I’ve always loved Rebecca’s books. If you can, pick this one up now – it’s free for a limited time!
I read this book because let’s face it, I idolize Rebecca Hamilton and want to be her when I grow up.
That being said, for a book being a little outside my usual reading… it’s got pirates, and I don’t mess with them, this story was amazing.
I’m on vacation and devoured it.
I hope everyone who reads it feels the same way I do.
I love this book. This book is full of adventure. I could not put it down. An unexpected partnership changes everything. Slayer Kelia Starling has grown up being told that Sea Shadows are vicious creatures that need to be killed. No exceptions. But when her father is murdered and her handler insists it’s suicide, she starts to question whether The Society really has her best interests at heart. Kelia must join forces with Drew Knight, an infamous Sea Shadow. After her affiliation with Drew Knight is discovered, Kelia is forced to choose between what she’s been taught…or a dark, terrifying truth that puts her life at risk. I cannot wait to read book 2.
I was surprised and delighted by this fresh take on vampires blended with pirate lore. Other than being a tad repetitive at times, it was a thoroughly enjoyable read. Kelia, a slayer in the Society where she was raised, loses her father, her one remaining relative. In her grief, she discovers that what they tell her about his death is lies, along with everything else she’s been taught. In order to find the truth, she must align herself with the enemy, who may have their own agenda for helping her.
Kelia is a sea slayer and as always been told sea shadows all need to be killed. When her father is murder she as her work cut and and her maybe her perception changed in order to find out the truth she as to work with free knight the world’s most beautiful sea shadow creature. What will she do go with what she’s always been told and always feared or follow the truth to solve her father’s murder. I loved this book it was really well written the characters are great story was brilliant definitely recommend this one ladies
I know there are a lot of book about vampires, but this serie is original. Vampires can only live in ocean and can go to land in the night or they turned to ashes. Wow… Great idea.
In this first book, we met Kelia, a Slayer who always thought the Sea Shadows (the pirates vampires) are like a beast. She learned they can think, have feelings, just want rip human throats and feed. But then, she needs to associate the most feared of Sea Shadow – Drew knight to disciver the true about her father’s death. She will discover anything she learned is true and will suffer a lot in the process.
I recommend to you read this book if you like a good paranormal action book.

This book was definitely different from what I normally read, but it was good. It took me a couple of chapters to get into it, and I think it was simply the writing style of the author. I enjoyed reading the book, which had a good storylines enjoyable characters.
This is book one of The Vampire Pirate Saga series and the main character is trainee Slayer Kelia, who is only a few months away from having to make the important decision that will rule the rest of her life, leave the Slayer program to get married, or become a Slayer for life on her eighteenth birthday. She has no interest in any of the other recruits and unlike her roommate Jennifer, who has her eyes set on getting married to her beloved, she plans to become the best Slayer she can. Her father, Gregory Starling, is high up in The Society, but she has a handler called Ashton Rycroft who was never a Slayer, but adorns his office with items as if from a battle he has won. She was sent on a mission to capture an Infant, a newly made Sea Shadow, with two other Slayers, who were only useful at handling a boat and didn’t come to her aid. She was nowhere near qualified enough for such a solo mission, with many senior Slayers better trained than her, but her mission was not quite what it seemed. She managed to capture the Infant, who was actually not a blood thirsty monster as she had been trained to expect. When she returned her father was there to greet her, with her Handler a short distance away.
She was told to meet him off the Society premises to talk, but he never showed and when she returned, she was told he had killed himself. Something she found extremely difficult to believe! Her father’s body will now be cremated at sea, rather than a proper funeral, seen as a disgrace to the Society. When she starts looking for answers, she soon finds out that she has been lied to for her whole life, from the age of five within the Society and from seven as her training began for her role as a Slayer. She wants to know what her father found out that led to his death and more about the lies she has been told about Sea Shadows and more. This leads her to the very infamous Drew Knight, the most wanted Sea Shadow for over a hundred years. He offers to tell her some of the truth she is seeking, in return for a favour at a later date. Drew already had a plan in action, with the Infant, Christopher Beckett, to save Beckett’s fiancée, who is being held at the Society fortress somewhere, and the red ruby ring he gave her will point to her survival.
Now Kelia is in danger from another who follows her about and ultimately betrays her to her Handler. He knows who she has been meeting and her Handler questions her about her feelings for Drew and why she has gone against all her training and upbringing in the Slayer Society. He gives her an excessive punishment and everybody is talking about what she is supposed to have done with the monster Sea Shadow, whilst looking at her in disgust or ignoring her. Her life as she knew it has ended and she may well be killed as the ultimate punishment and deterrent to others. But she will not give up until she knows exactly why her father was killed and what the truth behind the Society and its many secrets is. The truth may put her in the most danger, but she is stubborn enough to want it all, no matter the danger to herself. A very twisted story of a supposedly heroic Society who help keep people safe from the dangers of the monstrous Sea Shadows, but may well turn out to be more like monsters then the monsters they supposedly hunt! A mix of vampire pirates who can only exist at sea, during the day at least and are bloodthirsty, out of control animals, with no human traits left supposedly, and those who are trained from childhood to kill them, with far too many secrets hiding the real truth of the Sea Shadows very existence! I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
Sea of Darkness is a wonderful twist on a vampire genre book! From page one I couldn’t put it down! Great story with a twist!
She will find the truth or die trying.
Kelia has been trained to kill Sea Shadows. Creatures that look like people but have to live on the water and drink human blood to survive. But when her father supposedly committed suicide, she knows she’s being lied to and is determined to find out the truth. His hidden journal claims that people have been lied to and that the Sea Shadows have been deliberately created. But when the strongest of them all was able to break away, now they need more to catch the pirate Drew and his crew. So Kelia has to team up with him to find out the truth. Doing so puts her in extreme danger and could mean her death. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
I liked this story. It begins with me thinking its going to be a typical vampire hunting story when it does a 180 and becomes something different. Its the story of Kelia who learns that the society she belongs to is lying to her, and off she goes on an adventure full of action, danger, lies, and the search for the truth. Thought it was a cool idea to combine the vampire and the pirate genre together. Juts a good story that was interesting and entertaining.
I couldn’t wait to read this story. I’m game for any book that gives the typical vampire tale a different and fresh spin and this book did just that. I loved the concept of a vampire sea pirate. I absolutely loved this book. It was full of mystery, intrigue, adventure, betrayal, witchcraft and a tangible chemistry between Kelia, a human and a very alluring sea faring vampire.

This book has a different twist to it, the vampires which are called Sea Shadows stay on the sea and only come to shore when it is night. The Society has Slayers who kill the Shadows. The author has built a world around the Society and Sea Shadows. There is a mystery here and the Society is not all it appears to be. Kelia has a mystery to solve, her father is killed and she must find out why. The person helping her to discover the truth is a Shadow. This was a great read with a twist. There are many secrets and not is all as it appears to be. I would recommend this book.

We follow Kelia trying to find her father’s murderer and thus solve it. There also happens to be alot of questions because of shenanigans of the Society and their nonsense. Drew and Kelia work together but things get risky that is for sure. This one will get you caught up with your fingers turning the pages.
I would especially like to thank Evershade Publishing, Booksprout and the authors for allowing me to read this book.
Kelia’s only hope of solving her father’s murder is to work with a supernatural enemy.
She is one of the best killers. Her goal is to protect society from vicious sea shadows.
Except that her father is murdered and everyone thinks it’s a suicide, so she’s going to wonder about this famous society. To solve this murder, she will ally herself with Drew Knight, a famous Sea Shadow who could very well show her who her real enemy is.
A book read in one go, so much so that I hooked on the story, so captivating, addictive, full of suspense and twists and turns with endearing characters. Can’t wait to read the book two.
I was leery at first about a book that has vampire pirates, even though I read vampirates as a kid. It was an amazing read. The detail and world building was fantastic and I love the relationships that developed between the characters along with the character growth that happened in just the first book. It really drew me into the story and has made me eager to buy the rest of the series to finish the story.

I have been trying to widen my circle of books and is delighted to come across this series. It has an amazing storyline that keeps me constantly wondering.
What would it be like to wake up one day and find “truths” which I hold so close and dear to be nothing but lies. Would I have the courage that Kelia processed?
I can’t wait to get onto the next book in the series.

Our heroine is a slayer, our hero a vampire. That may sound familiar but the kicker is that vampires are pirates that cannot come on land.
This is an urban fantasy novel with a somewhat unique twist involving a pirate and seafaring theme. I really enjoyed the unique feel that this provided and the world building that went with it. The plot was also good, with several unexpected twists and turns which kept things interesting. The characters were, unfortunately, the weakness from my perspective. In spite of this interesting world, the characters seemed too normal, if you will, like something you read in any number of other vampire books. They needed a bit more of a unique spark to truly fit in this interesting world.
Regardless, the story was enjoyable and did keep my attention throughout. As this was the first book in the series, I am hopeful that the characters will get fleshed out on the next book. I am looking forward to giving it a try to find out.

I was blown away by the first book that I had to have all the others. I can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t fall in love with Drew Knight. Damn, what a guy. It’s a perfect, original vampire story. At the very end, I was on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. Anyone who is looking for a new twist on vampires has to get this book and binge read them all.
She has always been loyal to them but when her father is murdered it all changes. They say it was suicide but she does not believe that. She will have to work with the enemy to find out. In the process she may the truth she was not looking for. See what she will.find out
