Sometimes scoring off the ice leads to the greatest rewards.I’ve had only one goal in life since I first strapped on a pair of skates—make America’s pro hockey league.I left Denmark. I made it to the top. Now, I’m determined to be the best. No distractions. I eat, sleep, and breathe hockey. Until my birthday when my teammates convince me to live a little. But living a little takes on a whole new … living a little takes on a whole new meaning when less than a year later I’m confronted with a crying baby on my doorstep, drooling on a note that declares he’s mine.
Suddenly, I’m a single dad in way over my head.
There is no playbook for situations like this.
Luckily, I have Paisley.
My gorgeous neighbor, my long-time crush, and now—my savior.
She’s there any time I need her.
Helping. Guiding. Gazing at me with those green eyes that make me feel capable of this after all.
With her at my side, I’m quickly learning there’s more to life than winning a hockey game.

Scoring Off the Ice is book 2 in the Ice Kings series. This book brings us Mikah, a sweet young hockey player. Surprise! He finds himself being a Dad to baby Angelo. Paisley is Mikah’s neighbor that she has been crushing on. As baby Angelo brings them together Scoring Off the Ice is a sweet surprise baby story that everyone is sure to enjoy!
First of all, even though the ARC I received had many typos, continuity errors, awkward paragraph structure, and two instances of the wrong character name being used (no way was Micah the one being pushed in the stroller), this did not influence my enjoyment of the story overall.
And what a fun story it was! In Chapter 3 we’re treated to an embarrassing situation that does not involve humiliation for the woman. Let me repeat: Paisley was not humiliated. While I still suffered from second-hand embarrassment, I was so happy that it wasn’t the woman being put in an awkward situation. Hallelujah! I loved this example of the blush being on the other face, as it were.
And Paisley is such a great character. She’s smart and determined, kind and supportive. Although she does lose some of her focus as she helps Micah with his baby, it’s nowhere as bad as giving up her dreams for someone else’s. In every new relationship it takes a while to establish boundaries, and eventually – not until a newborn – once a routine is established things get much easier.
Micah is adorably out of his element. I appreciated his backstory, allowing him to keep much of his innocence, while at the same time giving him certain … shall we say “skills”. It was refreshing to have a male character not be afraid of his feelings and attraction to Paisley. He knows that it’s an unusual situation, but he never shies from letting her know that he likes having her around, and not just because of the baby.
Some of the story was a bit predictable, particularly with regarding to the baby’s mother. And I can’t truly believe that with the evidence they had that the court would have favoured her to begin with. But I suppose if you consider the fact that Micah’s sports lawyer was going to represent him, then it makes sense. (Here is part of what I had a problem with regarding the ARC copy.)
But the author has a way of imbuing characters with a lot of heart, and situations with deep emotions. Witty banter and steamy scenes also contribute to a solid story, and enjoyable read. Looking forward to the next book in the series already!
Down to earth and delicious! With book two in her Ice Kings hockey series, Stacey Lynn delights her readers with another dip into the life of the North Carolina Ice Kings franchise. The hockey action was a little light in this book, but the support of the team and the heart of the situation was spot on.
Micah’s predicament endears him to us right away. He’s passionate about his career and hockey is life to him, but when he discovers his one night of debauchery has made him a Dad, he is quick to step up and own it.
Paisley shines as soon as she steps into the pages. She’s a hard-working student on the cusp of achieving the degree she’s been striving for, but doesn’t hesitate to step in and help a wayward soul with a baby he knows nothing about.
I recommend this book to anyone who likes the brotherhood of a sports romance mixed with a whole lot of heart and lots of sexy times. There were a few places I would have liked to have seen developed a bit more, but overall I really enjoyed Micah and Paisley’s story!
4.5/5 Stars

I was so delighted with this book! This is a fun romance with so many feels.
I loved Paisley and Mikah so much. They are both such realistic and compelling characters. I just couldn’t get enough of them. I loved how well I connected to their characters. Both Paisley and Mikah have such great character growth in the story. I also really loved the cast of side characters and I can’t wait to read more about them in other books.
I adored the romance in this story. Paisley and Mikah are an amazing couple and their chemistry was undeniable. There was an obvious attraction between the two of them but I loved how their relationship grew from spending time together as they cared for Angelo. The tender moments when they were with Angelo warmed my heart. While not quite instalove, the romance begins after a short amount of time. The way that Paisley and Mikah get to know each other by spending time together really offsets the fact that they hadn’t known each other for long before jumping into a relationship.
I was very impressed with the author’s writing style. I meshed with it immediately. The narration is smooth and told beautifully.
I enjoyed the plot of the story and how everything unfolded. The premise for the story really caught my attention from the start. I was glued to the pages of this story.
Overall, this is a light-hearted story that is full of emotion. This story put a smile on my face from the first page. It has the perfect amount of drama, heat, and heartfelt moments to really pack a punch. I can’t wait for the next book in this series!
Stacey Lynn is a new author to me and am immediately hooked in to the Ice Kings series. Scoring Of The Ice is a well written, feel good love story with a little drama thrown in the mix. It was sweet, emotional and one that I thoroughly enjoyed.
I loved Mikah and Paisley. The pair stole my heart upon first meeting and I loved how adorable they were together. The chemistry sizzled between them and I especially enjoyed how Stacey Lynn packed so much into this entertaining story. There was plenty of heat, humour and drama which only added to my enjoyment and I found myself very much help invested in their story. I loved the dynamic between the other characters in this book which enhanced the story and there are hints of what may be coming in the upcoming books.
This is an entertaining read that captivated me from the first page. I loved the storyline, I loved all the characters and I’m excited to read more from this series.
What a sweet story. Mikah was just too cute man!
Mikah’s life has always been all about hockey. His father drilled him since a young age. Giving him everything except the love and approval that he wanted. Now his a player for the Ice Kings and his life seems like it can’t get any more perfect. Until it is totally turned upside down by one mistake on his birthday. Now he needs to change everything. But its not so bad, it got him to finally talk to his sexy neighbour.
Paisley is studying to finish her degree in education. She has no time for anything except that and maybe perving on her neighbour. Until she finally gets the chance to speak to him and inadvertently becomes a part of his life. Now things are complicated, its not just her and Mikah, who is a famous hockey player and she’s just a small town girl, but they have Angelo to think about too.
This was a cute story. I loved Mikah, he was sweet, sexy and totally alpha in his naieve way. But he was too cute with little Angelo and when he realized he was attracted to Paisley, well lets just say it will melt your heart. I am excited to read the next book in this series
5 Star Review Scoring Off The Ice (Ice Kings #2) by Stacey Lynn
Stacey Lynn is a relatively new author to me. I loved the dynamic between Ice Kings, Mikah and Paisley. Mikah is laser focused on one thing and one thing only and that is hockey and achieving the goals that he has mapped out for himself. However, all it takes is one lapse, in this case, celebrating his birthday to have it all come crashing down around him.
Suddenly finding yourself a father and having no idea how or what to do with said baby certainly created some intense and at times heartfelt and awkward situations for Mikah. He is lucky that his neighbour Paisley is willing to help him out.
As he stumbles through becoming a father, with Paisley’s help, he learns that there is more to life than hockey. It was gratifying and heart warming to watch the relationship develop between Mikah and Paisley. Oh and don’t get me started on how my heart just about melted with Mikah and his baby’s interactions; totally swoon worthy.
The chemistry sizzled between them and Ms. Lynn packed a lot into this entertaining story. There was heat, humour and drama which only added to my enjoyment as you cannot help but become invested in their story.
Mikah is a 23 year old professional hockey player that was drafted into the NHL from Holland. His entire life has been planned out for him since birth by his overbearing, not quite so loving father. Mikah has created a new family with his teammates and their significant others and dreams of having the same type of relationship with a special woman.
Paisley is 22 and living in her uncles apartment while attending graduate school to become a teacher. She doesn’t really have time for anything except school and work. All that changes when she hears a baby crying in the hallway.
Scoring off the ice, by Stacey Lynn, is book #2 in the Ice King’s series. This is a well written, feel good love story with a little drama thrown in the mix. It can be read as a stand alone, but this is part of a series and has a lot of secondary characters that you may have gotten some background on in the first book. I will definitely be backtracking and starting with book 1. Very good read!
If you love a doorstep baby romance mixed with a big, sweet, hot hockey hero, then you are going to LOVE Scoring Off The Ice just as much as I did!
Mikah Lutzgo has to be the sweetest hockey players I’ve ever read. At twenty-three he’s dedicated his life to playing hockey, never dated, and only been with one woman when he lost his virginity. Well, you know that saying you hear in health class “it only takes one time” Mikah is that statistic. Mikah now has a son and has no idea what he’s doing.
Paisley lives across the hall from Mikah and hasn’t even said hello since she moved in, but when she hears crying coming from the hallway and she finds a baby carrier outside of his door, they finally meet. As a graduate student Paisley didn’t see her life exactly playing out like it has, playing house with a hot hockey player and his brand new son, but she also can’t say that she is complaining.
For the first time in both Mikah and Paisley’s lives they find their way navigating new waters adapting everything they knew all around a precious little boy. Paisley is pulled to the new father and his son and can’t seem to help herself in helping, especially when Mikah expresses his attraction to her and she knows she can’t help her attraction to him. Mikah adores his son, something he never thought about with his focus completely on hockey, he is also insanely attracted to Paisley. He can see having a family and finally understands what other members of his team have.
Mikah is sweet and honest and his inexperience with women is so endearing. His willingness to be a good father and do everything right for his son will melt your heart into a pile of goo and then add in his intensity in the bedroom and you will be a complete goner. Mikah is one of my favorite sports players ever!
Great Read!!!!!
OMG! Mikah and Paisley are too adorable for words! I adored them, together, apart with Angelo, I will take them anyway I can get them lol….
I loved how they got together with that little cutie petutie, Angelo! What a great story! This was the story to get me out my Covid19 Fog, it has been so difficult to let go, but Mikah and Paisley gave me the push I have been needing.
This series is quickly becoming one of favorites from Stacey Lynn, I cannot wait to see what or who is next. I am ready!
