Slater Knox is known around the league as the tough enforcer for the Buffalo Bedlam. His popular social media accounts and open relationship with the fans have made him one of the most beloved players in hockey. They’ve also earned him a spot in the All-Star game, and an invitation to be a bachelor at a charity auction. For all his living in the spotlight, he’s hiding a secret… He’s in … love with his best friend and keeping quiet grows harder each day.
Noah Alzado is the newest addition to the Bedlam, and has spent the last few months joined at the hip with his best friend Slater. Slater is everything Noah wants, but won’t let himself have. They are best friends, roommates, and teammates, that’s three complications too many. Plus, Noah guards his private life as fiercely as Slater shares his own. His best option is to keep his head down, help his team win, and not do anything stupid… like kissing Slater again.
Everything comes to a head during All-Star weekend, where the best in the league compete for ultimate bragging rights, and at the auction, where temptation is hot enough to melt the ice. The chemistry between Slater and Noah is scorching, but can they lower their defenses enough to make a play for love?

Slater Knox is an enforcer for the Buffalo Bedlam. He’s the king of social media. His life is an open book to his adoring fans. He’s been invited to a charity bachelor auction and he’s looking at it as a way to get donations for the LGBTQ community and maybe find someone to take his mind off Noah Alzado: his BFF, roommate, teammate and the guy he’s secretly in love with. Noah is the new guy on the team. He’s been Slater’s bestfriend for years and now they’re teammates and roommates. Noah is a very private guy and he’s avoids the media like the plague. He only answers questions about the game and that’s it. Oh and he’s also secretly in love with Slater.
So how can these two polar opposites find a middle ground? They both want such different things and yet they want each other.
At the charity auction Noah can’t let anyone else have Slater, so he out bids everyone else in grand fashion. They leave the auction and go to Slater’s room to talk; although, not much talking is done. The next day the grand gesture Noah displayed at the auction is all over social media. Slater takes it in stride but Noah starts to pull away. These two try to have a relationship but find that they aren’t happy and not making the other happy either. Maybe it’s best to stop before they can’t even be friends anymore.
Neither guy is handling being alone at all. Noah gets some good advice from his teammates and book club friends that he takes to heart (literally). Noah has to decide if he wants to live a stifled life or does he want to change to keep what’s most important to him. Slater has to decide if living every minute of his life online is more important than Noah. Can these two actually give enough to make a relationship work and still be true to themselves?
This is a well written book without any noticeable errors. It read smoothly and was able to keep my attention through one sitting. Noah and Slater have good chemistry and the supporting characters are all well placed in the story. I would have liked a little more heat and maybe more bedroom time, opposed to tension filled pages but I do think this is worth the read.
I really enjoyed this sexy, M/M hocky romance! This opposites attract story kept me turning the pages.
Slater and Noah are best friends, teammates, and roommates. Slater is outgoing, loves putting everything on social media. Noah is very private and shies away from anything public.
When feelings grow stronger and chemistry gets hotter, one thing leads to another, a sexy kiss happens…then things get complicated.
When neither of them are willing to compromise, their relationship struggles. They both frustrated me, but in a good way. I was rooting for them so hard. The love they had for each other was obvious, but they just needed to do something about it.
I adored Slater and Noah. Their friendship was the sweetest, their bond strong, their passion hot. Their teammates were equally awesome. I loved that these big, hockey-playing hunks get together once a month for book club. Doesn’t that scream sexiness??
I’m so glad I squeezed this story in. It’s part of the Hockey Allies Bachelor Bid series, which is five books by five different authors. I Would definitely love to check out the other books.
This was a new-to-me author, I look forward to reading more from her!
Slater and Noah are friends, teammates and share an apartment. They both have strong feelings for each other but neither are sure they should say anything to the other. Slater is very outgoing and very present in social media. Noah is very private and cringes when asked to do anything that may publicly bring attention to himself.
These characters were wonderful to meet. I rooted for them, cringed when things went wrong, cheered when they went right, fanned myself when things went REALLY right and was sad when things spiraled so horribly. But the boys figured things out.
These men had to figure out what was important in their lives. A little give and take and Noah had to get out of his own way.
I loved this story a great deal. Wonderful characters and support characters as well. As in all the previous books in this series, we are given a fantastic story.
5/5 Comic books
Slater and Noah are best friends, teammates, and also roommates. Their day to day life is pretty much done together; they have a routine, they know each others likes and dislikes. What they have is a relationship without the romantic aspect. So much so, that when a moment changes things, with Slater wanting more and Noah denying that request, Noah can’t lose what he and Slater had. Now, Slater is going to be in that bachelor auction and it kills Noah that there may be someone else to take his place. Is his playing it safe going to cost him Slater in the long run? Should he man up and take the risk?
Slater and Noah’s story was a good one; giving us some nice naughty bits, really good drama, a cast of supporting characters that make you wonder if they have books. This reels you in and keeps you hooked as you watch friends turn into lovers and has you hoping that they can stand the tests that get thrown at them. I give this 4 stars.
