I’m a fan of ice cream. I’m also a of the One Scoop or Two Series from Wild Rose Press and have been working my way through the series. This title made me go, huh? While I may not be a fan of the flavor, I am a fan of the book. A beach-themed cozy mystery with a feisty heroine, handsome and sweet hero, and of course, Aphrodite a regal poodle.
I love that Rosella was strong and determined. She made decisions for her life and is doing everything she can to make them happen. A creative soul on the beach of the Pacific Ocean, she invents flavors from unusual ingredients.
Detective Mark Pruitt is kind, smart, handsome, and I love that he’s a bit awkward. He’s dedicated to doing right by the community.
Together the pair are drawn into a murder of one of the boardwalk patrons. A cast of food truck characters is interesting and gives you many who done it thoughts. With flashes of humor and heartfelt moments, you’ll be glad you picked this one up. 5 Scoops for Ms. Howard.
A sweet romance wrapped up in a mystery, the heroine, Rosella, owns a food truck where she concocts delectable ice cream flavors for the summer beach crowd. All the vendors jockey for the best space each morning on the boardwalk, but Rosella has an admirer, a senior citizen with a lovable standard poodle named Aphrodite.
A murder upsets the equilibrium of this idyllic beachfront community, and handsome Detective Mark Pruitt enters the picture to investigate. Ms. Howard’s well drawn characters come to life, including the secondary characters, as the mystery and blooming romance collide. A fun read!
Well, Aphrodite is the actual crime solver, in my opinion. Even if she is a dog who can’t testify! This was a really fun and quick read. The characters are likable. I’m hoping that we get to dive a little deeper into who they are in the next books. And I really want to try some of those ice cream flavors!

SEA SALT LAVENDER FOR APHRODITE is the eighth book in the multi-author One Scoop or Two series. Each is a – sweet as ice cream – romance that stands alone and includes an ice cream store…. Or in this case an ice cream truck.
Rosella creates unique ice cream flavors – there is no simple vanilla bean or Neapolitan available at her food truck. Her number one fan is Mick E. Rodente (Mickey Mouse LOL) and his beautiful standard poodle, Aphrodite, is her best customer. Now, if you know me at all, having a dog in the story is sure to win me over faster than chocolate on a double dip cone. Aphrodite is not just beautiful. She is smart and integral to solving the mystery.
I love that this story is a cozy mystery, but don’t forget this is a sweet romance. Detective Mark Pruitt is sent to investigate, and their relationship develops just as sweet as the ice cream that Rosella creates despite the unsavory murder that has occurred.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted ARC via Booksprout, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

Rosella has a talent for creating exciting ice cream flavors which she sells out of her food truck at the beach. She gives sample ice cream to Aphrodite, Mick’s dog, after Mick saves her a prime parking spot. However, she later finds his body and cannot imagine who would want him dead. Mark, the detective in charge of the case, must find whoever did this quickly because he has a feeling the killer may target Rosella next. I enjoyed reading this cozy mystery.

There’s murder afoot in the beach town of Olympus Bay and detective Mark Pruitt is challenged to find a killer after ice cream truck owner Rosella Rivers discovers one of her best customers dead. Suspects range from the intriguing woman who tempts Pruitt with intriguing tastes and flavors to an eclectic mix of rival food truck owners. And let’s not forget the frequent fliers drawn to the sun and sand of this small beachside paradise.
Author Julie Howard is known for creating quirky characters and does not disappoint her fans. This time around she’s included the enchanting Aphrodite, a standard poodle, willing taste tester for new ice cream flavors, and devoted to searching out the person who murdered her best friend and partner in life.
Do not miss Sea-Salt Lavender for Aphrodite, It’s a great addition to any summer read.
