“Scraps of Paper is a well-constructed mystery with just the right mix of good guys and bad guys, with a sprinkling of oddballs and misfits thrown in. Kathryn Meyer Griffin does a nice job of allowing the friendship of the book’s two main characters to develop as the story progresses. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good who-done-it, set in a picturesque environment with … environment with believable characters. This is the first book in a series the author calls ‘The Spookie Town Mysteries’.” 5 Stars Reviewed by Michael McManus for Readers’ Favorite May 17, 2013 (Second in the series: ALL THINGS SLIP AWAY)
Snippet of NOVELSPOT Review for Scraps of Paper:
“The premise behind this story intrigued me. Old houses have their own history-bad and good. What would you do if, while you were renovating an old house, you found an intriguing mystery, even if it was years old? If you had a chance of solving that mystery, would you? Or would you leave it buried in the past? Would you want someone digging in your past, your tragedies? If someone you loved just disappeared, what would you do?
Kathryn Meyer Griffith’s Scraps of Paper is an engaging story of what happens when you go digging into the past and the possible consequences. It also has an underlying story about dealing with what life hands you and finding the strength to move on. Both Frank and Abby are strong characters they have had to deal with the loss of a loved one and to learn to deal with that loss. You find yourself drawn to them and to all the quirky people who live in the little town of Spookie. In the end you want to know what happened in the old house so many years earlier. I’ll be looking forward to more books about this quaint little town.”

Abigail Sutton’s beloved husband walks out one night, doesn’t return, and two years later is found dead, a victim of an earlier crime. It’s made her sympathetic to the missing and their families.
Starting her new life, Abigail moves to a small town and buys a fixer-upper house left empty when old Edna Summers died. Once it was also home to Edna’s younger sister, Emily, and her two children, Jenny and Christopher, who, people believe, drove away one night, thirty years ago, and just never came back.
But in renovating the house Abigail finds scraps of paper hidden behind baseboards and tucked beneath the porch that hint the three could have been victims of foul play.
Then she finds their graves hidden in the woods behind the house and with the help of the eccentric townspeople and ex-homicide detective, Frank Lester, she discovers the three were murdered. Then she and Frank try to uncover who killed them and why…but in the process awaken the ire of the murderer. *
**This book is the first of a series. The second and third books, All Things Slip Away and Ghosts Beneath Us, where Abigail and Frank’s sleuthing adventures continue, are also for sale on Amazon.

Unusual mystery – liked a lot
Easy reading with interesting character development. Accurate reflection of small town life. Kept my interest until the last page despite an anticipated outcome.
An excellent mystery set in a small village with whimsical lovable characters. The author is excellent at character development and plot movement. I could not put this mystery down. I recommend the book highly.
I love the cover for Scraps of Paper by Kathryn Meyer Griffith…and that tagline…how could I possibly resist? I feel a sense of foreboding. The book is free everywhere, so feel free to grab a copy.
After two stagnant years of her life, Abigail has found out that her husband, Joel, had been murdered. Misery put her on the road in search of a new life.
She was determined to become a new person.
To find time to live and love.
Spookie Town called to her.
The past and the present merge and the mystery grows.
I love the direction she goes to solve the mystery of Emily and her kids disappearances. She moves into the an empty house and begins to find Scraps of Paper. To find the answers to the mystery makes me think of a scavenger hunt.
Kathryn Meyer Griffith has a way with words and once I begin one of her books, it is hard to put it down. So true with Scraps of Paper. I felt Abigail’s pain and her need to find a way to go on after her husband’s death. When she moves into the empty house, the former tenants mystery becomes hers. She feels a need to find out happened to them because we all need answers…don’t we?

Just a who done it murder mystery. Easy reading. Good book to pass the evening if you like a mystery that isn’t complicated, gory or bloody.
I loved this book. So many suspects with motive and opportunity. A real workout for the brain switching suspects all the time.
A very good read. Kept me in suspense at who done it.
good story
Sometimes making the old new again is the best adventure. For Abigail that means a new start in an old home. Fresh coat of paint, a bit of cleaning and a mystery when she finds scraps of paper with a note in crayon. I enjoyed her journey, meeting the folks from her new town and how her discoveries led to trips with Frank or walks in the woods or even commissioned paintings. My favorite thing about this book is that Abigail did not run around accusing people of murder-there were many discussions with Frank every time a new clue was discovered and his background made the direction of their involvement make sense. I will definitely be reading the next in the series.
Light, fun read.
This book was different than the typical mysteries that I usually read. I really enjoyed it.

I thought this book was very good. I really couldn’t put it down. I finished it in 2 or three days.
I like first person mysteries. Hard to resist someone who drives into a town, likes it, buys a house full of mystery and finds the truth and love.
Enjoyed this book immensely – kept my interest – had trouble putting it down and picking it up again – would have liked to have had the time to read all at once – but kept coming back and looking forward to more books by auther.
