An island paradise held hostage. A band of dangerous killers unleashed. A sinister plot that could push the superpowers to the brink of war. The perfect formula for explosive suspense in John Gilstrap’s electrifying new Jonathan Grave thriller . . . For Jonathan Grave and Gail Bonneville, the Crystal Sands Resort is the perfect getaway—until gunshots shatter the night. Wealthy guests are yanked … guests are yanked out of their sleep, herded like animals, forced to submit to their captors’ demands. But Jonathan and Gail are no ordinary vacationers. The assassins who invade their bungalow receive a deadly surprise. And two determined, skilled operatives escape into the jungle.
Jonathan and Gail are not the only free agents on the island. Cut off from his usual tactical team, with a pair of unlikely allies he can’t fully trust, Grave’s only hope of reliable back-up is his partner Boxers, who’s hundreds of miles—and hours—away. It won’t be long before the invaders turn this tropical paradise into the powderkeg that will set off global chaos. Grave may be without weapons, but he’s never without resources. Bold action is the only solution. Like the scorpion, Grave must strike fast and hard . . .

Despite inaccuracies here and there (mainly in some details about boats and ships) it makes a fast and entertaining read for the beach or a rainy day confined to the house.
Action packed but quite a few characters with nicknames.
Excellent, excellent, excellent. Gilstrap is a master of the modern suspense and thriller genre. Another Jonathan Grave knockout.
I’ve read many books by John Gilstrap and he never lets you down. One of my favorite authors.
Fun twist to put Scorpion in peril!
I love this entire series. Great action and fun characters.
A real twist based on the other books in a great way
Another strike by Gilstrap
I usually read in short segments throughout the day but this suspenseful story kept me up late at night because I had to know what was happening next.
Gilstrap is in my top five best authors
I recommend this book if you like action books!
This is book 10 in the series and it’s the first I’ve read, but the author does a good job of getting the reader up to speed without rehashing previous story developments. Excellent military tactics and weapons writing, characters I cared about – made me want to start at the beginning!
Great read
The action begins on page one and never lets up. Outside of the foul language (although this book/series is not as vulgar as others in this genre), Scorpion Strike is a cover-to-cover 5-star action thriller.
I usually end up skipping through those parts of books that dole out excessive information or focus too much on secondary characters. Not so with this novel. I read every single word.
Great story. Great main character. Great series.
It’ll be sad when I’ve read all of the Jonathan Grave books and have to wait a whole year for a new one. But, alas, I just bought the next one and have at least one more before that day comes.
This author highly recommends Scorpion Strike.
The story took off with action-packed pace and never let up. Characters were easy to see and remember and very real. The plot did thicken about half way through and just got better. Storyline stayed on track and the ending left room for a sequel.
This book was a great action/thriller, taking place on a remote resort island turned upside down when a group of terrorists attack, taking the guests and staff hostage. Two guests are special service operatives, and go into high gear, escaping and plotting to re-take the island. The only issue I had was that this book is part of a series, and there are several characters and relationships already established. I found the narrative involving the regular cast tedious (perhaps because I did not already have familiarity), and wanted to get back to the narrative on the island. The plotting of the “off-island” forces could have been reduced considerably, and would have made the read more enjoyable. Otherwise, a good book.
Fast paced and interesting. If you liked the Die Hard movies, you’ll probably enjoy this book, since it is in the same vein. Plenty of people die, but the blood-and-gore are actually kept to a minimum. I will look for others by the author.
Awesome Awesome book
Digger Grave at his best! Another great book by Gilstrip
Very interesting story…not your usual run-of-the mill terrorist novel. I really liked it.
