Who doesn’t love a hot and sexy surfer. My realtor told me his aunt wrote romance books so I decided to read one. I certainly didn’t expect such a steamy story, but the book is well written and kept my interest though to the end.
In Half Moon Bay, Luke Hunter is a rock star on the waves. He’s also a gentleman, a good friend, a farmer, bee keeper and incredibly close to his dad. Tonight, he’s grand champion of the Expression Session surf competition that punched his card to compete in the Mavericks contest of the Big Wave World Tour. It’s a dream come true! Isla Lang is a journalist. Her dream job is to work for YouTube, occupying a corner office and interviewing the most famous people in the country. Her “for now” job is with Summer Breeze Gossip, writing fluff pieces on local celebrities. Brenda, her boss, sent her to do a special story on Luke and “give the public just what it wants.” Isla’s a little star struck in his presence, not only because he’s a wonder to behold, but he’s caring, kind and just saved her from her stalker ex, Kyle. He signs on to do the interview and Isla wants to conduct it from up the hill, overlooking the Mavericks. Comfortable in each other’s company, this is going to be a series of interviews that really fleshes out the real living and breathing Luke Hunter. Through hiking, picnics at the beach, a night tour through Alcatraz and its ghosts, selfies of a shared kiss and a night spent at the Kissing Room, the first sparks of their attraction burst into flames. Just as life couldn’t get much more perfect, their illusion is shattered. A personal tragedy alters Luke’s life plan. The farm, the animals, the bees he inherited from his father are now his focus and future. Isla gets her dream job and will be moving to San Francisco. This will split them up for good. He was in pain, she was in pain and their pain became mine. Oh, I was invested in them, all right! But then came the Half Moon Bay Fair. Isla had never experienced such unconditional love within an entire community before. Everyone was so welcoming, especially now that she was “Luke’s woman.” Tears of pain became tears of joy and I shared those, too. Jennifer Jones weaves magic through this book and its people. Her description of the beach, the surfing, the way of life and the Mavericks all attest to the fact that she has experienced this life. With rich, fully-developed characters, a beautiful and suspenseful plot and a setting to die for, Seaside of Love is an immensely gratifying read. Perfection!
Jennifer Jones’s Seaside of Love: A Pleasure Point Novel was a totally fun/filled romp. I love both it’s very independent heroine, adventurous Isla Lang, and it’s pro surfer dude / country boy with heart Luke Hunter. Add in some really nicely steamy encounters and a plot that has some real meat to it but is full, totally enjoyable, and very well written, and the result is one heck of a good book. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend.
