Welcome to Hidden Creek, Texas, where the heart knows what it wants, and where true love lives happily ever after. Every Men of Hidden Creek novel can be read on its own, but keep an eye out for familiar faces around town! This book contains eye-rolling teenagers, stolen kisses, and fewer noogies than you’d expect.

I liked this book and the entire series but, while all the “Men of Hidden Creek” series were written by different authors, unfortunately they all had the same issues. Mostly they fell flat where the build up to the crises and during the crises. The bedroom scenes where only ok, overly long. Sometime a couple of chapters long. The crises part…zip. I think build up and execution could have been better. Also better use of an editor would have helped.
Yes, Author Amy Wasp has produced, created, cooked up another wonderful story. By now, I believe that this is a sure thing when I see this author’s name in a new book. I loved her military series and this hockey series is even better. SCORE is one of those stories that is so smooth, so beautifully written that I think I have about 30 underlined excerpts. This is by far not a comedy and there are some serious topics but underneath it all there is a flavor of humor that persists in floating to the top! Beau is a blue-haired, minor league hockey player who comes to town when he is assigned to play with the local ECHL hockey team, the Tornadoes. Some of the other players, one in particular, appear to be a particularly nasty bigot, homophobe and can easily be described using some other nasty adjectives so Beau is looking for a place to live that is away from the madding crowd.
Former Marine Connor Casey returned home following the death of his mother. Oh, and did I mention that the family home had been nearly destroyed by Hurricane Harvey. Connor has been away in the service and barely knows his half-siblings. Marines are not trained to fill in for deceased parents and now, without a training manual or experience, Connor is responsible for keeping the family together, fixing the home within a tight deadline.
I don’t want to ruin your appreciation of this crazy story by spilling the beans. Let’s just stay that this story is heart-breaking, soul-shaking, earth-quaking and yes, even love-making. You, the reader, will experience the full range of emotions, with the characters in the story. There are secondary characters to despise, others who engender strong dislike and yet others who make you warm and fuzzy with electric shocks like those you experience when walking in stockings on a carpet in the winter. Oh yes, there are zingers – “warm for my form” for example. An occasional slip of the tongue and sprinkles, of incredible humor. You will meet a van named Lady Gaga, a Prince named Connorette and Breaumeo, a handsome knight with blue hair and beefy arms, There are teens and tweens, attitudes and parenting mishaps.
Yes, yet another favorite book, a 5-star de
Score (Men of Hidden Creek) by A.E. Wasp. This is Beau and Connor’s story.
