“It’s time to fall in love with Suzanne Enoch.” — Lisa Kleypas
Devilishly handsome Highlander Aden MacTaggert knows next to nothing about the ways of the ton, but he most certainly knows his way around gaming halls and womens’ hearts. Still, Aden is not sure how he’ll manage to find a Sassenach bride in time to save his family’s inheritance. When his almost sister-in-law Miranda comes to him for assistance, he proposes a partnership: She will help him navigate London society and he’ll teach her everything about wagering…and winning back her freedom. The beautiful, clever lass intrigues Aden–but is she playing her own game, or are the sparks between them real? He is accustomed to risking his pocket. But betting on Miranda’s love is a game he can’t afford to lose. . .

Miranda is smart and sassy and needs help. Aiden is a gambler and a reprobate and also needs help. They have nothing in common but they need each other. Too bad their feelings are getting in the way.
Fun book. I enjoyed Miranda and Aiden and thought they worked well together.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor.
I do so love to mix up my reading and what a great way to do it than with a adventure with a Highlander. It had been a few years since I had picked up one by this author with it seeming like a ole friend with a visit. Miranda and Aden must come together to help each other with the results being different than what they had counted on. With the bad guy in here wanting his way also things will get a bit filled with drama at times. Pretend can become real so can the difference seen? This was a much needed adventure with the excitement with what came at the end.
I really liked this book.
Why? Because Miranda, while in deep due to her brother’s gambling debts, she is out to save herself and solve the troubles due to said brother.
She’s smart and crafty.
Aden is a gambler and a player (no thanks). But they strike a deal.
A beneficial one, except for that pesky attraction to each other.
I adored Miranda.
Recommend.
Aden MacTaggert is a gem. He is loyal to his family and when he makes a promise, he keeps it. Not to mention he is good looking and wears a kilt. Miranda Harris is the sister of Matthew, who is marrying Eloise MacTaggert. She is out spoken, plays by the rules and is beautiful. She also does not like people who gamble. She has seen its destruction and wants no part of it. Aden and Miranda set off sparks. He wants her and she wants nothing to do with him. Miranda has been put into a bad situation and asks Aden to help her out. What she doesn’t realize is that the whole family is invested. You will laugh at some of the antics. In the end, there is a twist and I loved it!
Scot Under the Covers was a delightful read. This wickedly entertaining read had wonderful characters and a entertaining storyline that kept my attention until the end. Aden and Miranda were great characters with sizzling hot chemistry. I can’t wait to read what this talented author writes next.
4.5-5 Stars! This book was awesome!! I loved it! It’s got everything you could want in a historical romance with hot Scots!! There’s a villain(Captain Robert Vale), a damsel in distress(Miranda Harris), and a hero who doesn’t realize he’s a good guy(Aden MacTaggert)! I do wish Miranda’s brother had been more of a help since she was helping him out! I felt like he got off pretty easily after all that mess! I HIGHLY recommend this book! This is the 2nd book in the series and can be read as a standalone but I’d recommend you read the first book also! Great series so far!! I can’t wait for Col’s book next and I can’t wait to know who the heroine is going to be!!!! Suzanne Enoch is my favorite historical romance author!! She NEVER disappoints!!
*I received this book at no charge from the publisher and I voluntarily left a review.*

As soon as I saw this book was coming out I was intrigued, but I didn’t want to start in book two of the series. I had never read a Suzanne Enoch book before so I through caution to the wind, and downloaded book one. That was Wednesday night. Needless to say, I finished book one on Thursday night….holy cow I was so drawn in, I immediately open book two. Stayed up all night and finished it! WORTH IT!!!!
In book one, It’s getting Scot in Here, we were introduced to 3 hard headed, loyal, and loving (each in their own way) highlanders. Niall was the star of book one, but his brothers were not to be outshone. Book two, takes us through Aden, the middle brother’s journey to meet his mother Francesca’s requirement of he and his brothers to all marry English women before their sister gets married.
Aden is the most secretive of all the brothers. Naill is the peace keeper, Coll the hot headed leader, and then there is the middle child Aden. I didn’t quite know what to expect from him after his introduction in book one. He could have gone many ways, but I am darn glad that his path was an interesting one. Aden is the gambler, he has a cunning mind and can read people easily. That is until he meets Matthew (his sister Eloise’s betrothed) sister Miranda. You know what happens when you put gasoline on a fire….you get an explosion. That was Aden and Miranda. Aden was the gasoline and Miranda the fire….it just took putting them together to get that explosion. However, there is a dastardly man just waiting upend both Matthew and Miranda’s world. Oohhh he is an evil one, it’s rare that I truly hate a character but I truly hated Robert Vale. He was despicable, had no redeeming qualities and was just all around evil incarnate. I truly wished all kinds of bad stuff on him throughout the book.
The characters as you can see, drew me in, but it was the story that kept me up all night. I just couldn’t go to bed without knowing if everything would get resolved, and what the outcome would be. I am not going to spoil that for anyone, just know this. I loved the plot as much as loved the characters!
I am super stingy when it comes to five stars. I need to have two strong main characters, a good plot, a story that I can reasonably believe to be real, and some steam. This book had it all. All the characters are strong, the plot kept up all night, and the steam was there. Aden is one hot highlander. So, do I recommend…DUH, YES!!! Will I keep reading? Oh, I can’t wait to watch Coll fall when he meets his match (I kinda hope it’s Jane). What are you waiting for romance lovers? Pick up this series today and fall in love with a highlander!
I loved the strong hero Aden, a rough and tumble Scotsman who protects and saves the heroine Miranda. I loved the strong heroine Miranda who takes charge to save herself and family. I can’t wait to read Coll’s story next! I received an ARC from NetGalley for my honest review.

Aden has a bit of a problem. Instructed by his mother to marry an English lass or deal with loss of funding for their home in Scotland, he either needs to complete said directive, or figure a way out of it. The very intriguing Miranda provides a solution for both options. Aden isn’t sure which direction is most desirable, but he knows for sure he has little choice but to come to Miranda’s aid. At the very least they will soon be related by marriage and part of the same family. At the most, and he’s no where near that way of thinking yet, she’ll be the lass he marries. Unbeknownst to Aden, the ploy she has become involved in, however unwilling, is much worse than originally intuited. As the risk increases, so does their passion. But Aden hesitates to put a label on anything before lifting the burden of stress off Miranda’s shoulders. He wants her – has never been captivated or affected by anyone like her – but he wants her head clear when she decides whether to keep or discard him. And he fears the worst. With his tender heart on the line, and new emotions flooding to the surface, he wagers everything in an all-or-nothing move to save her from the clutches of the evil vulture. If it works, at least he’ll have a chance with her. If it backfires, he risks losing her forever with her fate sealed and her future controlled by someone who harbors only ill will. If anyone has a chance, it’s this wagering Highlander and the ferociously loyal family he has backing him up; by rights the same family that is soon to be hers in one form or another.
I’m in love! Deception, desire, and kilts! Oh my! I love Scottish HR and have some books I adore, but this series and Ms. Enoch have easily moved to the absolute best of them all! I laughed, got angry, was shocked, even cried! My family looked at me like I was losing my mind every time I cracked up. Pretty sure the whole time I was reading I usually had a s**t-eating grin on my face. And you know what? I don’t give a fig! Books that inspire that kind of emotion and joy from me are a treasure! My only singular complaint is that I had the first book in the series and didn’t realize it until after I had finished this one. Argh! I could have read in order. But no matter. I am sure it will be just as engaging even already knowing the outcome. I even moved it up on my list, so I will have it polished off in a couple of weeks at the most. And now that I am getting caught up and back to my regularly reading habits, I will be able to actually read these ARCs prior to release. How about that concept? Seriously though, I just read something I really didn’t care for, so much that I was wary of a new read from a new author. Not so any longer. Aden and the McTaggerts have rejuvenated me! *le sigh* I need to visit Scotland.
I absolutely loved the quick wit and cutting comments which slowly morphed into playful, sexy banter between Aden and Miranda. Opposites attract and these two were a fantastic example of exactly that. There’s nothing better than a damsel in distress, who in any other circumstance could hold her own, than a hunky, brooding Highlander in a kilt come to rescue and thoroughly seduce her. I enjoyed the fact that Miranda had loving, possibly unconventional parents, who allowed her to be herself with no forced expectation of marriage. She was free to do her own choosing despite her numerous seasons and determined to marry for love, if ever deciding to marry at all. And how she came about making that decision and acting on it was fantastic! Then there’s Aden – despite is flaws, which actually endeared him to me more, he was pretty much flawless. The perfect pepper to Miranda’s salt. I didn’t want the book to end. And dang those other McTaggert men. Sex on a stick, all of them. I am curious to know what the story is behind their mother, Francessca. There seems to be a bit more that occurred beyond her agreement with their father, creating quite a rift between her and her boys. She nearly explains it to Aden and then stops herself. I’m hoping to discover more in the next book because Coll is inevitably next for his own romance. Estrangement aside, I thoroughly enjoyed her character. She added quite a lot to the story and her quick assessment and keen sense when dealing with her boys – dealing with everyone really – was a thrill to read. I truthfully cannot come up with a single complaint to mention. Whether you enjoy Scottish HR, or have yet to experience it, this is a wonderful place to begin. Although, in hindsight, I might give the first book a read first so as not to create any spoilers. But even if beginning the series here, an electrifying experience within these pages is guaranteed! The series title says it all – and boy do I crave more of those Wild Wicked Highlanders!

Scot Under the Covers is the second book in The Wild Wicked Highlanders series. The second of three sexy Scottish brothers, Aden MacTaggert is a gambler and rake. If there is one thing Miranda Harris cannot stand it is a gambler. Her family has been burned more than once with gambling. When her brother lands in deep trouble and a forced marriage seems her imminent future, Miranda seeks out the sexy Scot for his expertise. Aden cannot resist the sass that is Miranda and goes to great length to try and rescue a lass in trouble. A spunky heroine, a sexy highlander, and a vile villain make for a fast paced, entertaining joy ride that will leave you swooning for the big Scottish hero. Another great read by Suzanne Enoch was has a knack for making a girl’s knees weak with a big Scottish stud. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.
I haven’t read a Suzanne Enoch story in a long time. The good news is that her writing is still top-notch! Scot under the Covers was charming, heart-warming and just plain fun. Take one clever Highlander and mix him with a conventional Sassenach with a secret desire to rebel and you have a terrific mix. Both families added a lot to the mix, plus one very slimy villain. This book was everything I love about historical romance. A must-read.
ARC provided through Netgalley.
Scot Under the Covers by Suzanne Enoch is book Two in the Wild Wicked Highlanders Series. This is the story of Aden MacTaggert and Miranda Harris. I have read the previous book which added to my enjoyment of this one but this can be a standalone book. Miranda’s younger brother Matthew ended up falling victim to Robert Vale who is a very experience gambler. Matthew lost to Vale a large sum of money that he has to pay back but Vale is willing to take Miranda in place of the money. Miranda is a quick problem solver but this one might be her hardest one to fix. But then she thinks to ask Aden for help learning to gamble and to beat Vale at his own game. Aden is a expert gambler who doesn’t want to make a living doing that but wants to help his own family by marrying a lady. So Aden agrees to help Miranda if she will help him with his problem of getting around the towns ways to find him someone. But the more time they spend together the more time they find it hard to resist their attraction.
Loved their story.
She abhors gambling. He’s good at it. She suffers because of it. He saves her with it. But Ms. Enoch’s story of Miranda and Aden isn’t so much about gambling but the journey of these two characters coming to know each other. This is another very enjoyable story in the Wild Wicked Highlanders series. I recommend it.
I was provided with an advanced readers copy of this book. This review is my own opinion and voluntarily given.
Scot Under the Covers by Suzanne Enoch
Wild Wicked Highlanders #2
Aden McTaggert is in England with his brothers to save their properties and people in Scotland. Why? Because there mother decreed they had to marry English women before the sister their mother returned to England with becomes a wife. They need the money so…they are in England. Their trip to England and the youngest brother’s finding his English bride was the story found in book. Book two is Aden’s and no doubt Coll will get his story in book three.
Aden is a man who likes to and is adept at gambling. He is nimble fingered and able to read people. He is a man’s man but also attractive to women…and…I found I really liked him. Wily, witty and wonderful is our man Aden.
So, when Miranda Harris, sister to Matthew who will marry the McTaggert sister, finds out her brother has wagered and lost a pile of money and she is to be the pawn that pays his bill…she is not thrilled…especially having met the man who is to be her husband. In fact, Miranda immediately asks Aden for advice – as he is a gambler…a gambler she was rude to the first time they met…and the second time they met, too.
After the two decide to become partners in getting her out of the tangle her brother has created they have the opportunity to spend time together, get to know one another and realize that their first impressions would not withstand proximity and the truth.
What I liked:
* Aden – definitely swoon-worthy
* Miranda – intelligent, strong and a worthy partner for Aden
* The decked out deer and repeated allusion to the cheese made from cats-milk
* The boot-wagering scene near the beginning of the book
* The way that the tangle created by Matthew was undone
What I did not like:
* Smarmy evil Captain Vale – I was not to like him and it was easy to do as I was meant to
* Matthew – think he got off WAY too easy
* The holding back of the story of why Francesca – the mother of the McTaggert progeny – left and why there is so much dislike for her
Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Was the book realistic? Not so much but it was fun
Would I read more in this series? Definitely
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC – This is my honest review.
4-5 Stars
Aden needs to marry an Englishwoman, this looks better when he meets Miranda. She needs help and he is more than happy to help.
Loved the storyline and characters.
I loved the story of Miranda and Aden! Watching them fall in love, how they both change their outlooks and defeat the villain! The ending was positively poetic justice! I do wish more had happened in regards to Vale and a few more questions were answered. Francesca needs a HEA of her own as well. I’m can’t wait to see what happens to Coll! Thank you for the advanced copy of the book, it was a pretty great read!
Scot Under the Covers is the first book I have read by author Suzanne Enoch. I can promise it won’t be my last. I was so fortunate to have won an ARC of this book in a giveaway. This one is a winner. It was a pure delight to read. It had wonderful lead characters and enchanting secondary characters, a sound plot, plenty of lively dialogue and humor, as well as a repulsive villain. I fell in love with Aden, a Scotsman that definitely tugged at my heart. Mia was the perfect foil for him. I will also not forget Rory, the dressed deer nor Brogan, the rescued dog that walked all the way from Scotland. I won’t list any more highlights as I encourage others to read this book. You’ll enjoy it. It is worthy of 5 stars. And BTW, Suzanne Enoch now goes on my favorite authors’ list.
Oh my heavens! Get ready to swoon for Aden!
Aden is everything a girl could want in a swoon-worthy, kilted Highlander with dirty mouth and a brilliant mind. When he meets Miranda, he quickly learns that she’s not like the other simpering girls with flouncing skirts and fainting spells. He is stunned by her instant dismissal of him because of his love of gambling, and realizes he just may have met his match.
In a delicious twist, Miranda quickly finds herself in a truly awful situation and realizes she now needs someone who knows a thing or two about gambling. But, does she crawl to Aden to beg for his help? Of course not. She marches right up to him, bests him at his own game, and wins a wager against him so that he’s now obligated to help her. And now Aden is truly smitten, and can’t do a thing to stop his heart from making plans for the future.
Thus the games begin, a daring and intricate dance between Aden and the villainous Vale. The carefully orchestrated steps to free Miranda from Vale’s trap unfold against the backdrop of Aden and Miranda getting to know each other, and this is the very best part of the book. Theirs is an intellectual romance, filled with a sly, wicked sense of humor and a brilliant sense of purpose that forges a strong partnership between them.
The HEA is deliciously satisfying, especially with Aden’s eldest brother Coll brandishing his sword. I loved the way Miranda realized how Aden had painted himself into a corner, and her insightful solution was perfectly executed. I loved every single bit of this story, and was completely hooked from the first page to the last. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Scot Under the Covers book 2 in the Wild Wicked Highlanders Series by Suzanne Enoch is the first book I have read by this author. Even though this is the second book in the series it can very well be read as a stand-alone. I did not read the first book and still was able to enjoy this book. Scot Under the Covers is a quick easy read, it is fast paced and enjoyable. The story is well written, the characters are well defined and believable. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.
It’s been awhile since a book pulled me so completely in all I wanted to do was bury myself under the covers and keep reading all night. Miranda and Aden’s love story did just that. Their at first bumpy journey did not begin love at first sight, my fellow Scottish romance book loving friends. I actually found that rather refreshing. You see, Miranda had multiple reasons to mistrust gamblers and Aden’s reputation seemed to precede him. She didn’t let his handsome face sway her. However, thankfully she was quite wrong about him.
Miranda’s assumptions riled and ruffled Aden’s ego feathers and had him trying to shrug off his immediate attraction to her. Her damsel in distress situation though brought them closer together, despite the uncertainty of how this cat and mouse game with an evil bad guy would finally play out. Aden proved he had plenty of game himself when it came to getting into the master mind and habits of a cold, calculating, obsessed would be suitor.
I stayed pretty mad at Matthew, Miranda’s brother, most of the time. He got off too easy and seemed to be lurking in the shadows/playing both sides. We are told repeatedly he felt bad and that was supposed to be enough. I couldn’t help but want to unleash Coll, the eldest brother who tends to speak with his fists, on him to make sure he got the message never to be so stupid again.
Speaking of which, here’s to hoping Coll, the future clan laird, gets his HEA story told sooner rather than later. A man of swift, immediate action and few words will need a strong, brave, bonny lass to show him what he’s been missing by dodging matrimony. I simply can’t wait to see what lovely lass gets matched up with him.
Title: Scot Under the Covers, Series: The Wild Wicked Highlanders (Book 2), Author: Suzanne Enoch, Pages: 320, stand-alone but part of a series, alpha protective good guy Scottish hero who is good at wagering/cards and with the ladies, sassy/damsel in distress English lass, some verra steamy scenes, virgin heroine, good supporting cast of characters, no love triangle, romance safe for me.
Book 1 – It’s Getting Scot in Here
