When Chance McCallister left her to join the Navy SEALS, Mandy Loomis was devastated. Now, more than ten years later, Chance and his brothers are back in town for their father’s funeral, but Mandy is no longer that moon-eyed teenager she once was. She’s a fiercely independent woman determined to solve her own problems—and she has plenty. When her gambler father died two years prior, he left … left Mandy—along with a successful auto repair business—a ton of debt owed to a ruthless loan shark. Mandy is barely getting by, and when her mechanic quits, she’s in a real bind. It just so happens, Chance is willing to help out. Sure, Chance is bigger, stronger, and sexier than ever, but Mandy isn’t interested in anything but his mechanical skills…
Or maybe just a bit interested in his kissing skills—which, by the way, are just as good as she remembers.
Mandy wasn’t the only one brokenhearted when they were just teens. Chance never did get over his first love, and seeing her now only brings back those feelings in a major way. He’s grown up a lot since he left their little town, and now that he’s home, he’s determined to win back the girl he never should have lost. If only he can convince Mandy that he can protect her from the loan shark and his thugs, and that she doesn’t have to protect her heart from him.
But just as the two are beginning to realize they’re meant to be together, the loan shark makes things more than just a little precarious, putting both their love and their lives in danger.
more
Mandy runs the garage her dad left her but he also left her a debt. He owed money to a loan shark and has to continue paying the loan until it’s paid off. Chance is a former SEAL and is back in town after his father passes away. He and Mandy dated in high school but she broke up with him when he left for the Navy. When Chance sees a man demanding money, he gets a job in her garage to keep an eye on her. Chance comes up with a plan to get the loan shark off her but he has to go undercover for the FBI and find out who the main man is.
Action, sex, and second chance at love. Loved these two, they are meant for each other.

Chance and Mandy broke up 12 years ago, he went and became a SEAL and she stayed in town and took over her farther’s business after he passed away. Now He is back and their mutual attraction is undeniable … like seriously get me a fan its so hot! Seeing them dance around the issues, Mandy trying not to let him know of her troubles and Chances total Alpha attitude makes for one great book full of action, suspense and plenty of sexual tension. I really hope the next book is about Pepper and Harris as I think Pepper would totally drive Harris nuts with her attitude lol

Every reader who reads as much as me needs a book like this. Even in rough tines they emerge as a couple. I found this story the best just what i needed
I really liked the flow of this book. There was good background into the characters upbringings and past history with each other. The plot had enough intrigue to keep me engaged and I always love a happy ending.
Not up to par with other books by this author.
Great book
Real page turner. Couldn’t put this book down. Brilliant storytelling and believable characters. Nearly late for work because I wanted to know what was happening next.
Greatvstorybwith twists and turns. Chance and Mandy have lots of spark. Throw in some crime and you have a page turner. This is the first book in a series and it should be a good read. I wish the story had been longer.
Great read
This was a good read. Both Chance and Mandy need to be smacked upside the head a couple of times but I’m glad they got their second chance.
Second Chances
At first love. Mandy is trying to keep the garage open after her father’s death and finding out any about the debt owed to the loan shark. Chance and his brother’s are back, he was home sooner after leaving the Navy to take care of their dad before he died. When he shows up at the garage to pick up a part they ordered for him he see’s a bad guy scaring Mandy. Can he help, can they love again.
Great storyline with strong characters that draw you into their world and keep you hooked until the end. Chance left Mandy to join the SEAL’S and have a future. 10 yrs later he comes back to town for his father’s funeral. He realizes his feelings for her never faded and he’s determined to be with her forever. But Mandy has her own issues and doesn’t think Chance can save her. Great ending.
This is the second novel I’ve read by this author, and I wasn’t terribly impressed with the first one I read, but SEALs and a second chance romance pretty much had me from the get-go. I’m sorry to say that while I found this a short, sexy, and mildly entertaining read, I had more than a few issues with it, and for that reason, I’m giving it 2.5 stars.
I liked the idea of this story–the 3 McCallister brothers, all retiring from the military at around the same time, some voluntarily, one as the result of an accident, leaving the sniper brother with a vision impairment and a medical discharge. They are all back in their hometown to attend their father’s funeral and then to decide how to pick up their civilian lives.
The primary character in this novel is Chance McAllister, the eldest, whose high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Mandy Loomis, broke up with him on the same night he told her of his enlistment in the Navy, and planned to propose to and marry her before boot camp. She was so furious that he never even consulted her before he enlisted, she told him she wanted no further contact with him at all, and that’s exactly what she got to go along with her broken heart for the next 12 years.
Fast forward 12 years, and after his father’s funeral, Chance shows up at the Loomis garage, which was his home away from home for years, only to learn that Mandy inherited the garage after her father’s death 2 years earlier, and the information she’s keeping from Chase, is that she also inherited her father’s gambling debts, and has been trying her best to pay off the loan sharks for the past two years. but no matter how hard she tries, she can’t keep up with the payments. Chance has already encountered the slimeball debt collector, and is ready, willing and able to help Mandy, but she won’t tell him the truth about her situation, which is where I began to have a problem with this story.
Mandy and Chance have explosive chemistry, and so she’s perfectly willing to have a whole lot of hot sex with the man, but by the fifth or sixth time I read about the size and strength of his erections, it grew rather tiresome. I don’t mind reading explicit sex scenes, but when they take the place of any real communication between the parties involved, and when there is virtually no character development from the beginning to the end of a novel, I feel as if the author took the easy way out plot-wise.
Then there’s the issue of Mandy’s debt problems, and her utter refusal to let Chance help her, and he only learns how it happened from her roommate. Mandy broke up with Chance because he didn’t consult with her about his plans to enlist, but he does it again by going behind her back to find out what’s going on. I can understand Mandy not wanting Chance to be hurt, but hello, he’s a Navy SEAL after all!
In addition to the aforementioned hot sex, both main characters spend most of the novel in their own heads, trying decide if they still love one another, which also became redundant. There was more than enough time and space to include something that was sorely missing–why did these two people fall in love in the first place? We learn that they lost their virginity to each other back in high school, but never does the author explain what drew these two characters together other than sexual chemistry, and the fact that Chance liked to help Mandy’s father work in his garage. While I can see the appeal of a hot, hunky Navy SEAL, we never learn what drew Chance to Mandy outside of her often-mentioned physical appearance and their sexual chemistry. I consider this a rather large oversight, especially since even at the HEA ending, I still had no idea what these two characters would see in each other once the sexual fire between them dimmed after several years of marriage.
There were so many missed opportunities for real emotional depth and growth in this novel, and for this second-chance romance to really be a romance, rather than being a rather shallow story about two sex-crazed former high school sweethearts who have been apart for 12 years, have not gotten past their hots for each other, and a rather unoriginal plot about an unpaid debt to a loan-shark, a faux kidnapping, and a rescue, all leading to the HEA ending.
If you’re looking for a quick, steamy read without much depth, character development, or real involvement with the main characters, you’ll probably enjoy this short novel far more than I did.
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.
I couldn’t finish the book. I got about 50% into it and put it down. I liked the story. Chance McAllister left to join the Navy and eventually became a SEAL. When he left town, he left Mandy behind. Each of them feels the other left them and now that Chance is back their chemistry is off the charts.
Mandy is having to pay for her father’s gambling debts with a bookie and his thugs. When Chance discovers what is going on, he wants to protect Mandy and take care of her.
I think this story has a lot of potential but the turnoff for me was the constant reference to or innuendo or blatant sexual descriptions. It seemed to detract from the story. It was if the story was secondary. Just a personal preference but not my cup of tea.
I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.
As high school sweethearts, Chance and Amanda’s lives took different paths. When Chance comes home from the military, he sees that things for Mandy have not been easy. Finding that she is in real trouble, the story becomes fast paced as Chance jumps into the danger, putting himself between Mandy and the loan sharks. Their story is romantic, and filled with suspense, as these two rekindle love again. I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley, with no compensation. My review is voluntary. 4.5 Stars!
