For Autumn Hickman, online dating has been an exercise in nothing more than coffee and failure. There simply isn’t a man on the planet who can compare to her best friend, Trey Wattson. And while Trey is everything Autumn has ever wanted in a partner, she knows the man who loves life’s most beautiful things could never cherish anything as scarred and mangled as her. Trey Wattson is in love with … is in love with his best friend, but he can’t seem to reach her. She’s guarded, and for good reason, but Trey doesn’t care. He knows Autumn’s soul, and it’s the most beautiful thing he’s ever seen. Desperate to claim Autumn’s heart for his own, Trey conspires with The Wolves to create a fake profile on the dating site Autumn frequents. But the more Autumn trusts Trey’s online persona, the more it becomes clear that Trey is gambling with the very thing he wants most of all.
Return to Tess Thompson’s beloved Cliffside Bay and discover for yourself why true love is built on honesty and trust, and why best friends often make the very best life partners, in this anonymous online romance set in your favorite charming small town.

I loved this story! I’m a big fan of the Cliffside Bay series and this one was great! It was a beautiful, intense and emotional read. Trey and Autumn were amazing characters. I loved their story. It was one about heartbreak, pain, fear, hope and love. I love friends to lovers romance. This one was fantastic! If you’re a fan like me then Scarred: Trey and Autumn is the book for you!
A beautifully written story! Tess Thompson does it again! 🙂 Will Autumn and Trey become more than just friends? A story about overcoming your scars (internal and external) to let people in and let them love you for who you are. I absolutely love this series and this book ranks at the top of my favorites in the series. Although I’d recommend reading them in order this would read just fine as a stand alone as well.
P.S. Grab some tissues!
I loved this story, but man I was so mad that Trey was convinced to create that account. Especially that Autumn’s own brother was ok with it. I know they all care about her, but that was the wrong thing to do. Other than that, I did love that Trey and Autumn are best friends. That really ramps up the sweetness when they finally thank their feelings. I just adore these characters and this series so much.
This is my favorite book in the Cliffside series since Traded. Autumn and Trey both are scarred in their own way, and I can relate, Aren’t we all scarred in some way? The hint of mystery was there as well. I so admire Tess Thompson for her writing abilities. The book is a stand-alone, but so much better if the series is read in order.
Just finished reading Scarred, and I have to say that Tess Thompson has another winner set in Cliffside Bay.
All scars aren’t visible and whether visible or not, they are usually reminders of difficult times.
In this book we have the story of Autumn and Trey. Autumn was severely injured in a car crash as a teen in which her legs were severely injured and scarred. Trey on the other hand was scarred by the actions of his ex-wife.
They have become good friends. There’s just one problem, for Trey it’s much more than friendship. He’s in love with Autumn. The questions is can he convince Autumn to change their relationship. With a crazy idea from the Wolves, we watch as Trey works to win his lady.
This book is heartwarming. You’ll be endeared with Trey’s effort and be rooting for him all the way
Autumn has always been ashamed of her scars from the auto accident that crushed her legs when she was twelve. Trey has fallen for her and doesn’t care. But the few times she has gone out with men have ended badly when they see the scars. Can Trey make her see he cares for the beauty within her not what’s on the outside? When she starts online dating he knows he has to do something quick before he loses his chance with her. Another great story by Tess I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Yet another great story in the Cliffside Bay series! 5 amazing stars for this one!
If you’ve been reading along in this series, you know Autumn, and all that her and her brothers have been through. Shes looking for her perfect match like everyone else seems to be finding these days! So dating apps it is, but it’s one loser after another.
Her best friend Trey, helped her set up her dating profile, what was he thinking, he’s in love with her! Can he make her see that he is the one for her!
Read along and enjoy their story, I can’t wait for the next one in the series, and oh I never want it to end either!! Grab your copy asap!
This author seems to have a way with words. She writes books that are down home sweet with just a tiny bit of spice. It’s nice to read a book every so often that’s not over flowing with drama. The emotional pain in this book is what kept me coming back. Autumn was so mentally and physically scarred that she didn’t think anyone could really love her, especially someone as handsome and “perfect” as her best friend. She heard all the words people said but was so deep inside her own emotional pain that she refused to look beyond the surface level. I adored this woman and the struggles she went through. I just which she had found her emotional strength sooner as I kind of felt the story dragged on when I wanted them to get together. Trey was the typical guy in love with someone who had friend zoned him. He initiated didn’t try hard enough and gave up after one attempt to tell her his true feelings. Then he did something stupid to try and win her over. Honestly I understand why he did it, but also thought it was stupid. I also thought Autumn was a little to trustworthy right off the bat telling “Art” all her private and personal thoughts. He could easily have been a serial killer! In all this was a sweet enjoyable read. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.*
Sometimes you come across a book that reasonates so strongly with you that it it not only touches you emotionally, it feels like it moves in and takes over a piece of your heart. For me, this was one of those books. This friends to lovers romance is as beautiful as it is powerful. I thought that Trey and Autumn were wonderful characters. I adored them, felt for them and so badly wished I could have given them both a hug. Theirs is a story of scars (the ones you can see and those you can’t), pain, fear, hope and love. A truly amazing read! Of my own volition I am posting a sincere review.
I received this book from the author for an honest review.
Who would have known the love of your life could be right in front of you disguised as your best friend? Trey and autumn have been friends since they met. After Treys divorce, he swore off love. After Autumns accident she never thought she could find anyone who would love her with all her scars. Neither one of them thought they were worthy.
Trey finally go sick of watching Autumn go on dates she met online, so he did something about it. Why is it so much easier to tell a stranger your life story than the person you talk to daily? The truth always comes out.
Trey and Autumn’s story is about loving yourself after you’ve been broken and falling in love after you don’t think you can again. Just remember, the truth will always set you free.
If this book didn’t strike close to home, then i don’t know which one would! This was such an intense and addicting read made yet again by Tess. To say all her books are amazing is an understatement and deserves a word that’s not even made up to describe how wonderfully amazing her writing is. Definitely the next top seller!
We have all been impatiently waiting for Try ad Autumn’s story and it was definitely worth it! Once again we get to hang out in Cliffside Bay with the Wolves and once again we are transported to a world where no one lives a perfect life but everyone finds their happily ever after. Trey and Autumn are both scarred, Autumn’s scars may be physical while Trey’s are emotional however neither are dulled until they can admit the love they have for each other.
This book tugs on all the heart strings, I know you will love it as much as I did!
Scarred by Tess Thompson brings us back to our beloved Cliffside Bay. This is the story of Trey and Autumn and it’s just such a lovely love story. Best friends for life is what Trey and Autumn thought they were, but all their friends knew better. I have come to love all the characters from Cliffside Bay, and many of them from past books become a part of Trey and Autumn’s journey. So join me and come to Cliffside Bay. You won’t regret it! I love all of these books, it seems like each one is better than the last. Five stars once again for Tess Thompson!
Scarred is fantastic. I’ve fallen in love with Cliffside Bay even more with Scarred. Trey will melt your heart with how much Autumn means to him. It is heartwarming and oh so beautiful. The emotions you go through with Trey and Autumn you feel it in your soul. I love Trey even with the bad advice he was given by the Wolves and Dogs. Autumn she is sweet and a survivor. I love how we get to know her more through Scarred. This is such a beautiful read and tissues may be needed for how deep in the feelings you get with Autumn and Trey. I love everything Tess Thompson brings with Scarred.
There are times when you take a book journey that you fall more in love with the characters and the places they live each time you visit. This is one of those stories that did just that for me. A return to Cliffside Bay and spending time with Trey and Autumn in Scarred has touched me heart and soul. Tess Thompson brought me into the lives of these two characters completely with passion that made me yearn for them to find their way to each other’s hearts.
Trey and Autumn are best friends. They are comfortable with each other and do things together but they both have scars that have caused them to put up “walls” to protect themselves from being hurt. Trey wants to take it to the next level with Autumn, but he’s been hurt in a relationship before. His scars are internal. Autumn doesn’t feel like she’s beautiful enough for Trey because of scars from an accident. Hers are external. Can Trey find it in himself to heal his heart enough to risk it to Autumn? Can Autumn find the courage to reveal what she’s been hiding since the accident and trust Trey to accept her flaws? This story is one of letting go of painful pasts and heartaches. It’s one of finding forgiveness and hope. It’s a story that trust and faith in someone doesn’t come easy. Can true love overcome and break down the walls built from the scars each one bears?
“”We all have scars,” Lisa said.” “They make us human.”….”that everyone has scars. It’s what we choose to do with them that defines who we are.””
This is a great story that brings together all the characters who live in Cliffside Bay. They are friends and family that look out for each other and are connected by bonds of love and friendships. They are characters who have become like my family and friends. I love reconnecting with them in each and every book I read in this series. Tess Thompson has a wonderful gift of making these characters become living beings in my mind and I’m stepping into Cliffside Bay to be with them.
As I read this book, I turned each page knowing I was going to have my emotions tugged, my heart touched and my senses awakened. This book has surprises, twists, and drama I never saw coming. It has tenderness, romance, compassion, and hope. It has all the things that make a Tess Thompson novel one that I look forward to reading each and every time. She writes such beautiful passages that touch my heart. This one in particular:
“Shouldn’t that be how all love is? Unconditional? Even when we make mistakes, we’re still loved?”
I am honored to have read Tess Thompson’s Scarred: Trey and Autumn. I loved it from the first page to the last. I love going to Cliffside Bay and spending time there….and I’m excited for the next book in the series. Thank you, Ms. Thompson, for this wonderful read!
Scarred dares readers to be vulnerable and that makes for the best kind of storytelling. Thompson doesn’t hold anything back, she aims right for the heart and scores a direct hit. Trey and Autumn are a reminder of how beautiful love can be. If our emotions are willing to take the risk. My eyes have yet to dry from such a captivating, heartbreaking, soul shaking, magic carpet ride.
A trauma from when she was a teen left her scarred. Her physical scars and the reactions she expected have left her in hiding, covering herself from head to toe and make up for her face. Trey saw through it all and fell in love with the woman he truly saw. Unfortunately like all good stories, she has no idea. When the Wolves come up with a plan to help out their brother, well figure it out men don’t always have a clue. But that’s not all. As usual this author mixes things up well. We have some suspense, behind close doors romance (whew) and of course with this crew some laughter. When life hits them these wolves band together real time and get the job done.
Great story of friendship and love, support and mutual respect, keep this group growing strong. Great addition to the Cliffside Bay family. This standalone read (but so much better if you read them all) will leave you swooning for the guys and loving the girls that love them back. Read along and see why those scars on the outside hide a beauty that once realized over shadows the scars.
“Sometimes things have to be blown up in order for the right pieces to fit back together.”
Autumn feels that it’s her physical scars that block her from finding true love, but it turns out that the emotional scars from her childhood are much deeper, more raw, and far more of an obstacle to her believing that she can be loved. As a best friend, Trey is perfect because he’s made it clear that he’ll never again risk his heart in a relationship.
Only Trey made that decision before he met Autumn, and now he’s trying to dig himself out of the friend zone. All he has to do is show her that she’s not the only one with scars, and that it is their scars – their histories of what they’ve survived – that give them the uniquely-shaped edges to fit their lives together in an unbreakable bond.
In addition to Trey and Autumn’s standalone romance, we also get updates on several of the other couples and quite a few new people moving to Cliffside Bay. I love the emphasis on family, loyalty, and unconditional love that powers each of the story threads throughout this series. Every trip to this charming coastal town is like a beautiful, heartwarming homecoming. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Scarred brings us back to the wonderful town of Cliffside Bay and into the lives of the friends and families that live there. This is one of my favorite friends to lovers stories. Even though Trey and Autumn have been best friends for a long time they each carry scars from their past. What they needed to figure out was that
everyone carries scars, some are obvious external scars and others we carry inside our hearts and souls. Either way they impact how we see ourselves and react to others. The only way these two would be able to move on from friends to lovers was to realize it’s ok to show vulnerability and that those scars you see as big and important are not as big of a deal to the other person. It is call unconditional acceptance and true love when you see past it all.
The Cliffside Bay series continues with the story of Trey and Autumn.
Trey and Autumn friendship quickly leads to love, but neither one of them can own up to their feelings for the other. Autumn has dealt with a lot of rejection in her life making it hard for her to open up and let someone near her emotionally. Trey first marriage ended in his wife having an affair resulting in divorce that left him bitter and resentful of love.
The more time they spend together the more their feelings deepen and the relationship evolves.
I have loved every couple in the Cliffside Bay series and the stories of how they have come together. I could never pick a favorite, but if I had to this one would be towards the top.
