Casual isn’t meant to hurt.Dan Smith is in love with his best friend. So when he finds himself drowning in his grief, despair and loneliness pulling him down one final time, he expects her to step in and save him … He doesn’t expect a glamorous and beautiful socialite to step in. With her skin of the smoothest satin and her posh accent that could cut glass, she is the very last person he would … satin and her posh accent that could cut glass, she is the very last person he would ever have expected.
Sienna Richards has been toeing the family line her whole life. Unable to break free of the chains that prevent her from living with her future truly her own she plays the perfect daughter while trying to gain her freedom. She doesn’t expect it to come in the form of wide muscles, endless tattoos and a dark tendency for destruction.
He’s from the wrong side of the tracks. She’s tied in the silken restraints of her family. They’re exactly what each other needs, even if it can never be more than a casual arrangement. It can never be anything more, even if there’s a chance that together they could be everything.

Fantastic read – another 5*
I love Dan, I loved him from the first appearance in Tears of Ink book. I wanted so bad for him to be happy and to read his story to see what life has in store for him. And I’m so really grateful to author for his story. What really and completely shocked me was Sienna and how I would never pictured her as she is presented on the pages. This character and her development completely took me by surprise and honestly I fell in love with her even harder than I fell for Dan.
Amazing plot, fantastic writing, awesome characters and that all summed up to be a supreme story. Another 5* must read from this author and I can’t wait to read more of her books.
It’s hard to read Dan’s story and not have so much of it already told thru the Tears Series. The problem with that is if you haven’t read the Tears Series then you are kind of dropped into the story. Dan just fell apart when his father passed, then in his mind loosing Faith there just was nothing left. Not even his love for Abi and her family was enough to stop his spiral. Until Sienna. She took an interest in Dan and his well being because of her own past. A past that was very much alive in a father who used his abuse of her mother to keep her in line. These two and their story is one of healing for both of them. What started as casual, just one night, ended up being a lifeline to better. We do get their story and we get their new birth. You won’t be disappointed because this author is just that good and that’s just one of many reasons I keep coming back.
Dan’s story! This release somehow snuck passed me. So when I seen it I had to have it. Dan was a secondary character in the main series but he totally deserved his. I loved how everything turned out for these two people. Everything he thought he knew and loved just wasn’t so. He hit rock bottom before being dragged out by Sienna. Don’t be fooled though, she has he own problems she is running from.
*4.5* After getting bits and pieces of Dan in the Tears of Ink trilogy we finally get his story. If definitely did not disappoint. Though I have to admit I only gave it 4.5 stars because I wish it was longer. I love Sienna. I’ll admit I wasn’t a fan of hers in the previous books but she slowly started redeeming herself. I love that she got her HEA in this book, even if they were keeping it on the down low. After her socialite life she needed some privacy. Dan angered me. He really pissed me off. But as we got to know him, and Sienna infiltrated his life more, I started to like him better. I love that he finally let go of his anger and the past and started working toward his future; a future that would make him happy. I would have loved to see more of this couple but I’m so happy for the two of them that I’m okay with what we got. Maybe we’ll see more of them in future books… one can only hope. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.*
If you have yet to read the ‘Tears of’ trilogy by Anna Bloom then please do so. Not only have you missed out on reading the most incredible book series, but Scars of Silk is the story of Dan and Sienna who you will have already met in all three books. I personally feel that knowing the history of the characters and the story line from the trilogy would be beneficial, but if you wanted to start Scars of Silk right now then I’m certain you will love and enjoy this fabulous book equally as much.
Scars of Silk is one book that I have been desperate to read. In the trilogy Dan Smith is one of Faith’s best friends and sometimes when reading a book you don’t look too closely at secondary characters. I loved having Dan in the spotlight in this novel as I really wanted to get to know more about him and discover the man beneath the tattoos. I had no idea that Dan would end up owning a piece of my heart. His story definitely needed to be told because so many preconceptions that I had about him changed as I turned the pages of this book. I loved taking the time to learn more about him and discover his feelings and witness what he went and continued to go through. I was hooked from the very first chapter and I so desperately wanted Dan to get his life back on track.
As I’ve already mentioned, Sienna Richards is another character from the trilogy and I found myself totally intrigued by her. I found Sienna not to be the person I originally thought she was and I really want you to meet the real her. My opinion of her certainly differs because of what I’ve learned about her in Scars of Silk and I think you’ll find her story fascinating too.
I love a book that has me gripped from the very beginning. I love a book that has me changing my opinions about people and situations, and also one that enables me to discover an individual underneath the persona displayed to others. Scars of Silk ticked every single one of my boxes. By the time I reached the epilogue I really didn’t want to read it, and the reason behind that was that I simply didn’t want to say goodbye to the characters that I have grown to love and end the incredible journey that this fabulous series has taken me on. This will always be one of my top favourites. Anna Bloom has never disappointed me when I’ve picked up one of her books, and I hope you enjoy this as much as I have.
Great companion story to the Tears of.. series by Anna Bloom. I enjoyed it very much.
Both Sienna and Dan was first intorduced as secondary characters in the first three book of the series. It’s great they got their own story.
My heart ached for Dan and what he went through and how he couldn’t deal with everything that’s been thrown on him.
Even when she first appeared as controversial character in previous books, I knew Sienna was more than what met the eye. I also felt for her. Her seemingly privileged life was anything but easy or nice.
Scars of Silk was a great story with enjoyable characters and writing. As I read all the books in the series I couldn’t decide if it was a standalone but it’s definitely worth giving a try whether in or out of order.
Beautiful story full of heart.
Thankyou Anna Bloom for giving us Dan’s story. Angry, hurt, broken man that he is, there was always much more to his complex soul than the a-hole persona he showed us so much of in the wonderful Tears of Ink series. Sienna was perfect for him, she was broken too but not willing to give up on him. Behind the facade of the rich socialite she was the sweetest of souls, former fiance and good friend of Elijah, she was trapped by her family’s status, suffering from guilt and shame. They were perfect for each other.
I absolutely loved this book, I couldn’t stop turning the pages. Although it was shorter than the previous books, it was packed full of angst, drama and super hot sexiness. A roller coaster of emotional turmoil as they both struggled to survive and come to terms with life and the possibility that love can heal if only they could trust in it.
Although technically a standalone, I would recommend reading the Tears of Ink series first (it’s flipping fantastic). A lot of this story runs in parallel with it and you would get a lot more depth and understanding of Dan’s character and past from it.
This author has become a firm favourite of mine, 5 highly recommend stars!
4.5 Silk Stars
I simply adored Anna’s Tears of…. Series and in that my heart broke for Dan, to the extent that I annoyed Anna that she needed to give him a good story, a happy ending and she certainly didn’t disappoint me!!
If you haven’t read the Tears of series then I highly advise you do, not that this can’t be read as a standalone but it will spoil your enjoyment if you read this first as it runs parallel to Tears of Gold
Once I started this on a Sunday afternoon I couldn’t put it down and devoured it quite quickly. It was such a roller-coaster of emotions reading this and I felt every single one of them. Anna has really knocked it out of the park with these books. Her best to date!!
Dan is one of Faith’s (from Tears Of) best friend, practically her family. They have been through so much together he is lost at the moment and in a really dark place. I wanted to see him get his life back on track,to get to know him and for him to get his HEA as he deserved it.
Sienna is another character we have met in Tears Of. My opinion changed throughout this book on Sienna as I wasn’t too much of a fan of her before. In the Tears of series she is the last person I would have put with Dan but seeing them together I can see how they fit. They are two damaged souls that may actually bring each other back to life.
I am sad to say goodbye to these characters as I have loved every word. Well done Anna for a phenomenal story
