I purchased a copy of the steamy six-book boxset Scavenger Hunt by Karen Kelley and this review was given freely. These are six steamy fast-paced short novels featuring six workaholic good female friends and a dating dare game that matches seemingly opposite professions and personalities with the goal of a memorable and pleasurable one night stand. Each novel contains some irony, has lots of steamy scenes, a happy ending, and introduces the next book.
18+ recommended for intimate scenes.
1. Book One: Roped: Josephine aka Josie: 5 stars
Roped is a good introduction to the series and the group of six workaholics Dallas, Texas friends who make a pact to slow down and to play a card game that chooses the profession of their next sex partner but if they forfeit they must take a two week vacation on a remote island without electronics. Taught by her family to strive for the best in business and financial security in a spouse, new financial analyst partner Josephine/Josie, who was tasked with finding a cowboy, literally runs into Levi at the Rodeo which results in a steamy one night stand where he breaks down all her inhibitions and although she sticks to the one night rule, she longs for Levi until a surprise meeting with 32 year old billionaire investor and rancher Gerard McQuade brings her everything she longs for. 18+ recommended for intimate scenes.
2. Book Two: Confessions: 3 stars
Too vivid and intense for my preference. Caught between Christian values, attraction and advisories, this novel is full of BDSM acts. Envious of her friends freedom and questioning both her strict Christian upbringing and her parents’ expectations, twenty six year old ”good Girl” and publicist for the prominent Reverend Scott Reed, Samantha Tarlton finds herself panicking when two weeks of unacceptable plumber candidates ends in the helpful Josie sending male stripper Tye which result in curiosity and an introduction to the Mr. Derek Ward the owner of The Golden Cock BDSM Club. 18+ recommended for intimate scenes.
3. Book Three: Tempted: 4 stars
Realistic characters, instant attraction, an appreciation for the simplicity of nature, some controversy but a happy ending. A dare to find a fisherman and a series of unfortunate events ends in Texas marketing agent Candace being trapped in a remote one room cabin in December in the mountains of Tennessee in a snow storm with struggling whiskey distiller Kash Parker.
4. Book Four: Undressed 4 stars
Vivid descriptions, a tour of New Orleans, irony and a hint of the mystic fill the pages of this instant attraction romance where Bree finds herself attracted to her competition.
Lonely fashion buyer for Enchantment, Bree Evans is hopeful of finding her “tour guide” and soulmate while on her business trip to New Orleans to sign the famous designer Maurice Bouchard only to have her hopes dashed when she learns that the persistent and intriguing Edmond Doucet has lied to her.
5. Book Five: Irresistible 4 stars Irony, a twist and family drama. Lonely and tired of the meaningless socialite life of parties and one night stands and, eager for her turn in the game, real- estate agent Dakota Warren laments “her pick “ of a nerd while resisting her attraction to the persistent actor/playboy Jake Collier.
6. Book Six: Secrets : 4 stars A story of lies, revenge, abuse and a love that transcends all. The last single friend, Abbie Sinclair takes the forfeit of two weeks on Waterfall Island to escape her controlling parents and an arranged marriage only to be reunite with her high school love, the island’s owner, Tony Romano 18+ for intimate scenes and violence,
