Tennyson Clark is getting a life. First step: quitting her job as assistant to Dominic Anderson, star quarterback for the Washington Warriors, her best friend…and the man she’s been secretly in love with for years. But since the gorgeous, if overprotective playboy has only ever seen her as his BFF, she’s finally ready to relinquish her tattered fantasy and move on. Enter steps two and three: … new job and new man.
Football is Dominic’s life, and with his contract soon up for renewal, all his focus needs to be on the game. But Tennyson–dependable, logical Tennyson–is making that next to impossible with her mysterious new job and her sudden interest in online dating. He doesn’t do relationships. But the thought of another man touching her sexier-than-hell curves has him suddenly wanting more from his best friend.
Indulging in hot, dirty, what’s-my-name sex with no strings and lots of benefits is simple, uncomplicated…until it’s not.

4.5 STARS!!!!
Scoring off the Field was such a great friends to lovers sports romance read. This is the first book I’ve read from this author and I enjoyed it a lot. I actually look forward to reading the first book in the WAGS series. The characters were enjoyable; both the side and main characters. I absolutely loved Tennyson and Dom. Tennyson was a woman in need and Dom was exactly what she wanted. The chemistry between them was off the charts. I felt every emotion between the two while reading this story and absolutely loved it. The moment Dom showed Tennyson the interview he did, I absolutely fell in love with him more. He put his heart out there and all I was thinking was “about darn time” I highly recommend this book to readers looking for a great friends to lovers romance read that will have you hooked from beginning to end. I definitely look forward to no only reading the other books in this series but all of this authors book. This is a standalone read.
This friends to lovers story is an absolute winner! Dom and Tennyson are great characters and you can just feel how much they care about each other.
Tennyson has been in love with Dom most of her life but he’s always kept her squarely in the friend zone. Dom is a no relationship guy and Tenny knows she needs more though so if it can’t be with Dom then she needs to find someone else. Finally Tenny has decided it’s time for her to move on and find a life of her own. This throws Dom’s world off it’s axis and he fears losing Tenny forever. How much is he willing to risk to keep Tenny in his life?
Highly recommended read.
5 Star Review Scoring Off The Field (WAGS #2) by Naima Simone
Naima Simone is a relatively new author to me and I have to ask myself why that is. This was a relatively quick read but one that ticked all the boxes for me. This is a friends to lovers story which reeled me in from the first chapter.
Although this is a stand alone, I feel you may get more enjoyment if you were to read the first book in the series prior to reading this one as it will give you an insight into Dom and Tenny’s back story and friendship.
I was intrigued by Tennyson Clark and Dominic Anderson when they were first introduced in the previous book and was looking forward to their story. I was in no way disappointed with Naima Simone writing a story that suited these two perfectly.
Tenny has been in love with Dom for years and working for him has become extremely difficult, therefore she is determined to quit and find another job. Not only is he her boss but he is her best friend; Dom having taken care of her for years.
Dom doesn’t really know how he feels about Tenny. All he knows is that the thought of her dating another man is unacceptable.
It is clear to those around them that Dom and Tenny are meant for each other but Dom doesn’t do relationships and Tenny is tired of waiting for him to see what he is missing out on.
When they do finally come together it is explosive and powerful and yet Dom still cannot see the wood for the trees. When Tenny continues to apply for jobs back in their home town, Dom decides a little sabotage is in order.
I really loved Tenny, what a strong and determined woman she is. It is at times an emotional roller coaster filled with angst that had me heart pounding at times. Dom had his head buried on the sand way to much but overall I did like him. I felt for both Dom and Tenny as they struggled to reach their happily ever after.
I look forward to more in the series.
Oh the dreaded friend zone. That is where Tennyson finds herself with her bff & employer Dominic. Tennyson & Dominic have been friends since they were young kids and placed in the same foster home. They became family to each other, the one constant the other could depend on. But then Tennyson’s feeling started to change and she started to fall in love with Dom. After a drunken night years ago Tennyson expressed her feeling to Dom and that is when he relegated her to the friend zone. Tennyson finally had enough of watching Dom date and sleep with all different models and actresses that she decides she needs to quit working for him and move out on her own. When she gets a job offer that would take her away from Dom he realizes that he needs Tennyson in his life because that is why he is the man he is today. It isn’t football or his deceased parents that he is trying to be perfect for but Tennyson.
After a few close encounters but not close enough for Tennyson her and Dom finally sleep together. And holy cow they were hot! It was everything that Tennyson wanted. Dom knew it was different with Tennyson but he wasn’t at the point yet where he knew what or why.
I loved these two as a couple. Tennyson stood on her own and didn’t crumble even when the easiest thing would have been to do what she always did and that was what was best for Dom. She always put herself second to Dom. She was finally putting herself first even after sleeping with Dom she still was going ahead with her plan of getting a new job.
Another great book in the WAGS series and I can’t wait to read more.
