From the outside, Scottish actress Ella McGregor has the perfect life. A list of Hollywood blockbusters under her belt, wealth, a fancy house, flash cars, a great family, and a brilliant boyfriend, Donovan… until she learns he has betrayed her. In fact, Ella’s story could be the script of her next Hollywood blockbuster: Conned – a tale of trusting the wrong person. Connor Andrews, Donovan’s … Donovan’s best friend, has loved Ella since the day they first met five years ago. Too bad for him he didn’t get there first, but with Donovan out of the picture, Connor wonders if he may finally have a shot with the woman of his dreams.
With so much history between them, and heartbroken Ella’s world ripped apart, can he make her see he’s just what she needs? Will Ella let Connor help her to stand up and fight, or will she run and hide from the one person who she trusts the most?

Once again this author delivers a story that we could all relate to; whilst we are not part of the Hollywood fraternity we could easily be hoodwinked by the one person we trust with our lives and left to deal with the fallout!
Ella McGregor is that girl who has been left with nothing after being dealt a low blow by her beau of five years. Told from a first person POV the book tells of Ella putting her life back together and giving her her time for something selfless all whilst moving on.
What I did find was Ella seemed to fall in to the arms of someone else too quickly and easily, a matter of weeks. Going from wanting closure and an explanation from Donovan to not wanting a bar of him once he did decide to get in touch. I think the character lacked anger, the kind you feel when you are backed into a corner and need to come out fighting. The time frame didn’t work for me, she needed more time as a single person to come to terms with the deceit before going headfirst into a new relationship. All that aside, the story is a heartfelt and beautiful romance.
Ending in a cliffhanger as Ella strives towards her HEA!
Wow!! What a great book!! This is the first book I have read by this author but it will not be the last.
Ella has been duped! How could Donovan leave her with nothing? Ella is left to deal with the aftermath.
Connor is coming to see his friend who he has had feelings for but never spoke to her about them. When he finds Ella and learns what has been going on will he finally have his shot?
This book is a cliff hanger…and I can’t wait to find out what happens next!!
Scripted Reality by Karen Frances is a romance about A-list actors and will be a duet. I was excited to dive in, as these are one of my favorite types of stories to read. Ella McGregor thought she had it all. As a top actress and a loving boyfriend, what more could she ask for? Then she is betrayed by the man she loves and is left heartbroken.
Connor Andrews has always loved Ella, but his best friend got her first. But is now his chance to show her what they could have together? However, now Ella is feeling devastated and unsure. But Connor has always been her friend and there for her and now is no different. But can Ella open her heart again?
I really enjoyed reading Scripted Reality by Karen Frances and that ending! I could not wait to read the ending and luckily, I did not have to wait long! Book two is now available!
4.5 stars. Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog.
Scripted Reality was a very good read.
I’ve really enjoyed to follow Ella’s journey from her bad relationship with her agent, through her shame for having been too trusting and naive, until her rediscovered self-worth.
Fortunately the beautiful actress Ella Mc McGregor has a lot of good friends and a very protective father and brother that will do anything to shelter, support and help her.
Karen Frances writing is easy to read, the engaging pace and the perfect flow kept my attention from the first chapter until the dreadful cliffhanger.
I’m so glad I could have started the sequel as soon as I’ve finished this one because I was so curious to know Ella’s story ending.
I just binge read this book in about 2 hours. A masterful work of human emotion, bringing the reader skillfully into the lives of the characters! With a cliff hangar ending that has me waiting figuring out how to neglect my family more so I can read the next book!
Ella MacGregor is a Scottish actress on the top of her game when life takes a decidedly down turn. Her boyfriend/agent betrays her and she has to figure out how to regain her security, trust, and joy for life. Luckily, she has a loving family and friends she can rely on to help her right life’s wrongs. Ella has to reclaim her life and find herself. Reading her struggle and accomplishments was a joy. “There is always something good, even in a bad situation. It’s just about looking in the right places.”
I loved all the characters. Ella’s struggles were real and honest and her emotions were so true and heartbreaking. Connor Andrews loved Ella from the sidelines, as her boyfriend’s best friend. So when Donovan betrays Ella, Connor is ready to step up to show not only his love, but how to treat a lady. Ella’s father makes me want to call my dad; like any good father, he just wants to feed his girl and make sure she’s happy. The village of friends and family surrounding Ella and Connor are so fantastic!
Poor Connor loving Ella for over five years, always being near and not being the man in her life. But he waits her out, and is there for her when she needs him most. He does his best to show her that he can treat her right and the chemistry is there, without being forced or trite. They build their relationship on friendship, “we have that so we can build on it.”
Karen Frances weaves an arresting tale of glittering movie stars who deal with the same emotions and issues as the rest of us. The way she has weaves details and humanity into Ella have me enamored of her diligence to keep her humble, struggling, proud and strong. I love how the idea of betrayal, in this case by an agent to a star actress, is one that is many things: pulled from headlines, a mostly out of reach idea, and yet, at its base, a concept we all have had to deal with in some way. The book deals with the betrayal in a gripping “Law & Order” sort of way, keeping you rooting for the heroine and waiting with bated breath to see how the criminal will reveal himself.
I’m up in arms about the cliffhangar. I don’t like them! I like a good happy ending. I am sad that Ella and Connor don’t get one in this book. I have high hopes that all will wrap up nicely in Scripted Love. But no matter what, I can honestly say I was engrossed in this book and can’t wait to read more by the author.

I could not wait to get my hands on this book and it didn’t disappoint. I was hooked from the very beginning. I am totally in love with Ella and Conner. Ella is still trying to recoup from Donavon’s betrayal and him still trying to hurt her. All Connor wants to do is to protect her but when his past comes to haunt him maybe Ella can save him instead. Twists and turns that I didn’t expect to keep me on the edge of my seat. I want to be just like Ella when I grow up and Conner well her stole my heart from the very beginning. This is a must read! Ella is a huge successful actress, living the dream with her Agent boyfriend… until she comes home to find he’s really nothing but a rat bag. He’s left and taken everything, leaving her penniless and devastated. So how do you begin to pick up the pieces, when all you want is to crawl into that safe bolthole and avoid the word and pain.
I enjoyed this book, Ella was down to earth and her family was a huge support. When best friend and fellow actor Connor steps in to support her it obvious this man has hidden deep feelings. I love their progress from friends to lovers, and how he give her the space and support all in the right quantities, never making her feel she wasn’t capable. I did find the story a little hard to get into at first but it really was worth persevering, although now and again i did feel it lacked a little umph and felt that it plodded along !! but maybe that’s just me. Ella is a strong lady and i loved that she used her experience of the nightmare that became her life to do something good that would benefit those less fortunate than herself. Connor was protective, hot and sexy, but i didn’t feel that we got to know him as much as we wanted. This story really is more about Ella and i pretty much liked that !!! Now i’m looking forward to the next one and hoping that Stinky Donovan (Her Ex) will get his comeuppance !!!!
This is the first book by Karen I have read . I am happy to say I have found another I will be reading many books by.
The author wrote these characters so good. Ella seemed so real, with what she goes through the author gives the real life vibes that you would see with any one going through what she is going through. The fears were real and intense.
What can I say about Connor. I loved him. He is an amazing character. He comes back to Scotland, when Ella is expecting the man who did her wrong. She was not expecting his best friend. He is clueless what to what has been going on. He has been hiding his feelings from Ella for years, but its only her that didn’t see them clear as day.
Will Ella give Connor a fair change to be there for her and let him into her heart or wills he push him away because he is the best friend of the man he took everything from her?
I am so glad to have an ARC of book 2 in this series on my kindle so I can find out what happens next. This book does leave with you hanging so if your not a fan of cliffhangers wait until Scripted Love book 2 releases later this month!
Ella thinks she has it all the perfect life with the love of her life or is he. When then the truth starts to unravel of who she’s really been with for the last five years Ella is devastated. Trying to hide from the truth until Donavon her douche bag ex best friend Connor turns up instead of him st the airport. Connor has always loved her and when he hears the truth of his apparent best friend, all he wants to do is protect her. This I should a beautifully written story that hits a lot of things cheating, stealing being nasty, homelessness which effect a lot of people. I loved this story and can’t wait for more of it. A definitely must read that I couldn’t put down and binge read. Karen writes amazing stories with subjects that may affect you in your lifetime or someone close to you.
