For Autumn Hickman, online dating has been an exercise in nothing more than coffee and failure. There simply isn’t a man on the planet who can compare to her best friend, Trey Wattson. He knows Autumn’s soul, and it’s the most beautiful thing he’s ever seen. Desperate to claim Autumn’s heart for his own, Trey conspires with The Wolves to create a fake profile on the dating site Autumn frequents. But the more Autumn trusts Trey’s online persona, the more it becomes clear that Trey is gambling with the very thing he wants most of all.

Grateful to the author and publisher for an ARC of Scarred. Trey & Autumn’s story. Will 2 people who are best friends realize they are perfect for each other ? As with every other book in this series, it is amazing. Heartfelt and lovely. Tess Thompson has a way of bringing you in and making you feel like this is your home and these are your friends and family. You cheer every wonderful thing and cry over every sad one ! I can’t wait to dive into each new book but then I am crushed when it is over. Get on board with this series, you will love it. Eagerly awaiting # 9
EVERY book I read written by Tess Thompson I swear is her best yet… this book in the CLiffside Bay series is no exception. Book 8 featuring Trey and Autumn’s story is so beautifully written. I love following characters in a series, and I knew Trey and Autumns would be beautiful and captivating. I can’t wait for book nine!
This book takes us back to Cliffside Bay. This time we get the story of Trey and Autumn. Both have previous scars to overcome. Trey’s scars are internal due to his ex-wife and her cheating. He vowed to never love again, until Autumn. He doesn’t want to get into a relationship with a girl, until Autumn. Autumn has the physical scars. She was in a car accident at 14 years old. She has carried those with her all her life. She feels her life isn’t worthy of love. She doesn’t want to let anyone in to see her scars. She is afraid.
She meets Trey and they become fast friends. Autumn doesn’t realize it but she is changing Trey’s way of thinking on relationships and love. She holds all her thoughts and emotions inside. She doesn’t like to talk about her feelings. She starts to do online dating and meeting guys for coffee. However no one gets past the first meeting. She gets an email from “Art”. As she corresponds with Art, she gives away all her feelings. Trey helps her slowly come out of her shell. She doesn’t want to date her best friend because she doesn’t want to lose her friendship.
Then things hit a snag or set back. Something happens at Autumn’s house.
I really enjoyed this book. In a way, I feel as Autumn and Trey do. I have scars as well some physical and some emotional. This story helped me realize it doesn’t matter who you are in life. Rich, Poor, Beautiful or Ugly, Boy or Girl we all have scars in life. I loved how Pepper, Maggie and Lisa pointed that out to Autumn.
If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would. I highly recommend this book for all of us who feel that scars are holding them back.
Author Tess Thompson’s eighth book, in the Cliffside Bay Series, is a beautifully written novel that touches on every emotion and leave you begging for more! Written from the heart, Scarred is relative in showing that if someone truly loves you, they will not dwell on the imperfections but find them as beautiful as you are. Autumn Hickman has both physical and mental scars but Trey Wattson only sees the beauty. Having decorated her beach cottage, Trey found his heart slowly thawing, after his wife left him for his intern in their decorating business. Trey and Autumn are best friends that find themselves doing everything together. Autumn was involved in a car crash at the age of fourteen that left her legs badly damaged. Having had hurtful remarks made in the past and being left in the middle of the night by an ex boyfriend, Autumn refuses to show her legs to anyone, other than her family. Sensing that Trey’s feelings are stronger that he admits, the wolves rally around their friend and offer advice and support. Will Autumn and Trey finally realize that they are deeply in love with one another or will Autumn let the hurt she has faced in the past come between them? Will Trey finally let Autumn know his true heart or will a plan that the wolves put in place, backfire? The love and heartache in this series is so realistically written that I can feel each emotion. Author Tess Thompson seems to magically weave these glorious stories together that seems to fill my heart with love and hope for the future! I anxiously await the next book in the Cliffside Bay Series!
I love the Cliffside Bay series so much, and the series gets better with every single book. This book about Trey and Autumn is my favorite so far. Trey and Autumn have always been my favorite characters, so I was very glad to read their stories. There are a lot of good messages about body image in this one, which is very much needed in today’s society. I hope the next book comes soon!
Honestly I love all of Tess Thompson’s books. Scarred: Trey and Autumn is no different. I loved this book. It made my heart warm.. it made me laugh and it made me cry… boy did it make me ugly cry! Trey is such a sweet character who tries to give Autumn everything she deserves. The things he does to make Autumn feel loved inside and out makes my heart full. Tess has a way of making you feel like you are right there with each character! I enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the next one!
In this hectic world we live in, best friends are difficult to find and when you do discover that person, you want them to be in your life forever. What happens when that best friend is of the opposite sex and you begin to question whether your feelings are extending beyond friendship? This is what Trey Wattson and Autumn Hickman are struggling with in Tess Thompson’s 8th book in the Cliffside Bay series, Scarred: Trey and Autumn. Both are unsure if they should dare to take the risk to move the relationship in a different direction as they feel that if the other does not possess similar feelings, their friendship will never be the same. Trey and Autumn are scarred individuals who struggle with intimacy in different ways. Do they repress their feelings and continue on the safe path or take that leap of faith? Their issues are real. This 8th Cliffside Bay novel is unique as it also ties in the lives of other Cliffside Bay friends and family to add in elements of mystery, betrayal and forgiveness. It is one of those books that you never want to end. Book 9 can’t come soon enough for me! Thank you to the author/publisher for an ARC at my request. All thoughts in this review are my own and freely given.
Tess Thompson’s Cliffside Bay Series continues to amaze me. Each new book ignites her talent to create a book better than the last (and those were really, really good). A good book……a really good book pulls you in its pages. Away from all the noise around – to just be in its pages. Trey and Autumn are close friends but secretly each feels so much more for the other and fear expressing that love may cause friction if shared. This book made me want to read faster through the pages. Following Tess Thompson has taught me to read slower to cherish the building of characters, the movements through the scenes, the story that tells this part of life that holds moments to share. Beautifully written.. Savor these pages. Discover the friendships that can be more. I received an ARC to read prior to release day.
Trey and Autumn care about each other and don’t want to ruin the friendship they have… They both are scarred, one emotional and the other physically and Emotionally.. this story is about best friends becoming lovers and second chances and Forgiveness of certain family members wrong doings and letting go of a past that has been hurtful and haunting for years… it still has its usual MO of the women in all her stories being Victimized and this one has them victimized twice.. .. There’s suspense and friendship and love and forgiveness and letting go…. this book is part of a series…. Cliffside Bay…. I did receive an ARC in return for my honest opinion..
The Cliffside Bay series is a delight to read. Each book brings us a unique love story set in a charming beach town complete with great friendships and surprising events.
In Scarred, Autumn is a character most women can relate with. She has been through so much in her life and has physical and emotional scars that she carries with her. Because she can only see her flaws, Autumn doesn’t think anyone else cans past her scars to love her. Her best friend Trey has emotional scars as well but his are beginning to heal and he sees himself having a future with Autumn, if only he can find a way to convince her. I love how “The Wolves” are such loyal friends, always willing to help each other. As is always the case, when the story ended wasn’t ready for my time with these characters to end.
Have you ever read a book and thought it deserved a standing ovation? I recently read Scarred: Trey and Autumn by Tess Thompson and felt it was that amazing.
Ms. Thompson has created an emotional story with unexpected twists and characters that feel so realistic you will want to reach into the book and hug them. She has crafted scenes that will leave you laughing and others that will make you cry.
This is a wonder friends to lovers story with hope, healing, second chances and a little shenanigans.
While this book can be read as a stand alone, it would be best to read them in order to fully appreciate the story.
I recieved an ARC and all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
Going into this book… I wasn’t sure how I would feel about it. I love the series so far, starting with the Dogs and moving on to the Wolves, but I wasn’t sure where the characters could go from the last books. I had to wait until a day that I didn’t work, sat myself down and dove in. I was immediately caught up with the storyline of sheltering yourself from pain but ending up missing out. I love how Tess Thompson showed how everyone has wounds that not everyone can see, and how everyone has to work their way through the mess of their scars.
Tess Thompson’s Cliffside Bay series continues with Scarred. This story is Autumn and Trey’s story. She almost died in a car accident when she was 14 and is extremely self-conscious about the scars left behind. He is recently (3 years) divorced after his wife had an affair. They are best friends. Trey is one of the Wolves – a group of men whose friendship grew around common interest. Autumn’s older brother Stone is also one of the Wolves. Her other brother Kyle is one of the Dogs – another group of men whose friendship started in college and continues to evolve.
Add in Autumn, Stone, and Kyle’s long absent mother and the story becomes more complex. The author poses many unasked questions in this story. Who is the man seen hanging around the town? Does the recent fire have a connection with the characters? Does it have anything to do with a fire many years ago? Why did Trey insist on installing a security system in Autumn’s cottage? Meanwhile, there is another wedding being planned, another baby coming, and of course more intrigue in Cliffside Bay in Scarred.
For readers of the series, you know by now that since this is subtitled Autumn and Trey that this will be their story. Their story took several twists and turns, some I anticipated, some I did not. If I say anything more, I will have to add SPOILER ALERT to my review.
This is one more of the authors amazing books.Tess writes with vivid descriptions. It is easy to become engrossed in the story.i read this while waiting on Hurricane Dorian and it took my mind off the weather concerns. This is a clean read which will keep you engrossed throughout the book
Wow!! I have been waiting patiently or at least trying to, to read the latest Cliffside Bay story and boy was it ever worth the wait! I even put aside the other book that I had been reading as soon as I got Scarred: Trey and Autumn, which is very unusual for me. Once I started it yesterday I thought I would be able to savor it slowly but was so enthralled with it that I didn’t go to bed until the wee hours of the morning after reading the last page. I loved the characters and setting and went to sleep dreaming I was in Cliffside Bay! Let’s just say I woke up today with a big smile on my face!
Thank you so much to the very talented author Tess Thompson for allowing me to read an arc of this 5 star book!
This review is strictly my own opinion.
I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an awesome story with wonderful characters and an awesome setting. It made me smile, laugh out loud and cry. I was even frustrated in some parts wanting to have a talk to the characters a couple of times to set them straight, they were that real to me! This book can be read as a stand alone, but I recommend reading the series in order to get to know all of the characters that continue on throughout the series.
