I’m no one’s savior.I work with the Cerberus MC for the thrills, not for the glory.Saving people who’ve been trafficked is just a side benefit, coming in second to the adrenaline rush of eradicating some of the evil in the world.Mia Vazquez didn’t seem to get the memo. When I pulled her out of Hell, she wouldn’t let go. She literally wrapped her arms around my neck and refused to release me.I did … neck and refused to release me.
I did the only thing I could do; I held her back.
For weeks I stayed by her side, comforting her and assuring her things would eventually get better.
She managed to climb inside of me, and then she took off.
Mia Vazquez didn’t get the memo.
She’s mine, and letting go of me doesn’t mean I’ll let go of her.

Mia and Scooter….sigh. I think I have found my new favorite couple in the Cerebus series.
They meet when the team rescues Mia from weeks of torture inflicted by sex traffickers. She is relies on Scooter as her savior. Their feelings evolve into something more than rescuer and “rescuee.”
I love that Scooter is not only strong but sensitive to Mia’s feelings and her health, both mentally and physically.
You don’t have to read the prior books in the series to enjoy this one, but if you haven’t it will definitely peak your interest to seek out the other members’ stories.
Another great read by Ms. James!
Comment
I have been in love with the Cerberus MC since the very beginning and I seem to fall deeper and deeper with each member’s story. But Scooter has amped up my obsession to a whole new level.
Marie James gives me everything I have come to expect from her and more with this one. She knows how too pull you into to the story from the start and with this one she did it from the previous book. We only caught a small bit of Ryan and Mia’s story in the previous book I knew it would be amazing and boy did James ever deliver! She takes a very sensitive subject and turns it into a beautiful story of healing.
Scooter is an absolute must read! I highly recommend one-clicking!
I think I started falling for Scooter in the last book. Even the little we got of him was enough to know he was going to be another amazing leading man created by Marie James. And once again she did not disappoint.
I absolutely loved this story. I loved how it took an extremely sensitive subject and made a beautiful experience from it. I loved that these two main characters really had a transformation from start to finish due to the way they met. While they had an attraction early on, this story wasn’t based on that. This story didn’t needed to be heavy on the steam to still be amazing.
In all honesty everything about this book just had me even more impressed by Marie James as an author.
This is definitely a must read.
When Ryan aka Scooter saves Mia he never expected his life to be turned upside down. He’s no one’s hero. He just does his job and does it well. Sure his main focus is saving the lives of those who have been stolen away from their families and that’s a huge rush but he’s not looking for glory he craves the pulse adrenaline he gets by ridding the world of evil…until Mia.
When Mia’s life turns into a living, breathing nightmare after being kidnapped she doesn’t think she’ll ever be free again. Even when he walks through the door of hell in a halo of light does she feel free but she holds onto the safety he represents…her savior.
The road to Mia’s recovery isn’t an easy one. It’s filled with potholes, switchbacks and steep cliffs but with Scooter taking the wheel and guiding her on her journey, she feels she can make it. But with one phone call, she realizes she needs to go and be the driver in her own recovery and that she’s keeping him from his life by letting him take the lead. He may be at the center of her recovery but he’s also the center of her heart and how could a man like him want a broken woman like her…she needs to put herself back together not only for herself but to be the woman he could love.
When Mia disappears Scooter can’t breathe. He’s been by her side since the day he picked her up and walked her out to freedom and he’s never not once wanted her to leave his side. She’s safe there and he knows she feels it, so why would she leave him? Doesn’t she realize he needs her just as much as she needs him? She thinks she’s a burden on him but that’s so far from the truth. He may be the center of her stability but she’s the center of his heart…he’s going to find her and make her see exactly what she means to him.
I absolutely love this series! And this book did not disappoint! It has all the emotions, heartbreak and healing, hope and understanding, patience and love. The emotions are wrenching and the coming together of these two souls is a beautiful heart wrenching journey. Thank you Marie James for another amazing book! Can’t wait to see what’s next!
Oh wow! after finishing Tug I was in serious anticipation for Scooter and Mia’s story and Marie James did not disappoint me. She completely outdid herself with this one, so many emotions and so raw and flawless.
When Cerberus go on a Mission to aid Max finding his sister who had been kidnapped by sex traffickers. Scooter is the one to find Mia and when he carries her out of where shes held a bond is formed. He is the only one she trusts 100% and will let near her and he will do whatever he needs to or whatever she wants to keep her safe.
Marie has done a phenomenal job with this one as she has given us the normal gritty MC read that we love, the characters we love even more mixed with some dark topics of PTSD and fear. The healing and love shone through out this one. Scooter seriously made me swoon, this man was EVERYTHING!!
Well done Marie! as always I have loved your writing and I cant wait to see what she brings us next.
Oh my, my, my
I was so freaking excited for this book and it’s more then I expect or ever hoped for. When Mia met Scooter in the previous book my heart absolutely broke for her. And I wondered how the author was going to take this beautiful couple. I can’t say or express how much I loved this story and characters.
Mia is so broken and the way Scooter is so tender with her I was in awe. This man y’all is everything and I do mean everything. She’s strong, protective and so incredibly sweet that he will have your ovaries exploding. If you haven’t met the men of Ceberus please give them a chance. You will not regret it!

I love Marie James books and love her Cerberus series. I have read each one and I have to say that Scooter is my absolute favorite! I usually need some time between reading and rereading a book. Not this one! As soon as I was done, I picked it back up and reread it. It is heartbreaking what Mia has gone through. The love and compassion that Scooter shows her will melt your heart. You can’t help but fall head over heels for him too. This is a couple you just root for. I highly recommend getting lost in this book.
I enjoyed this one because the storyline was interesting and believable and it flowed seamlessly. Everything seemed to happen just as it was meant to, in the right order and at the right pace. 4 stars
Another great read by Marie James.
Where can we actually meet men that are portrayed in Marie’s book?
Anyway, Scooter as you know is part of the Cerberus MC and they are a group you won’t want to mess with.
As they go to Miami to rescue women who were abducted for human trafficking.
This one is close to the MC because one of the women abducted is Max’s twin sister Mia.
Mia was abducted while going to shop at the mall.
She has been in in their compound for 7 weeks and has been thru hell and back.
As the Cerberus MC converge on the compound, they take out every bad guy there but unfortunately the main subjects were not there and they are believed to have returned to Venezuela.
As they go into the basement, they find the women and Scooter (Ryan) finds Mia. She is afraid of him, thinking he is part of the abduction crew and there to take her elsewhere. Once she realizes that Scooter is there to rescue her, she clings to him. He is her savior and won’t let go.
They get to the hospital and the doctors take her to evaluate her. Once she is back in the room, Scooter goes to see how she is doing and hears her screaming. He runs into the room, goes over to her and she calms down after he talks to her quietly. Scooter looks around and sees Max sitting there (Mia has presumed he was dead for the last 10 years).
Scooter stays with Mia the entire time she is in the hospital. Her fiance Jason doesn’t even come back to visit after the 1st day (he is worthless)
Mia is discharged from the hospital but doesn’t want to stay in Miami (where she lives) or back home to Louisiana. So, Ryan decides to take her back to the Cerberus compound in New Mexico.
Slowly Mia begins to heal from the outside in. Ryan does everything and anything to help her. He even moves her into his room and she stays there as long as needed.
A phone call that Scooter takes is misunderstood by Mia. She believes that she is keeping him from his girlfriend and decides to make a run for it. That goes wrong and when he finds her, she is freezing and has frostbite.
Since the head of the Human Trafficking has fled so Cerberus is going to hunt them down. Max is staying at the compound with Mia and the other women. Now, Mia still hasn’t talked to Max and the time the other guys are gone is going to be difficult.
Ryan and Mia keep in touch as much as they can while he is out of the country. It takes time but they eventually get the guys at both compounds but not w/o a problem with the way Scooter handled the capture and killing of the main guy involved (and the woman with him). Scooter went and tortured the guy instead of killing him immediately, lost focus and didn’t see him pull a weapon on him. Jinx ended up having to kill the guy.
The MC guys get back to the Cerberus compound and Kincaid calls Scooter into the conference room. All the officers are there and Kincaid asks what happened. Scooter ends up suspended for 1 month, going to be investigated by the CIA and has to go thru a psych evaluation to see if he is fit to return to duty.
Scooter is very distant to everyone including Mia. She thinks that Scooter doesn’t want her around but that isn’t it.
Mia leaves and returns to her parents home in Louisiana then after a while she go to Miami to talk to Jason only to find another woman living in their apartment. Jason runs home from work only to find that Mia has already met the “other” woman. They have already packed up all of her things and stored them in the extra bedroom.
Mia gets her clothes down her her parents vehicle.
After a couple months, Mia jumps on a plane for New Mexico. She arrives at the compound and Scooter meets her at the door.
Needless to say, they have a good heart to heart talk and say the words that should have been said before “I Love You”
If you have read any of the other Cerberus books, you will definitely devour this one as well.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Another epic read from Marie James in the Cerberus MC series. These books keep getting better and better.
Scooter and Mia story isn’t like anything I’ve read before. The trauma that Mia has gone through is brutal. And Scooter is so gentle with her. He makes you fall in love with him right from the start. This book isn’t for the faint of heart. And Marie has such a way with words she gets you addicted right from the start.
This is a book you won’t soon forget and I will be comparing it to a lot of books in the future. It will take an epic book to get this one off the top of my best reads of the year.
Bry Ann I loved this story, it was emotional and dynamic as well as kicka** and fun. The romance really shined through and the banter really sold me. This author has a way of writing in which I am drawn into the story and connect with the characters, even if I don’t like them or think they make the incorrect choice… not that Scooter did, he was nothing short of amazing. The beginnings of this romance start in Tug (the previous book) though you don’t have to read it, I always recommend it. This book gives you the full romance, action, heat and glory that the story and characters demand. I loved this book. 4.5 stars.
The Cerberus MC just keeps getting better and better with each book. Military boys banding together to make the world a better place? And they’re bikers? Sign me up.
This is Tug and Mia’s story. Mia has been taken, traumatized, and now saved. She clings to Tug from the beginning. No matter how hard he tries to shake her she just won’t let go.
Marie James is one of my go to feel good authors. While this is a series I think they could be read individually without the prior books.

Loved this book, found it hard to put down. Scooter and his team rescue one of their owns sister from a slave ring. Mia was taken and forced to do things no one should have to do. When her savior comes she finds it hard to leave the safety she feels for him
Marie James gives us another amazing Cerberus story. Loved Scooter and Mia’s story. So much emotion, caring and healing and learning to live again. Can’t wait to see what is next!
I was so excited for this book and Marie James did not disappoint! This was such a beautifully written story that took you on an emotional journey.
Mia went through a horrifically tragic event and Scooter was the hero who scooped in and saved her. Scooter is there for her each time she falls and is determined to make her whole again.
Mia, on the other hand, wants to give Scooter his life back and no longer be a burden. What happens when one person is determined to leave and the other wants to hold on with both hands and never let go?
This amazing story of finding oneself again while accepting the love of the person meant to support you along the way.
Another fantastic story from the Cerberus MC world!! I was all on board for this book after the dramatic ending in Tug and this story didn’t disappoint! Ryan/Scooter rescues Mia from a sex trafficking ring and she latches onto him as her savior. He believes he is unworthy of her hero worship, but he is still so patient and kind helping Mia work through her lingering effects caused by her abduction. Great story bring on the book 12!!
This was such a touching emotional read!! I absolutely loved Ryan/ Scooter and his treatment of Mia. Loved how the reactions and behaviors were so realistic. Can’t wait for more Cerberus!!
I cannot get enough of the Cerberus MC series! Each book is better than the previous and I need more. Scooter and Mia’s story will break your heart and piece it back together in such a way that this story will stay with you for a very long time.
It’s no secret I’m a huge fan of Marie James’ words. She has an incredible way of weaving amazing characters with real and raw topics and the outcome is just pure magic. I can’t recommend this series enough!!
Love this series..
…Scooter has won my heart and soul.
Fierce and protective, a hero you swoon for, that will also get your heart racing

Another amazing story!
Shooter is a man on a mission before he encounters Mia.
He lives for the thrill of ridding the world of evil scum. Saving as many people as he can….
Mia brings out a whole new side to him. A side nobody has seen before..
I was hooked from the very first page. Love the Cerberus MC series.
