This gem screams “beach read” from the cover image and the evocative title. Thing is, Jan Moran’s latest novel is quite simply a wonderful story that is a great red at any time of the year. Still, if you want a book that makes you feel like the sea breeze is streaming through your hair, this is for you. After Ivy’s husband dies, she discovers he owned a beautiful house on summer beach. She and her sister Kelly head there to rebuild their lives…but their pasts pop up in the most inconvenient places. Quite simply a fabulous read.
Seabreeze Inn, Book One by Jan Moran is a delightful, entertaining summer beach read. The characters were charming, relatable and likable. For me, it was a heartwarming story of love and the way family and friends come together and rally to help one another in times of need. Jan Moran is hands down one of my very favorite authors who never disappoints me with her writing and storyline. This book had a bit of suspense and romance and once I started reading it, I couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series and rated it a five.
When Ivy’s husband, Jeremy, passed away, he left her with mountains of debt. She was surprised that he paid cash for an old Victorian house, in Summer Beach, California. . Ivy and her sister, Shelley, traveled from Boston to California to see about selling the property. She decided to stay and make it into an inn. She runs into many obstacles to make it. The author is very descriptive in the details of the history of the town, the house
and characters. I enjoyed this story immensely.
Erin Bennett is a pleasure to listen to. she captures the characters, She does an amazing job portraying the characters, giving each their own voice and personality.

“Maybe there’s something else in store for you. Another life than the one you’d planned”
When Bay family “issues”, force Ivy Bay Marin and her sister Shelly come back the West Coast after decades away, they are planning on finishing the settlement of Ivy’s late husband Jeremy’s estate with the sale of an abandoned white elephant of a house. Little does anyone know what Summer Beach will do to keep them there. Las Brisas del Mar soon has them in it’s spell, bring the past to the present in resplendent style.
How authors like Jan Moran can keep things interesting amazes me! From historic France to America; to Italy; from the world of perfume and chocolate to the California beauty scene, each of Moran’s books is captivating, and reflects her love of the written word as well as her insatiable curiosity. I can hardly wait to dive into a second and then third helping of the adventures that await Ivy and Shelly! Highly Recommended. 5/5
Wonderful Story & Narration A Heartfelt Delight!
Seabreeze Inn
Summer Beach, Book 1
By: Jan Moran
Narrated by: Erin Bennett
I loved everything about this book, from Jan Moran’s wonderful writing style to interesting storylines and characters she created to Erin Bennett’s fabulous narration. The beautiful story flows naturally and the descriptive details are amazing, the author makes you feel like you are right along side the characters seeing what they see and feeling what they feel. The characters are likable and easy to relate to. I adored the lead characters, Ivy and her sister Shelly, as well as Bennett Dylan. The secondary characters are pretty awesome too and contribute a lot to the story. Ivy’s life takes an unexpected turn, she had a life in Boston, a husband, two daughter college age daughters. Then her husband, Jeremy, passes away she learns he had secrets, he not only left her in debt but he had purchased a large property in Summer Beach in her home state of California. She listed the property for sale hoping to pay off the rest of the debt with a bit to spare. Ivy and her sister were heading to California to see their Mom and since the property is not seeing they are visiting the property to see what they can do. Bennett Dylan is the realtor handling the property, she had a crush on him in H.S but he does not remember her so their meeting is less than cordial. Then the unexpected happens, something about the house, calls to Ivy and she decides she is going to keep it. But in order to keep it she has to come up with a plan and that plan includes making it a business, an Inn. She is faced with many obstacles but she is determined to make it work and overcoming them. Including getting the community to accept her, they are skeptical because of her husband and his plans for the property. I loved the history of the property, Las Brisas Del Mar, its previous owner, Amelia. Erickson and what they discovered in the house, I thought it was all fascinating. I admired both Ivy and Shelly, their relationship amongst themselves, their family and the possibility of building new relationships including love interests and most admirable is their courage to start a new life. I loved how everything plays out in this book, it is superbly plotted and there is never a dull moment with plenty of drama, a bit of angst, humor, many heartfelt moments and a bit of a slow burn romance. Jan Moran, thank you for this amazing story, I need to visit the “Seabreeze Inn” again and am looking forward to what comes next for these wonderful characters!
I listened to the Audible edition, Erin Bennett is a talented narrator and voice artist. She does an amazing job portraying the characters, bringing them to life, giving each their own voice and personality. You could hear how much heart she put into her work as she captures the characters emotions and projects them into her performance. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this great listen
#1 in the series
The story continues with the two sisters trying to put their lives back together after having to pick up the pieces and start over . There is small town drama , secrets , a thief , and a special wedding is booked at the inn .This book has a touch of sweet romance . It’s a cliff hanger and the reader needs to read book one to understand book 2 . A great story line to continue the series .
Can’t wait to read book 3
Loved the way these women are willing to step outside their comfort zone and take a chance to better themselves!
4 1/2 stars Fun, quick read. Great start to a new series. Small beach town , lovely run down mansion, stolen art and a bit of romance. Cannot wait to read more

A cotton-candy romance read………..stick sweet and melt in your mouth to nothing
Summer Beach: Seabreeze Inn is the first book that I have read by Jan Moran so I was not sure what to expect as you just never know when you pick up a “new to you” writer. This story left me with mixed feeling, some good and some not so good. I thought overall the book could have been much stronger as the underlying idea and some of the main points were pretty interesting. I think part of the issue I had was the length of the book for the story was just too much. It could have been edited and tightened up quite a bit. There were also a few key points that I just scratched my head about……………why Ivy was so mad for so long at Bennett. Plus the lack of sex made it somewhat of a real lite and clean romance read.
But I did like the the authors writing style and was able to laugh once I decided that I could not really take the story seriously.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
This is a great book! The main character, Ivy, has her entire life turned upside down. Her husband dies; she finds out that he spent all of the money they had; and then finds out that he purchased an old, run down beach home. She and her jilted sister decide to move to the beach house, fix it up and sell it. The snag is that the real estate agent tells her it could take years to actually sell the house after she fixes it. It is not a little beach cottage; it is a huge, full blown mansion type house and will take a lot of work. In the process of doing this, she finds out that her old high school crush is now the mayor of the beach town she has moved to.
The characters were engaging and the setting was amazing. I highly recommend this book.
A sweet romantic story that’s a pure joy to read plus it’s a quick and easy read. No spoilers here just be prepared that once you start this book you won’t want to put it down until you finish it.

Good story with some mystery, drama and angst to keep your interest. Well developed characters with potential for future books.
This book was a very delightful read with a well written storyline and characters that were written with such great detail and depth that I was totally glued to my kindle until the turn of the very last page!
An enjoyable read with believable characters and an interesting plot.
Seabreeze Inn – This is my first read by this author and I enjoyed the story. I thought Ivy was a bit too much with her constant treatment of Bennett; she is too old for such immature behavior.
The story was too good to put down and I really liked all the characters, even Ivy after she wised up. The family, the town and the friends were all a good match to the good storylines. There was a good mystery about the previous owner and some items, and a bit of intrigue about Ivy’s deceased husband. There are always rumors in a small town and Ivy heard them.
The story is complete but this is the first of a series and I am interested in the next book. I found this book on Booksprout. 4*
I really enjoyed this book. The first I’ve read by this author. I enjoyed it so much I’ve already ordered the following book, Seabreeze Summer
