This is the 2015 second edition of Score On Me, the first book in the ice hockey romance series, the Renegades. Re-worked and tweaked with a wonderful new editor, and some added storyline to this sweet but steamy sports romance novel.Happily ever after? Not on Kat Torella’s radar. She didn’t believe in it, at least not for her. More to the point, she wasn’t sure she was even built for love. … love. Cautious where her heart is concerned, Kat instead focuses on her career as sports reporter for the local paper.
But when she meets him, Kat throws caution to the wind. After all, what girl wouldn’t want to spend a steamy night with her all-time NHL crush? Especially one with mesmerizing chocolate brown eyes, a swoon worthy smile, and shaggy sex hair.
Kris Lafleur, sexy star defenseman for the Pittsburgh Renegades ice hockey team has spent the last year dedicating himself to the game while getting over a disastrous relationship. A hopeless romantic, deep down Kris longs for a girl who is attracted to him and not his bank account.
After their sexy night together, Kat tries to make a graceful exit. After all, she knows there’s no happily ever after to see here. A guy like Kris Lafleur would never see a future with someone like her. But Kris has other ideas and he’s determined not to let Kat walk out of his life. His heart insists she’s the real deal, and he wants her, baggage and all.
While Kat battles her insecurities, Kris contends with interference from a well-meaning teammate who wants to save him from being burned again. And when it looks like history is repeating and trust is called into play, will their love be strong enough to survive?

A wonder sport related romance. A romantic hockey star who falls for a woman with a mother who causes her to have low self esteem. The two lovers learn to trust their love. You fall in love with the main characters in this story. I usually go for the free novels, but I will be buying this series. A five star story and author.
Kat had a lot of self esteem problems and insecurities. Kris, a buff hockey star found her curvy and attractive. It took him time and patience to convince Kat otherwise. How did Kat begin accepting herself? Will Kris accept the changes Kat makes in her llife.
This was a good hockey romance. The chemistry between all of the characters was great (lovebirds, players, siblings, parents). The author included different details and setting dealing with hockey ( arena seats, concession stands, owners/wives boxes, practices, travel days, etc). I would have likedmore of a p.o.v. of Kris on ice and some play action through him, but the author did a nice job of including the aspects of hockey into the book. I liked the different p.o.v. throughout ( between Kris’s and Kat’s).
The book leaned more towards fantasy romance ( love at first sight, quickly falling in love) than a traditional, more real life, romance; but it worked for this book 🙂
I recommend if you enjoy hockey and romance 🙂
I really enjoyed it. I’m still new to watching and understanding hockey, but I love the obvious passion for the game that the author infuses into the characters.
I enjoyed Kat and Kris’s story. I love hockey romance books and I was happy that this book included some hockey. I was able to relate to Kat’s body image issues and her mother’s beat down. I admired how the author handled this. I smiled a lot as I read this book as the average girl got the love of the hunk.
The beginning of this book and Kris and Kat’s meeting is one of my all time favorites! I absolutely loved their story and can’t wait to read Unsportsmanlike Conduct, Renegades #2.
Well written modern day love story. I can’t explain it, everything just fell into place like it should, like actual love.
It’s meant to be. You need to read this!
I found this story to be a bit long. It’s written at times very immaturely. However, there is great character development. The people who ended were totally different then the start. The ending was happy, just wasn’t a spectacular one.
Score on Me is the first novel in the Renegades series by Melody Heck Gatto. It is a short romantic read for hockey lovers. The two main characters in the novel are filled with passion and create steamy scenes throughout the story.
I do wish the characters had more of individual personalities, they all seemed to blend together after a while. I also felt that there was a lot of unnecessary filler scenes and used too many pet names for my taste. Overall, it was a nice and easy sports romance to read.
(I received a copy of Score on Me from Melody Heck Gatto in exchange for my honest review.)
I like that Kat is a normal woman, but I got a little tired of reading about her insecurities.
There were great parts of this book and some slow parts. Now please understand that I am not a hockey fan which is why those parts were not so fast paced for me. I am just one chicks opinion!
The story line was good and had potential, but the writing was stilted and characters were not fully developed,
sweetly written, sweet story, but a little cheesy for what I was looking for. They are basically in love before they meet. Then it just moves quickly from there with little contraversary. Everything is just roses.. I made it about 1/2 way through, her sister comes in and I just want to bitch slap the sister with some of her not needed comments. So just nausiatingly sweet story. I needed more meat and potatoes, somebody fight drama..
