I have everything they said I would need. A degree, a job, an amazing group of friends—but there’s one thing missing… To him we’re nothing more than friends—good friends. To me he’s the one man who makes my heart beat faster. It doesn’t matter that his affections are elsewhere, I continue to love him from a distance dreaming of a happily ever after. Then…my world is turned upside down. Even … upside down. Even if we manage to find each other through this storm, it will be a race against time.
A fight against all the odds.
The battle of a lifetime.
No matter where this road takes us, I won’t regret a thing. He’s the man who owns my heart, my soul, and everything in between.
And his name…is Sean.

THIS BOOK… what a read! I devoured this novel in one sitting, ignoring real life and escaping to the Pacific Northwest with this couple for the day. Not by choice, but because I couldn’t put SEAN down.
SEAN (More than Friends #1) is the start of a new series by the wonderful Fiona Keane (author of the award-winning NOWHERE GIRL) for the new adult and adult contemporary romance audiences. The story is told through our female MC, Avery, who just received her master’s degree. She has a tight-knit group of friends, including our male MC, Sean.
Have you ever had friends who are close like a couple, seem attracted to each other, but haven’t reached couple status? You know, the friends who flirt with each other constantly, maybe make some googly eyes, and seem to be a perfect fit? That’s Sean and Avery. Avery admits to the reader as soon as Chapter One that she’s attracted to Sean, and it’s easy to see why. He’s adorable, beautiful, flirty. Problem number one: Sean has a girlfriend–and Avery’s dating. Still, the two of them banter like pros, and from the first time we see them together, we cannot wait to get them to their happily ever after.
But this is a full-sized novel, with two people who have to figure out how to morph a friendship into a romance, and Ms. Keane does not make it easy for them. Sean’s girlfriend and Avery’s dating life are not the only obstacles this couple will face. As soon as these two start to figure things out, BAM, we’re hit with a heart-wrenching twist. While reading this book, I actually wondered if they would make it, because I’m not so sure I would have been able to! I won’t give it away, but I’ll say that Ms. Keane gave me all the feels with this story– a roller-coaster ride of emotions that thrilled me as a reader of romance. And you’ll definitely fall in love with Sean.
Besides the romance between Sean and Avery, SEAN introduces us to a group of friends who are so close they’re like family to each other. These characters will make a wonderful series, and I cannot wait to continue in this world with them, as they fall in love and navigate that twenty-something, coming-of-age period in their lives.
This book will make you swoon, cry, laugh, and wish you were sitting around the table with this wonderful group of friends. Beautifully written (as are all of Ms. Keane’s books), SEAN is a wonderful start to this new series.
My favourite book by Fiona Keane. Poetic. Soul crushing. Page turner.
This is the first book in a new series from this talented author. Sean and Avery are best friends, and she has loved him for a long time. This is a well written story which is emotional, heart-wrenching, gritty, and with twists which had me intrigued throughout. The only down side, in my opinion only, is that the plot was not as in-depth as I would have liked, as certain events were skimmed over, when it would have been great to know how they were resolved. However, I look forward to reading more from this author, and I recommend her work for all.
This book was heart wrenching and sweet. It was a good read, but I think if you are more so for serious and gut wrenching romance books, you would enjoy it even more! I usually like a bit more of a lighthearted books, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it!
The story is about Avery and her love for her best friend, Sean over a really long period of time. Some crazy twists went down and the story really gets interesting with these and seeing how the characters deal with it- which was excellent by the way!
It is definitely more of a serious read, but the author did a great job showcasing that. I am giving it a 4.5 out of 5 stars, because it was more serious than I was expecting, but was amazingly portrayed!!
PS: I received this book free in return for my honest opinion.
