A horrifying school shooting draws Boston PI Spenser into a harrowing investigation in this thriller by New York Times bestselling author Robert B. Parker. When a Massachusetts boy is accused of mass murder, his socially prominent grandmother is convinced of his innocence and is willing to fight for him. My husband and I listened to this School Days audiobook again this summer, and we enjoyed watching Spencer get to the root of the mystery. This book doesn’t include Hawk or any of his other “friends with guns,” but it was a good mystery anyway — with an unpredictable ending. If you like mysteries featuring a wise-cracking P.I., you’ll love the Spencer For Hire series.
The Spencer (with a ‘C’) are easy to read and go to fast once started. The characters Hawk and Spencer are captivating.
Robert B. Parker is Always good reading
Although i thought I had written all these books, I had somehow missed this one. You can never have too much Robert Parker
One of the world’s great authors!
Parker is predictably good.
I like all of Robert Parker’s novels and have bread most of them. They’re entertaining, funny and a fresh breath of air.
Spenser novels are the best. Great dialogue.
I love all Robert Parker’s book. They are all a fun and easy read.
Always love reading a Spencer story!
Coming right after the Columbine High School shooting in Colorado in 1999, this book uses a touchy subject to create your standard Spenser novel. People looking for some sort of social commentary on mass shootings will be disappointed and Spenser fans may be perturbed at the author’s seemingly casual treatment of an incident that is still upsetting in the popular memory. Strictly from the standard of a Spenser novel, this is nothing special, about a C+. Some weaknesses in the procedural aspects and a truly insipid bad guy.
Enjoyed this book very much.
Classic Spenser! Nice quick read.
Spencer books are all my favorites – the characters are great, the action is ongoing, and he always throws a little wit in there too. Always a good buy
Standard Spenser, Excellent read!
Always a wonderful read with Parker!
Robert Parker books aren’t my favorites, but they are an easy read when I don’t want to think. This book was typical of his other Spencer novels.
This book kept me up late!
Either I missed this Parker book or I had completely forgotten it…so I picked it up off BB. GREAT read. Vintage Parker. I missed Hawk and Susan from this story but it’s still great.
You can not go wrong with Robert Parker
