The PriestessLoyalty is a fickle thing, but I’ve found mine in two men. Nothing about them is the same, yet the similarities that only I can see, are enough to draw me to them. I want to protect one and destroy the other, but what happens when their true intentions are brought to light? They see me as someone to worship—or so I thought. Danger is on the horizon and I’ll face it head on because … horizon and I’ll face it head on because that’s just the kind of gal I am.
The Devil
Feelings are boring and emotions are useless, yet the one thing I want in this world seems to keep eluding me.
A beautiful evil carefully disguised as someone who knows how to pull my strings and can stop me before it’s too late. For her? For me? For her friend? I don’t know.
I see her for what she really is and she won’t be able to keep slipping out of reach.
Why?
Because eventually, even the devil gets his due.
The Burden
Life isn’t something that’s been easy for me, yet her presence alone makes it all seem worth it.
I never expected to feel what I do for someone who I know should be out of reach, but it’s not just her anymore. It’s him too, and he knows it.
They both do.
They play me against each other. One testing my loyalty, the other testing my ability to feel, and I let them.
I can’t live without one, but I know that I won’t be able to survive if I cross the other.
Times are going to become more difficult and even though I know what side I should choose, I’m afraid that when faced with the choice, I’ll lead with my heart and not with my head.

Unholy cow! This is possibly one of the darkest books I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. I want to uncover all the plotting and the secrets of these three characters, never quite understanding what any of their agendas might be. Three characters with such dark depths that they may never fully be explored, inviting yet at the same time warning you to stay away. Olsen is a master wordsmith and I even found myself noticing moments of beauty within the dark. Yes, there’s a cliffhanger, but surprisingly I didn’t feel frustrated by it – it was more a natural pause in the story. I think I’m gonna need a few days to adjust before I move on to the next book, but move on I definitely will.
My love for the dark and twisted was found in this book! This is definitely one of those books where I told myself that I shouldn’t find that amusing but I most definitely did!! Can’t wait to continue on with Lakyn, Bea and Ich’s story!
What can I say about this book.
It is a roadtrip Yolanda Olsen style with dark twisted characters and a lot of secrets.
Anyone who’s read anything by Yolanda Olson knows to expect certain things. There will be twists and turns, you will be kept on your toes, and there will be blood. Knowing that going in, you never realize how wild her mind is, the things she comes up with, the intensity of the characters, and just an all around sense of watching these scenes unfold in front of you – no amount of yelling at the characters, wanting to smack a few across the head, and maybe wanting to console them.
This journey will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat, have you switching alliances, and wondering who will make it to the end.
Well written and thought provoking, this story will have you begging for more!
I love how the characters stories intertwined and feed off of each other. You get to see what they are thinking and feeling through out the story. I enjoyed how the author balanced the story. I didn’t feel like I was getting too much of one thing or too less of something. It has its calm, twisted, no they didn’t, bloody, crazy and OMG moments. My favorite character is Lakyn. He is such a smug little S.O.B..
Beatrix. She is one crazy chick. You do not want to cross her.
Ichabod. Oh, his loyalty and self preservation is tested and OMG.
The journey is on and I can’t wait to read the part 2
This author likes to mess with your emotions that’s for sure.
Three characters so vastly different you wonder what they have in common and why they stick to each other like glue no matter what happens.
The author makes me feel protective over one character, hate another and quietly watch the third not knowing what to expect then bam! changes how you feel about certain things. It takes a talented author to change my mind about anything once it’s set.
The book has a brilliant pace to it, nothing is rushed but be aware this is a two parter and i cannot wait to see where things go, something tells me it’s going to get crazier and i can’t wait.
It was not what I was expecting, but it was so good! Dark and twisted. Bloody and dirty. Crazy that it’s so very sexy!
The book is a rollercoaster of a ride into a dark and twisted world, on a road trip to hell with some compelling yet terrifying characters. Lakyn, Trixie and Ichabod aren’t exactly likeable but you get drawn into their lives and their actions. You think you have them figured out and then you turn to the next page and you’re reassessing what you thought you knew. They make you wonder if they’re humanity at its worst or something beyond human and not knowing makes their actions even more frightening.
Reading this book is an experience, like watching a horror movie or seeing an accident. You don’t necessarily want to look, but can’t stop yourself. You’re hiding behind a cushion while enjoying the adrenaline rush. The book is very original. It is well written and the storyline twists and turns in unpredictable ways. Reading the book made me feel disjointed, disturbed and both disconnected and connected at the same time. I felt compelled to read on and learn more while the most empathetic parts of me, went in search of safe place to survive.
I can honestly say I’ve never read anything like this before but it was very hard to put down once you started reading it.
Really good book to read. Couldn’t put it down. Five star book. Great start to the series
I do recommend it.
It’s been a long time since a book blew my mind like this one did. You couldn’t have 3 more different people but they somehow just fit. I can see why she couldn’t fit it all into one book. I can’t wait to see what she had in store for us with Vultures.
Are afraid of the dark, messed up and freak show
Yes?
Go ahead!
This book did that in my head so bad that blown my mind in so many ways.
Yolanda Olson writing is so amazing specific that you can deny in the first paragraph.
The plot of omg.
Lakyn is a dark, twisted man and I love him to the core.
Our Trixie came in a little package but warned of her.
And there is Ichy our sweet piece on candy but with past trouble.
Between these three characters is a dark, twisted and deviously captivating story which held me in its grasp.
The character development and world building are astonishing, and the vivid details and character-driven plot take it to a whole other level.
The story when you think you are getting somewhere, nope isn’t getting anywhere so is unpredictable, and I love every second of this amazing book.
I would love to say some dirty words, but that will never come as a review on Amazon, but be aware, this book is hight addictive.
Amazing!!!
