We are the Rossetti’s.The exiled “sixth” family of the New York mafia. We’re the good guys.People don’t fear us…much. They respect us.The five of us? We’re the Brooklyn Brothers. And we protect what’s ours. You know when you have a little sister and she has that one friend that always follows you around like a puppy? For me, that was Roxanna “Roxy” D’Angelo. That was years ago, back when our … years ago, back when our fathers didn’t hate each other. Then they became enemies and she went off to boarding school in Connecticut.
Now, she’s back…and looking nothing like the shy girl I remember.
Cavorting with anyone from the five families is strictly forbidden to someone like me. So, I can’t figure out why I keep finding myself in situations with Roxy that could bring the force of the entire mafia syndicate down on our heads. Even if those situations are the wildest, most intoxicating experiences of my life.
But with the Sicilians in town and out for blood, times have never been more dangerous. If they find out about our relationship, they won’t hesitate to remove both of us from the equation so they can restore order.
We’re not Romeo and Juliet. They both died. And I refuse to let anything happen to Roxy. I have to protect her. From my family. From hers.
I hope she won’t hate me for what I have to do.
Because it might just kill her before any bullet can.

I just finished writing a review for the first book in this series, Lace and Lies, and as I explained in that review, I’ve absolutely fallen in love with Ms. Munton’s writing so I recently purchased the first 2 books in the Brooklyn Brothers Series so that I could get caught up with the Rossetti family. Needless to say, I read both Lace and Lies and Scars and Sins in a couple of days — I couldn’t put them down! Scars and Sins is Ace and Roxy’s story and it’s another steamy, edge-of-your-seat page turner. I love that these characters are smart and intelligent and know what they want out of life. Ms. Munton’s books are always intriguing and interesting with subplots and always a twist or turn that keeps you guessing. These characters are well developed and extremely well written. I love everything about this series and can’t wait for the next Rossetti brother’s story! As always, another 5+ star read from Melanie Munton.
Scars and Sins by Melanie Munton is book Two in the Brooklyn Brothers Series. This is the story of Roxanna “Roxy” and Ace. I have read the previous book which helped me to enjoy this one but I did feel you could make it a standalone book if you wish to do so. Roxy was the annoying little friend of his sister and was off limits to him. Then their families became enemies and Roxy who had a crush on him ended up leaving to go to college. Now after about 5 years her father has called her back home. Ace’s family and her are still enemies but when Ace lays eyes on Roxy after not seeing her for years he see a whole new person. The attraction is strong and it just keeps drawing them into something that neither came have. Enjoyed this mafia take on a Romeo and Juliet story.
I liked this book much better than the first one even though it started off a little slow. This book was full of drama and chaos. Ace and Roxy find themselves in a Romeo and Juliet plot line. Roxy naive, innocent girl while Ace is all alpha male. I love, love these two together!! I can’t wait for the next installment of this series!
Roxy really?
Ace you love-struck fool!
Things are getting a bit more complicated for the Rosetti family
Their last little “endeavor” to protect the family has left a vacuum among the leaders and a call for ‘heads to roll’ –
Just happens to be their heads that are wanted and
Roxy’s body that is needed
A quick summary here
Roxy has been called back from graduate school by her father
She has no idea why but she knows her loving father would not interrupt her life
unless it was important
Ace and the family are preparing for the blowback from the head families
When Roxy returns home she runs into her childhood crush -Ace
The feelings are still there only stronger – Much Stronger
Ace finds himself drawn to Roxy in a way that puts both his family and Roxy at risk.
But he can’t fight the need to be near her.
Roxy finds out she is part of a more nefarious plan and decides that enough is enough –
She is just not that girl
Roxy is counting down the seconds (just wait for it)
Ace is finally grasping what he has always known – Roxy is meant to be his.
Is it too late for our star crossed lovers?
Can Ace protect Roxy from the war about to erupt between the families?
Let me start with Ace –
Oh do I enjoy the Rossetti men –
Ace is highly intelligent and the family’s cyber professional.
He is more of the type to do battle with the mind than brute force.
But like all the men in his family,
he is no way lacking when it comes to defending those he loves.
He is a bit ‘stalkerish’ but nowhere near the levels of Cris.
I enjoyed how he pushed Roxy out of her comfort zone.
He showed her in every way possible
– besides words –
Yes, he failed to utter those three words and it almost cost him his Roxy girl –
that he was hers.
Roxy …
Okay, I will admit I felt half her problems were created by her impulsive responses
and how she created mountains out of molehills.
For being so career-driven and decisive I was a bit confused when she did the exact opposite
when it comes to her personal life
Girl pull up them panties and tell them what you want!
There is going to be some serious retribution owed after the events of this book –
Honestly, I am hoping it is one of the twins who falls next
*ARC kindly provided via NetGalley. This is my honest opinion.*
I love mafia romances! So, when Jamsu told me that she got accepted for this ARC, I thought to give it a try as well. This was my first book from the author.
Roxy and Ace’s relationship is a very complicated one. Anything between them is doomed from the start because of their families. Ace’s family, the Rosettis, stepped out from the New York syndicate years ago. However, he never stopped caring for her. Roxy had a crush on Ace for years. Being her best friend’s older brother, she used to spend many hours at his house.
For the past 5 years they haven’t seen each other. Roxy stopped any communication with the Rosetti family and left for college, Now she’s back because of her father. Of course, Ace couldn’t stay away for long. What he didn’t anticipated was his newfound attraction towards her.
“You might break me, you might ruin me. But you can’t fucking hurt me Rox.”
I don’t want to spoil the plot. What I’ll say is that the story is full of secrets and agendas. This wouldn’t be a mafia romance without some action, so be prepared for it!
I really like the book. What kept me from giving it 5 stars, was the start of the book. I had a difficult time getting into it, but thankfully I was sucked right in after that! I’ll be looking for the author’s next book; I want to find out what happened with Nico!!
Wow I think I loved this read better then the first in the series. This series is just getting better and better. Roxy is such an innocent naive girl before Ace, and holy Ace is pure alpha. Especially where Roxy is concerned. Loved these two together! So many more secrets come out in this read I can’t wait to read more about this family.
