The original Powertools crew is back in a brand new series!
Joe has it all–a gorgeous wife, two amazing children, four best friends who are also sometimes lovers, and a booming construction business. He never expected to face some sort of midlife crisis. But somehow, he finds himself longing for even more.
How can he tell his family and the rest of the crew that he wishes they could be closer to … wishes they could be closer to his Uncle Tom and the rest of the Hot Rods and Hot Rides gangs?
An emergency crew meeting turns into a steamy attempt to show Joe exactly what he’d be missing out on if he left the crew and their polyamourous lifestyle behind. Will it work? Will he listen to his heart or parts of him below the belt? Either way, he’s screwed.
This is a standalone book set in the Powertools universe. All your favorite Hot Rods and Hot Rides characters will be making appearances as well. Some come make new book boyfriends or hang out with old ones.

Screwed – This is a freebie series starter, but it’s a continuation from other series and doesn’t stand alone well. I like that it reunites you with characters and gives you a window into their lives as mature adults not just 20 somethings falling in love. Happy Reading!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Wow, I did not expect that kind of story, but I calmly claim that’s one of the best books the author has written. The writing is just as amazing – you can literally grab hold of the inner turmoil Joe’s confronted with. Namely doing the right thing that’s best for him but for his family as well. Conquering the struggle of getting to a solution all bets are off in finding the perfect way. A very Midlife-Crisis story that some might be able to relate to.
I will admit to being at a slight disadvantage, as I haven’t read all the Powertools, Hot Rods, nor Hot Rides series books. I’m a huge fan with the way that Jayne Rylon had built such loving family units and seeing all the couples, throuples, and others interact and come together to help those in need. I cannot wait to go back and read their stories from the beginning, to get a better idea and feel for all the characters.
Please note that I did receive an ARC of this book, and the opinions expressed in this review are my own.
4 Stars
The Crew is back and as sexy as ever.
Jayne Rylon gives us readers a new and emotional Powertools story. Joe is torn between wanting to be closer to his blood relatives while not wanting to leave behind the family he has made. My heart hurt for Joe in so many ways. Finding it hard to talk about and doesn’t wanting to hurt anyone in the process. His love Morgan reminds him what family is and sharing what’s on his mind with her and the crew will help. Joe does just that, confides in his best friends, his crew, his family.
Joe learns quickly that the family he builds through friendship and love is a bond stronger than he realizes. With his trusted foreman in lead, the crew reminds Joe just what it is to be part of the family they built together. Screwed is a sexy and emotional visit with the Powertools crew. I loved all emotions throughout the story. Wanting something, changing your life and going for it are all big steps but with the support of the crew at their back, there is nothing at can’t be accomplished.
I so enjoyed the emotional and super hot visit with Joe, Morgan and the crew. Screwed is a fantastic quickie afternoon read.
I enjoyed revisiting Joe and Morgan from the original crew. I liked that this was about a past couple but this is more of their story and wasn’t a rewrite. I loved that this story kept my interest from start to finish and I felt like this story had everything you could want in a romance.
I received an ARC and am leaving my honest and voluntary review.
The original Powertools crew are back! This is a fast read. I gobbled it up in day. Things are still burning hot between them. You’ll need to fan yourself while reading this. Joe’s heart is being pulled in different directions. You can feel the conflicting feelings rolling off him. This book is a little emotional. I’m left feeling a little sad, but hopeful. I’m already anticipating the next book because I can’t wait to see what’s in store for this crew. I have a feeling it’s going to be one heck of a ride!
This story is a quick and emotional read, jam packed with heat, with chemistry, with love, with one heck of an emotional rollercoaster ride of a journey, and so much more.
Recommend
I received an author’s copy and have left an honest review
It is very good revisiting the characters from Powertools once again. I would recommend, though not necessary
reading Morgan’s Surprise. The author has blended a compelling story line with emotion, angst and heat. I look forward to the next book seeing what is going to happen with Joe, Morgan and all the Powertools family.
It was so good to reconnect with the Powertools gang. Joe is at a crossroads, he loves his current life living within reach of his family, however, his blood family is calling out to him, he is missing out on so much with them.
The gang sets him to rights and lets him know, as only the gang can, how much they love him and Morgan and will always be a part of them.
Jayne did an amazing job with the characters, their friendship, their acceptance of each other and most of all the love they all feel. Get ready for some hot, hot interactions between them!
You always remember your first. Your first boyfriend. Your first kiss. Your first polyamourous book! Mine was “Kate’s Crew”. From there I was hooked! That story spawned an entire series, two spin-offs and many hours of entertainment. Now it’s come full-circle. While they may be older, they are no less sexy! Love it!!!
Although this is a stand alone novel, I recommend you pick up the original Powertools Series to read so you get the full impact of the intensity of this book! The crew has been together over a decade, as best friends, coworkers and lovers. Ms. Rylon has the ability to write a large group ménage with such emotion and passion that you feel as though you can get inside each character’s head and heart. This first book in this brand new series will have the reader experiencing a full range of feelings that in the end will give you an ending (no cliffhanger) that will continue to be build upon with future books.
Another powertools story oh yeah. I have loved these stories and this one is no exception. It is wonderful to see the guys and women of the crew again, but also sad to see that Joe is torn between his need to be closer to his uncle and cousin or being with the crew. In true powertools crew fashion the guys get hot and steamy in showing Joe just what he means to them.
How can my heart break and still be full of happiness? Joe and Morgan have a lot to figure out in this book, and while they are tentatively taking steps, it still doesn’t feel settled. What is settled is the original Power Tools crew is back! This felt like a homecoming, with all the sexiness and emotional ties we’ve come to expect. A little older, a little wiser, but still just as wild, they know how to connect and get things, um, done, in a spectacular group effort fashion. All together, as a crew, and as a special day for one of them, nothing is missing in our combinations. Beneath it all, the feelings they have for each other are clear, and your heartstrings are tugged and plucked as they figure out what comes next. Of course, we get a few glimpses of both the Hot Rods and Hot Rides, as they play an important part in the story as well. I loved connecting with the crew again, and even though they made me cry sometimes, being with them again was awesome!
Let me start out by saying that Jayne Rylon gets better with each book! Her stories are always jam packed with heat, with chemistry, with love, with one heck of an emotional rollercoaster ride of a journey, and so much more. In Screwed, we get to go back to the original Powertools Crew, and it was so amazing to spend time with them on the page! I adored seeing how they’re still the same amazing group of people that love and support one another, having aged like a fine wine. This story focused mainly on Joe and Morgan, but each and every member of the Powertools Crew was highlighted and honored, and the glimpses we got of the Hot Rods Crew made this story extra special.
Joe loves his wife, his children, his friends, and his family. And yet, he can’t help but feel like he’s being pulled in two different directions, and he has no clue which way is up. He needs Morgan to be his true north, and needs the love, support, and advice from his family and his friends. His cousin and uncle, and his chosen family, the friend and work crew that has meant everything to him forever.
Morgan can see the struggle her husband is undergoing and just wants to love him, to support him, to be there for him as much as he is for her.
Fret not, though there is a lot of emotion that will threaten to have you shed a tear or two, it is done in the most beautiful way, and the shmekshay times are as on point as ever, definitely steaming up the pages of my Kindle!
If you love Jayne’s work, the honesty, the honor, the friendship, the fire, the feistiness, but most importantly, the love, then you will adore Screwed, and I cannot wait for you to pick it up and enjoy it as much as I did! Be forewarned, a tall, cool glass of ice water is a recommended reading companion!
Screwed is the first book in the ‘Powertools: The Original Crew Returns series.
Joe is struggling with a decision: should he, Morgan, and their kids stay with his family of friends or take advantage of the opportunity to live closer to his Uncle Tom and cousin Eli. I could really feel Joe’s pain. He and Morgan have a good life and are surrounded by good people who help to make their lives complete. Joe feels really torn – should he leave his “found” family or move closer to the blood relatives that he misses so terribly? It’s not until he shares his struggle with Morgan that he comes to a short-term solution of sorts. His Powertools family has mixed emotions about the decision, but ultimately support Joe and Morgan.
The scenes between Joe and Morgan and the ones between the couple and the Powertools crew are sexy and emotional.
It was great spending time with the Powertools crew and the Hot Rods and Hot Rides crews. There is a great set-up for the subsequent books in this series.
Jayne Rylon did a great job with this quick, sexy read. I felt all the emotions that Joe was wrestling with, and I can’t wait to read the rest of the books in this series!
Shake It Up – Feeling caught between a rock and a hard place, Joe and Morgan make a tough decision. Like several of the Powertools’ stories, this one is unmistakably bittersweet. True to their friendships, there is also plenty of glorious adult time to squirm through. Poignant and joyous walk hand-in-hand throughout this book. I loved it, even if I did shed several tears. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
First i am so happy that there is a continuing series of the power tools group …. In this one Joe gets an offer and he is torn between leaving his original team to accept the offer…. Morgan is ok with whatever Joe decides and is willing to move ….. The group when they get together is as hot as ever I cant wait to see what happens next in the next book…
I always enjoy revisiting characters to see where they are and how they have grown.
Going back to The Original Powertools Crew was great. Watching as they grow as a family and in age, this book had the signature sexy times as well as some hard decisions.
I look forward to the next in the series!
I would like to note that this author’s series are best read in order. There is a lot of character development and world building as each story is told. Trust me- start at the beginning…

Screwed is the first book in the ‘Powertools: The Original Crew Returns’ series written by author Jayne Rylon. This story is an extension of the author’s Powertools, Hot Rods, and Hot Rides series, but it can be read as a standalone romance. Although, if you’re like me and enjoy knowing all of the backstories, I recommend reading the other books before reading Screwed. Just know that it’s just a suggestion.
Joe has been traveling to his Uncle Tom’s and cousin Eli’s a lot lately. As time has gone by, he’s felt more and more torn. Joe loves his family, which includes all of the Powertools gang. But he can’t let go of his desire to be closer to Uncle Tom and Eli. His wife, Morgan, has noticed the change in Joe, and she’s been thinking the worse. After confronting Joe, they talk everything out. Now, he just needs to confront his Powertool’s family and inform them of their decision.
The only problem is how to tell them, and what will they say?

This is the first book in the new Original Crew Returns world of Powertools. For me this was a visit with old friends. These characters have had minor appearances in other books from these worlds, but this is the first time to see them as the main characters again. This installment contained lots of hot sex and the characters are like old friends. The story kept me enticed the entire time. Loved it and can’t wait for the next installment.
