Sea Dragon’s Hunger Excerpt:
Nic had been restless all day. He’d blamed it on the coming storm, but it was growing worse. His mother had been a powerful Seer. Nic couldn’t see the future like his mom, but he’d learned to trust his premonitions.
Trouble was on the way.
He dove into the water. The ocean was a seething mass. A wave crashed over Nic’s head. Even in his man form, he could hold his breath much longer than a human.
But his animal wanted out.
Nic dove deep and let the shift take him. Energy rippled over his skin. For a few seconds, his body was a cluster of incandescent lights—blue, purple, green—before shaping itself into the powerful body of his sea dragon.
Nic arced through the waves, reveling in the slide of salt water over his skin. He had rudimentary wings and could fly in short spurts, but the ocean was his element.
A school of common dolphins scattered at his approach, chittering anxiously to each other. In this form, Nic measured twenty-five feet from nose to tail, and he had the teeth and claws to match.
Nic ignored them. He might be a half-savage dragon, but he drew the line at eating something as intelligent as him.
In the sky above, lightning flashed, followed by a crash of thunder. Rain slashed down, pelting his dark-gold hide.
He dove beneath the waves, stopping a couple hundred feet down. Above him, the storm still raged, but this deep, the sound was muted, the black waters calm.
He glided through the midnight liquid, the premonition riding him like an itch that couldn’t be scratched, teasing at a part of him buried so deep, he could go weeks without thinking about it.
Trouble.
Cassidy O’Byrne.
Pain sliced through him, fresh as the day he’d left Ireland—and her. He gritted his teeth and bore it.
Then his spine prickled. His dragon was racing for the surface before his mind caught up.
Cassidy was here—and she was in danger.

Sea Dragon’s Hunger is the 4.5th book in The Fada Shapeshifter series. We meet Cassidy, a dolphin shifter mum who is doing her best to protect her sea dragon daughter from ‘the bad men’. Fae are after her daughter because if they use a dragon’s heart, their power grows times five. Cassidy will do anything to protect her daughter, including going to the father for help. Nic left Cassidy five years ago as he didn’t want her to have the isolated life he knew he would have, and didn’t know about Rianna. Unfortunately, Cassidy has ended up being hunted, despite Nic’s best intentions. These two need to figure out what’s going on between them now, before they can move forward – if they live long enough, that is.
This is a well written and fast paced book, full of sweet and steamy moments. Rianna is precious, and the men in Nic’s den are instantly smitten with her. Cassidy is a sassy character, strong in her own right, and definitely not just some doormat ruled by her hormones. With a flowing style, the scenes change smoothly from one to the next, and there were no editing or grammatical errors that disrupted my reading flow. Although this book is number 4.5, it is the first in this series I have read, and I had no difficulty in staying with the story. Of course, it has left me wanting to read the others, just because 😉 Most definitely recommended by me.

Archaeolibrarian – I Dig Good Books!
Very interesting and entertaining. It kept me glued to my chair, turning page after page (or flipping pages since I was reading on my kindle). I enjoyed Ms. Rivard’s take on shifters (or Fada). I loved Cassidy and Nico, Princess (I’m not a princess) Rianna, and the rest of the fada in Nico’s clan. This story really had it all: interesting and engaging characters, a great plot, a bit of suspense/tension, friendship, smexy-times and an HEA.
I truly enjoyed this book and , although it was the first book I’ve read by this author, it will definitely not be my last.
Cassidy was a fantastic character who was a dolphin shifter. She was on the run from some bad fae that wanted her daughter who was a sea dragon shifter. To keep her daughter safe she ran to her daughter’s father. Nic was a sea dragon shifter which are somewhat rare and tend to be feared by other shifters. I found him likeable and his character was well developed. Although a lone he had his own clan of shifters who lived with him. All of them were likeable characters who played a part in the story. Rianna is the daughter who was also well developed and a great character. Lots of action and lots of sexy time with a HEA. I loved this story so much I went and looked for more from this author. I am voluntarily reviewing an arc I received. Loved it!!
This was an interesting read, rare water dragons feared by everyone and hunted by the fae, Nic may be used to this threat, there’s not much that can hurt an adult water dragon but when he finds out he has fathered a child and she’s being hunted there’s nothing he won’t do to protect her.
An enjoyable imaginative read with interesting characters.
Our heroine is on the run with her daughter, a mother’s protective nature outweighing her hurt. The Fada shifters stories are the rarer kind and every bit as exciting as their more mainstream cousins. This is definitely a second chance story & a very good one at that
