All her life, Rachel Winchester has fought against the idea that she was nothing but white trash destined for Loserville. Now, it seems all that fighting was for nothing. Sure, she’s running a successful B&B and, yes, she finally had her way with a man she’s crushed on for forever—Harris McCallister, the guy she’s flirted with for years; the guy she’s thought about and pined for. She’s … finally feeling good about the future when—bam—she gets pregnant. True or not, in her world, nothing says white trash more than an unmarried pregnant woman. Worse, her “loving” mother is threatening her over the B&B and the property it sits on, all because of a silly legend about a pirate’s buried treasure.
Harris doesn’t know what it is about Rachel, but he’s always been drawn to her. With her brightly dyed hair and sexy-as-hell tattooed body, she’s impossible to ignore—and drives him crazy in all the best ways. Finding out she’s carrying his baby has him thinking things he’s never thought before. Thoughts he brutally pushes away. Returning to active duty as a Marine Raider is what he wants, not settling down and playing house. He’ll stick around just long enough to make sure Rachel and the baby-to-be are safe from increasingly disturbing attacks they both believe has to do with an old legend about a pirate’s buried treasure. The longer he stays, though, the tougher returning to duty is becoming. But when the time comes to head back to the Marines, he has to make the toughest decision of his life—duty to his country, or life with the woman he loves.

Until next time… Happy Reading!
Seal’s accidental family
This is Book 2 in The Seal Veterans Series, Harris is the middle brother and is a marine
He’s got 30 days compassionate leave so when Rachel sees him she takes the opportunity
To spend the night with him. What either didn’t count on is the surprise neither new they wanted. I really enjoyed Harris and Rachel’s story two very strong people who need each other more than they no. This was a very good evening read, can’t wait to see what Lee’s story is.
This was a great read with great main characters as well as secondary characters that added to the story too! The chemistry and connection between the main characters was also hot but also beautiful; a wonderful combo!
I loved the storyline and the characters keep you in their world as they try to work through their personal issues. But you root for Rachel and Harris to figure out how to be together, be happy and most importantly be a family.
Romantic and sultry
SEAL’s Accidental Family by Leslie North is a well written romantic suspense with wonderful characters and an intriguing plot.
Harris and Rachel are a beautiful couple, full of fire in and out of the bedroom. They really turn up the heat to compete with the sultry summer of the south. Harris is a true alpha warrior, the ultimate protector and a romantic at heart. Rachel is fiercely independent and slow to trust, but truly kind and sweet. I adore these two and their story.
Overall, a wonderful book I found difficult to put down, the HEA is promising and leads to the next book in the series which I cannot wait to read next!
1 1/2 stars. *****SPOILERS AHEAD******
Clearly I was not a big fan of this book. Harris and Rachel were just okay. There didn’t seem to be any depth or growth to their characters. While they each had some past experiences to make them wary of each other, the amount of animosity didn’t translate for me. Then Rachel states she is 2 months pregnant, but goes to get a sonogram and finds out the sex of the baby. Ummm….NO. Not only do I question if this author has ever had a baby, I question if this is a female. Also, I discovered a pet peeve while reading this book. Peanut allergies are serious. If you are going to use it as a plot device, it should be more realistic. Someone who is “highly allergic” to nuts would/should have an Epi-pen with them. Or at least mention it, ie: “I left it upstairs” or “It’s in my purse”. And after ingestion said nuts and then vomiting, she cleans the floor instead of getting to the ER immediately?!?! Too unrealistic for me.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
This book was fantastic. I so fell in love with Harris. He was absolutely drool-worthy. What a great male protagonist!!!! Rachel was a wonderful female protagonist. She had a life filled with hard knocks so she was a strong female to match with Harris’ Marine strength. It was amazing to watch the chemistry between this two. Throw in a possible pirate’s treasure and multiple attempts on Rachel’s life and you won’t want to put this down.
I was glued to my e-reader as I couldn’t put this down. The story just draws you in. The suspenseful but romantic plot will keep you on the end of your seat. The sparks between these two start flying right from the very beginning!
I highly recommend this story to anyone. While this story can really be a stand-alone, I would recommend reading the first story and get to know the older brother Chance and just a little bit about Lee (his’ story is the third in the series.)
3.5 stars—SEAL’s Accidental Family is the second instalment in Leslie North’s contemporary, adult SEAL AND VETERAN erotic, romantic, military suspense series focusing on the McCallister Brothers-Chance,Harris and Lee. This is Marine Raider Harris McCallister, and B&B owner Rachel Winchester’s story line. SEAL’s Accidental Family can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Harris and Rachel) SEAL’s Accidental Family follows the building relationship between Marine Raider Harris McCallister, and B&B owner Rachel Winchester. On leave following a failed mission, and the subsequent death of his father, Harris McCallister came face to face with the woman he has lusted after for a number of years. A one-night stand, leads to an unplanned pregnancy, and Harris makes plans for the future knowing he may not be around when the child is born. A series of attacks against the woman with whom he will fall in love finds Harris battling between head and heart, as Rachel struggles to trust the man who has fathered her child. What ensues is the building relationship between Rachel and Harris, and the potential fall-out as misunderstanding, greed and betrayal send Rachel’s life spiralling out of control as folk tales of buried treasure begin to bring out the crazy.
The relationship between Rachel and Harris is one of immediate attraction; a one-night stand that turns into something more when Rachel discovers she is pregnant. Not wanting to force Harris into fatherhood, Rachel gives Harris the option of moving on, only to discover that Harris is willing to step up and take control. Issues of trust continue to plague our leading couple, issues that will push Harris out of Rachel’s life. The $ex scenes are steamy and hot.
We are introduced to Rachel’s mother Tammy, and her boyfriend Darryl, as well as several guests at Rachel’s B&B.
SEAL’s Accidental Family is a quick read; an enjoyable, provocative, engaging and fast past story wherein one man will find his happily ever after in spite of the turmoil surrounding his life. The writing style is simple; the conflict is quickly resolved.
I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved this story. The main characters were each so well drawn with their personalities and personal challenges. It didn’t take me long to really like them and want to see them win. Together. I liked that this book not only had the great main characters but there was plenty of emotions, romance, mysteries and some dangerous actions going on. I think this book is now going onto one of my favorites by this author.
Rachel has had to be tough growing up the way she has but she still has a huge, caring heart. The way she grew up just added to her insecurities and misunderstandings between the M.C.’s. But it also added to some hot make-up sex.
Like Harris points out to her, Rachel shows a lot of love and caring in the way she treats people around her. Especially the people who come to her B&B. Now, her “loving” mother was quite the disaster. She just keeps adding to Rachel’s problems. And her mother isn’t all that smart when it comes to picking boyfriends. You’ll have to read the book to find out if she has any redeeming qualities at all though.
It’s shown over and over what a great guy Harris is, even though he isn’t always understood by Rachel. She was used to having to do everything herself without any help. She failed to recognize that the love language that Harris had was..acts of service. Of course, working on stuff was about the only time he and his dad had together too. I really appreciated the unusual quirk/skill that Harris had. It was like the land spoke to him. It was explained that it was like the land called to him. It was something that aided him and his team in the military and does so again at home.
I LOVED how creative Rachel was when she does the gender reveal to Harris. It was unique, charming and fun.
There is a good H.E.A. for the couple in the Epilogue and leads into one of Harris’s brothers needing his help. A bit of that adventure was seen in an excerpt of, “SEAL’S Home-coming.” Sounds interesting and it looks like its out now.
“I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.”
Awesome, Awesome, Awesome! I loved this story!! It has a well written storyline and flows along beautifully. The characters are strong, independentw and perfect for one another. Harris and Rachel had a one night stand that resulted in a surprise pregnancy. When Harris learns that he is going to be a father, he steps up and offers to be there for both, Rachel and his baby. While on extended leave, he moves in to her B & B in an effort to get to know each other better and help her with repairs. Then Rachel’s life is threatened and he will do whatever it takes to keep her safe. Their chemistry is explosive and soon he realizes his feelings are getting deeper for her, but what will he do? Go Back to active duty or take a chance of having a family of his own. Highly recommend this book. It’s a page turner.

Now I know Harris’s story. I read them out of order. He didn’t even know he wanted a family of his own until she told him she was pregnant. He manned up and fell in love with her because she felt like home to him. Wonderful story.

A rocky road of love that is well written. This enjoyable second chance romance includes lack of communication, steamy moments, mistrust, sabatoge, and suspense. Coming back into town Harris and Racheal have a second chance and get to know one another after their one night stand that resulted in an unkown pregnancy. I was engaged page after page.

(Review with spoilers)
Second book in the series. I loved the romance between Harris and Rachel. I recommend it.
The first time Harris and Rachel have sex, he’s going through a rough time. He’s lost one of his best friends, and he’s also lost his father. Being with her made him feel better, and he couldn’t stop thinking about her while he was with his siblings. He wanted to see her again, and he didn’t expect the news she gave him.
Rachel had wanted to be with Harris a long time before she did (like him). That night was special. Because she was with him, and also for something else. She didn’t expect to get pregnant, and that brings out her old insecurities. For years she has wanted to show, in her community, that she is not a failure, that she is not like her parents. Being a single mother won’t help her not to feel that way. But she wants to have her child.
I love Harris. He always wants to help others. He’s been so worried about his siblings that he hasn’t focused on himself. And now he doesn’t either. He wants to help Rachel. Not because the pregnancy, or how he feels about her. They’re friends. And spending more time together will be good. They’ll get to know each other better, see if there’s a future in their relationship. But he didn’t believe it. He blames himself for not keeping his family together. It’s not fair that he blames himself. It wasn’t his responsibility. They separated because of everyone. And he was the only one who got along with everyone. He’s not as bad as he thinks.
I love Rachel because she’s struggled all her life to have something of her own, not to be the person everyone thinks she is. But it hurts that she only does it for that, that she thinks that other people’s opinions matter. What matters is what she thinks of herself, and she can’t be happy if she doesn’t leave her insecurities behind.
I love that they don’t think about getting married right away because of her pregnancy, that they want to get to know each other first, that they see how their relationship is progressing, before deciding if they can be together or not. They are going to have a child, but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be together. It may not be the best thing for the baby. And, seeing as they argue, that they’re not completely honest with each other, and that they don’t trust each other, it’s not the best thing right now.
I love that Harris is strong enough to recognize that he needs help, that he can’t leave suffering and guilt behind on his own.
I found the treasure hunt interesting.
I received an ARC from the author, and this is my honest review.
When Rachel Winchester and her mother inherited a home, Rachel used her funds to turn the home in to a B&B. Harris McCallister, Marine Ranger, is home on leave recovering from the loss of his best friend during their last deployment. While home, he is notified that his father has passed away. That night, he meets Rachel again and they spend the night together. A month after their night together, Rachel learns that she is pregnant with Harris’ baby. She is slowly making a success of the B&B and her mother wants to search the grounds for a supposed buried pirate treasure. When Rachel refuses to allow the search or to sell the B&B, her mother’s new male friend threatens that if Rachel’s business fails, he will take over the property. Obvious acts of vandalism occur that threaten Rachel and her business. She can’t believe that her own mother would try to ruin her. Harris is stunned by the news of the pregnancy, but moves in with Rachel to protect her. Will Harris be able to leave when his new deployment comes through? Has time with Rachel changed his priorities? I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
This is the second book in the “SEALS and Veterans” series and it is a compelling, fast pace page-turner that is completely engrossing from start to finish. The gripping storyline is well-developed, action-filled, humour-filled, suspense-filled and intriguing. Amazing and strong characters; the chemistry between them is HOT. I am looking forward to the next book. A must read!

While I’ve read many series by Leslie North, SEALs & Veterans has to be my all time favourite to date. The series follows the lives of the three McCallister brothers after the loss of their father and how each brother deals with the emotional impact.
Seal’s Accidental Family is the middle McCallister brother’s story, and as per the title finds Harris suddenly faced the unexpected reality of impending fatherhood. The story shows a depth of warmth and sensitivity in this imposing Marine, and that the unanticipated can often be the best thing that could ever happen to a person. Harris rediscovers that the simple things in life are what make him the happiest and that loving a vibrant, colourful and feisty fairy could potentially be his future.
As with all deep romances, Rachel and Harris have obstacles in their way, not to mention someone determined to cause mayhem and havoc, at the risk of Rachel’s safety; add to that some misunderstandings and preconceptions to filter through, and you have to wonder whether parenthood will be enough to bridge the unknown and keep this perfectly matched couple together.
Harris and Rachel are a fabulous couple and barring some moments when I just wanted to shake (gently of course) the stubborn and independent Rachel, this book was beautifully written, made me swoon at the passion Harris committed to the nursery project, and basically want a Harris of my very own.
I’m a huge fan of Leslie North and she did an outstanding job with this storyline. It has it all ,surprise pregnancy, sex and a legend about a pirate’s buried treasure. This book is very arresting. The characters Rachel & Harris are no strings attached but Rachel cares for him. Their chemistry is remarkable and exciting. Rachel is in danger and Harris wants to be the hero. This has a hea.

This book is second in the SEAL & Veteran series and it features Harris and Rachel. Fate had a whole life planned for these two but getting there was the hard part. Chemistry wasn’t the problem. The problem was deep rooted insecurities and trauma. The bit of mystery and suspense was a great addition to the romance.
The story line was great. In the beginning their attraction was strong but as the story progressed it felt more forced out of duty, yet the steam factor was high. I’m looking forward to book 3.
