. It was a very thorough romance that had so much more than I expected. Very introspective.
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Loved this book. Read in just a few hours today. Could not put it down. The scene with Dylan, kids, and Joy at the airport is priceless. Wonderful book.
I enjoyed this clean christian romance. I voluntarily chose to review it. I’ve given it a 4.7* rating. Lots of conflicts and action in this. What with children and pets to stir up mischief, and past relationships to stir it up some more, there was humor and sorrow to to level it out. There was just a lot going on in this story, kind of like life is. I’m looking forward to more of this author’s work.
Great little love story! Dylan’s son writes a letter to Santa in the newspaper asking for a mom! Dylan’s lifelong friend, Joy, helps weed through the responses for likely candidates. Dylan and Joy are both great protagonists as Dylan begins to look at Joy in a new light! I recommend this Christmas romance to others. I received a complimentary ebook of Season of Joy. This is my honest opinion
Can Joy. ANd Dylanhave future together? She is been in love with Dylan all her life but she has commitment issues. Dylan has two sons to raise, after divorcing her addicted ex-wife, and a huge responsibility. But with faith, friendship and love everything Is possible in Christmas.
This is an overtly Christian story.
Ah, one of my favorite tropes––best friends meet up years later and clear up some long-standing misconceptions.
The characters are well done. The dialogue and situations seem realistic.
Keep tissues nearby. There is some action and major drama.
BEAUTIFUL, WONDERFUL, MARVELOUS! Fantastic… and just a whole lot of fun! Dylan Jr and Travis, Dylan’s sons, might just have stolen the show-they certainly stole my heart!-but you can’t help falling in love with Joy and Dylan too. If Rios Azules was a real town with all of the characters as it’s citizens, I’d want to move there – and I am not a fan of heat or humidity! Another awesome story with amazing characters. Next book, please!
A heartwarming story of a young boy’s letter to God and the way his prayer was answered
My rating is 3.5 stars
As you are probably aware, it is unusual for a romance story to contain a heroine who is not thin and gorgeous. Author Alexa Verde stepped out on a limb by creating Joy as a plus-sized character. I applaud her for that! It did seem like the author made her a little too perfect in every other way (except for her clumsiness). Somehow, whatever was needed, Joy was the answer to it. Her primary failing, at least in Dylan’s eyes, was her fear of commitment. Other than that, it was hard to not like Joy.
The boys and Dylan were lovingly incompetent males when it came to domestic chores such as cooking. It was fun how the boys kept reacting to the potential of Dylan cooking. Their hearts were large and the love they had for one another was touching, especially Travis, who apparently was in a rough situation before he was adopted. I enjoyed the way he continually watched out for Junior and even tried his hand at matchmaking.
With various adventures, several trips to the emergency room, and some disastrous dates that Dylan went on, Season of Joy is a heartwarming story of a young boy’s letter to God and the way his prayer was answered.

I was given a copy of this book for free. I was not required to give a favorable review nor was any money received for this review. All comments and opinions are my own.
A beautiful second chance for a man and woman. The friendship they enjoyed long ago blooms to something much more. The story handles some really tough issues – verbal abuse, drug abuse, self-doubt, fear of being hurt again. A wonderful book that really shines a light on how much God loves us and wants us to have joy.
Can two old friends find true love with one another? Great story, and I love watching Joy come into her own!
Seasons of Joy is the second book in the Azules Christmas Book Series. It definitely can be read as a standalone but reading the other story will give more background to the characters. This is a novella set around the Christmas season and is a sweet romance that I thoroughly enjoyed. Following Dylan, a single dad, and Joy, a lifetime friend who has come I response a letter from to his boys for her to come to help their dad find a mom for them made for a delightful and sometimes humorous read. I was given a copy of the novella, but a positive review was not required. The opinions expressed are my own, and this is another one from this author that I certainly recommend.
