From USA Today bestselling author Kristen Luciani comes the steamy and suspenseful story of two people caught in a web of lust, lies, and loyalty. Death? Yeah, She’s Worth That Risk. ShayeI betrayed my family tonight. I lost my virginity tonight. I was ready to give up this whole life tonight. I loved him, and he treated me like I was no better than the dirt on the bottom of his shoe. One thought … tonight. I loved him, and he treated me like I was no better than the dirt on the bottom of his shoe. One thought makes me smile through the hot tears streaming down my face.
I could have him killed.
Nico
Just plain sex. I tried to convince myself that’s all it was. Except there was nothing plain about what we did that night. I lied to myself about how I feel, and I lied to her when I told her I wanted her to leave. Now I’m dodging calls from her crazy brother, who, if he found out I’d so much as seen her naked, would wrap his hands around my throat and squeeze until my eyeballs popped out of the sockets.
And yeah, I’ve seen my best friend do just that for a hell of a lot less.
Lust versus loyalty, which will you choose?

I enjoyed this mafia romance. It was a little mafia light for me, but compared to other books she has written, Kristen Luciani take a little darker turn than normal, making this a gritty forbidden romance. But aren’t all mob romances forbidden?! This one has the characters trying to choose between obligation and the undeniable chemistry Shay and Nico share and a romance that will be frowned upon. Shay and Nico are a little at odds with the way they are thinking about each other because of Nico’s sense of obligation to Shay’s brother and his best friend. So Nico denies his true feelings and treats Shay just like any other, or so it seems. This book was filled with hot and steamy passages as well as page turning suspense making this a thoroughly enjoyable book and solidifying Kristen Luciani as a one-click Author for me!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. I enjoyed this quick read. It is mob boss story with a HEA ending.
Nico’s grandpa has just passed away bringing in all the old faces to pay respect to the “boss”. Even she comes. He knows he messed up sending her away but he was just trying to protect her.
Shaye has loved Nico her whole life. So she is devastated when she comes back to find not one but two girls drapped on his arm. She just needs to put him in her past only how can she when he keeps calling.
This book is a standalone but does leave you wondering what happens next and wanting more. I hope Sloane and Max get their book!
I enjoyed Shaye and Nico’s story. It was a fairly quick read to me. Not only that, but Kristen left it open for a possible second book. Don’t worry, it’s not a cliffhanger but it have a door that can be opened for more Nico.
Ok for me this book starts a little bit slow, like I was worried I wasn’t going to get into it wasn’t grabbing me like her normal stories do. But then then it started to pick up and when it grabs you it grabs you by the throat and doesn’t let go. Theirs a forbidden love thang going on in this book but Nico also keeps pushing Shaye away to protect her. But her family is in the business as well, plus when you’re the boss people always watching you. With their family at odds and everyone else wanting him gone as well Nico tries to do right by her. But their chemistry to violate and they come together and all comes crashing down around them. And Shaye is taken by Nico’s most hated enemies. Can the families put aside their differences to save Shaye? This book is clouded in mystery and intense. And even at the end it leaves you guessing what’s in store for us for the next book. I recommend this book.
Nobody screws with the Salesis family. Nico and Shaye grew up together and she is the one thing he wants that he knows he really shouldn’t have. When he decides the time is right for him to claim her, it sets off series of events that prove his place in the “family” and in her heart. This was an easy, enjoyable read with intrigue and just the right amount of sexiness. ” He loves me. I love him. Why can’t everything else be that simple?”
SCREWING THE MOB is a departure from this author’s “normal” style of writing. It’s a little bit darker, a little stronger in the setting and family than her other stories. OMG it is just as hot and romantic and wonderful.
The background information sets this book up perfectly. It is written in such a way that it didn’t even feel like it was “background” as it was an integral part of the story. The age old battle that involves family of choice vs. family of origin has a new twist in this book.
Relationships and romance and suspense all make this a must read. From beginning to end I enjoyed this story. It never felt like words were written to fill a “word count” and the story flows effortlessly.
Ms. Luciani remains a “one-click” author for me.
Love love Nico
OmL. You all are gonna just lust over Nico! This book was sooooo freaking good!!!! I gotta tell ya I’m not a huge mob fan but I was hooked from the start with Shaye and Nico.
Shaye has been in love with Nico since they were kids but when they finally kissed he sent her away told her to go to Miami for college and went back to his whorish ways. Now Shaye is back at his grampa Vito’s funeral and as much as Nico wants to go to her he doesn’t want anything to happen to her.
Shaye has been hating Nico for sending her away even though her brother Max would kill him for touching her but she has loved him for so long. Now that grampa Vito has died things are going to get dangerous but that doesn’t stop Shaye from going to Nico when he calls but his call could get her injured or worse. What do you do when your families are at odds and they are in the mob? You are very careful.
Nico, The New Underboss Of The Salesi Crime Family, Has A Target On His Back. He Tried To Push Shaye Away From Him, To Keep Her Out Of Danger, But Now He Wants Her Back!
This is the first book in the Mob Lust series, a dark Italian mafia romance series. The complete series consists of five books plus a bonus novella. This is Nico and Shaye’s story. Although it continues in book two, it could be read as a stand-alone.
The Salesi crime family in northern New Jersey runs the biggest gambling and prostitution rings in the U.S. They choose not to participate in the drug ring, notably. Grandpa Vito, who headed the family, has just died on Christmas night. The heart attack was unexpected. He was loved by many and respected by all. He earned that respect through blood years ago, but preferred to keep the peace and protect his people over terrorizing them. His son Joe is next in line, but for years Grandpa Vito had been men grooming his grandson Nico to take over.
Nico Salesi, twenty-four, is the new underboss of the Salesi family and is now in the spotlight. He is a businessman, raking in a huge amount of money for the family. His nightclub, Calaccino, is the hottest spot in downtown Manhattan. It caters to celebrities, supplying private parties with sex and drugs. But respect requires blood, and Nico has never killed. With Grandpa Vito’s death, members of the family struggle for power, and Nico needs to show his strength if he wants to stay alive.
Nico grew up tight with his best friend Max OrianI and Max’s little sister Shaye. Their father, Tony OrianI, had been best friends Nico’s father Joe until a falling out several years ago. Grandpa Vito had kept the peace between the families, but Tony Oriani had lost his place in the business when he went behind Grandpa Vito’s back to attempt a partnership selling drugs with the Cappodamo family of New York. The Orianis are good at muscling, but they tend to lack the strategic intelligence needed to succeed in the business. Hence their ambition often lands them in trouble. With Grandpa Vito’s death, the Orianis no longer have protection, and with Joe Salesi heading the family, they face uncertainty. Max’s place within the family, however, is secured by his relationship with Nico, who employs him.
Shaye Oriani, eighteen, has always been in love with Nico Salesi. She grew up with her brother’s best friend, and Nico has always been part of her life. Just when she anticipated that they might finally admit to their feelings, though, Nico broke her heart, telling her they can never be together. Heartbroken, she finally gave into her family’s pressure to go to college in Miami. They wanted her out of New Jersey and away from danger. She tried to get past her crush on Nico during her first semester away, but nobody measured up to him. Home again for Christmas break, though, she couldn’t avoid seeing Nico at Grandpa Vito’s funeral.
With the pressure of keeping his family together on his shoulders, and the loss of his beloved grandfather weighing on him, Nico’s carefully crafted emotionless façade begins to silently crumble when Shaye ignores him at the funeral. He secretly loved her for years, but he always knew it could never work. Their families were at odds. But moreover, her association with him would put her in danger, and he would never allow that, not to mention the fact that Max would kill him. But those reasons no longer seem as important as they once did. He wants his own happiness – the happiness he has denied himself – and having Shaye would finally give his life meaning.
When Nico and Shaye finally admit to their feelings, the world seems set against their happiness. They battle their own misgivings as well as their families, all the while as enemies begin to circle. Nico’s character is calm and calculating, but not necessarily built to be a crime boss. He likes the business and the power, but the rest is a responsibility he inherited by birth, not by choice. Shaye has been kept in the dark about her family’s involvement in crime, but she is intelligent enough to have pieced bits and pieces together and gotten the general picture. It doesn’t stop her from falling for Nico, though. She grew up in a crime family just as he did, and doesn’t see it as the obstacle he does. But her family stands to lose much thanks to Nico and his father, and her allegiance is tested. Nico and Shaye’s story continues in book two of the series.
Nico and Shaye’s story is steeped in steam and mafia politics. It is plot-driven and nicely written, though there are a few conversations that drag and become difficult to follow. The plot is somewhat complex. The various players jockey for position and nobody can be fully trusted, keeping you on your toes. The characters are nicely developed with good backstories. Shaye’s character isn’t as well-developed, but the focus is more on the mafia players and their backgrounds. The story is written in first person. The POV alternates between Nico and Shaye. I rate this book 4.5 stars.
5 Cranky Stars
Man, I LOVED this book and I’m already diving into book 2!!! YASSSS for the multi-page sex scenes!!!! YASSS for the thrills and violence!!! YASSS for the complicated and tortured protagonists!!!
So, as you can already infer from the title, this is a story about mobsters….and screwing. (See what I did there????) Tony Soprano meets Christian Gray. And there is plenty of mobbing…and plenty of
The story is told from 2 points of view: Nico and Shaye. I am seeing this being done in a lot of contemporary literature and I have to say that I really do like this device. It allows you to get inside each character’s head. Nico is the Prince of a respected Mob family. The story begins with the death of the Don, his Grandfather
Immediately you are thrust into the brooding mind that is Nico….and immediately the tension, sexual and otherwise between Nico and Shaye is apparent. There is HISTORY….and it ain’t all good. Throw in an overbearing big brother and feuding families and there is enough tension all around!
This story is well-written and exciting. Their story is only amplified by the SIDE stories happening around the main characters (ones that I HOPE the author will explore in later books i.e. Max and Sloane). The lovemaking is detailed, interesting and realistic. I’ve read plenty of books where it seems that sex is ALL the characters do as if they never leave their house! But there is plenty of action in this storyline and I’m looking forward to Book 2!
Screwing the Mob by Kristen Luciani is a great read. This is the first book in the The Mob Lust series. This is the story of Shaye and Nico. After his Grandpa’s death Nico becomes the new underboss of the mob. He is also Shaye’s brother’s best friend. Shaye and Nico grew up together and were once in love with each other. They find they are still attracted to one another when Shaye comes to the funeral. Will Shaye let their past come between them? Will the fact that Nico’s best friend is Shaye’s brother come between? Will Shaye going back to school come between them? Will they ger their HEA? This book is full of action, drama, angst, tension, lust, hatred and forbidden love. This is the first book I have read by Kristen Luciani and I con’t wait to read the next book. I definitely recommend this book.
I really liked this brother’s best friend, mafia romance. Shaye and Nico are complex and very likable. Their romance and history is to say the very least complicated. With lots of drama, steamy, passion, angst, emotional turmoil and the pressure of family loyalty. Things do start slowly but heat up nicely as the story progresses. I am posting a completely honest and totally voluntary review.
This is a new author to me, and my word, I cannot wait to read more of her work in the future. Shaye loves her brother’s best friend, but Nico knows that any relationship is forbidden and that there are too many obstacles in their path, so therefore, he pushes her away to keep her safe. This is a well written story which is filled with drama, action, suspense, tension, passion, emotion, and is a steamy story. I was totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I cannot wait to read more in this amazing series!
Nico is in the mob and his best friend is his right hand man. Nico has been in love with Shaye but he knows he can’t act on it because her brother will kill him not to mention it’s his best friend.
Shayes been in love with Nico for as long as she can remember. After an amazing kiss she leaves and goes to Florida for school because Nico and her can never be.
When she comes home for a funeral her feelings for Nico have never went away but he treats her very bad.
This is a great mob story with hot sex, danger and twists. I enjoyed this story and hope for more about this mob family.
I’ve not read anything by this author before so I will definitely be reading more from her in the future.
I absolutely loved the two main characters Shaye and Nico. They grew up together and have been in love with each other for years. The chemistry between them is hot. They both know they shouldn’t, that it is forbidden but they are struggling to resist.
I found this to be a well told mafia romance. Although I found it slow at the start I really enjoyed it and I’m looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.
This book is so much more than your typical mob romance. I adored Shay and Nico and was hoping that they would find a way to be together. Nico wants to protect Shay from his mob life, a life that she has grown up in, so he pushes her away. This book is full of suspense and kept me on the edge of my seat .
I love a good mafia story and this one was better than I could have expected. It really starts off with a BANG!! I loved Shaye and Nico’s story from the very start. This was a very action packed book full of angst and so much more.
Ok for me this book starts a little bit slow, like I was worried I wasn’t going to get into it wasn’t grabbing me like her normal stories do. Shaye Oriani is trying to keep her wits about her and maintain some dignity though both seem to fail her when it comes to her brother’s best friend. Having known him her whole life, she knows what it’s like to be in the family. Left reeling by his actions just before she left for college, she can’t seem to get him out of her head or her heart.
Nico Salesi has earned his position within his family and with the recent passing of his beloved grandfather, everything seems to be spiraling quickly out of control. The one good thing to happen is the return of the girl he knows he should stay away from. If he could just get his heart on board with the plan.
This book is fast-spaced and very suspenseful. I loved the action.
The Hero was easily able to redeem himself. The heroine was very mature for her age and very accepting of all of the goings on around her.
I have read other books by this author and am happy to have read this book, too. I will definitely recommend this to a friend.
This was one that caters to the darker side of things. It also knows how to lurk to the inside and take hold of your emotions that will have you screaming at times. Shaye and Nico have you kicking and screaming with the way they do each other and the way things are done. When the drama is added to the mix of these two you will be turning the pages so fast the smoke will rise. Not often do I like to read mafia romance but this author tempted me to inhale it.
