For Autumn Hickman, online dating has been an exercise in nothing more than coffee and failure. There simply isn’t a man on the planet who can compare to her best friend, Trey Wattson. And while Trey is everything Autumn has ever wanted in a partner, she knows the man who loves life’s most beautiful things could never cherish anything as scarred and mangled as her. Trey Wattson is in love with … is in love with his best friend, but he can’t seem to reach her. She’s guarded, and for good reason, but Trey doesn’t care. He knows Autumn’s soul, and it’s the most beautiful thing he’s ever seen. Desperate to claim Autumn’s heart for his own, Trey conspires with The Wolves to create a fake profile on the dating site Autumn frequents. But the more Autumn trusts Trey’s online persona, the more it becomes clear that Trey is gambling with the very thing he wants most of all.
Return to Tess Thompson’s beloved Cliffside Bay and discover for yourself why true love is built on honesty and trust, and why best friends often make the very best life partners, in this anonymous online romance set in your favorite charming small town.

I’d have to say that Tess Thompson’s Cliffside Bay series is atop favorite of mine! The story of Trey and Autumn was so sweet and heartbreaking at the same time! This story was definitely relatable for anyone, because we all have scars both outward and inward that we hide and leave us feeing vulnerable and unloved. But Trey’s love for Autumn proved that anything can be overcome when you truly love someone.
Beautiful story and a definite favorite of the collection!
Tess does a brilliant job delving into the different ways a person can be scarred. Trey and Autumn are best friends but both want more. Yet, because of their scarred pasts, they are hesitant to reveal their true selves. Only after some coaxing from friends do the duo begin to think about exposing themselves. Scarred is a feel good heart warming tale of love. Mix in a few twists and a side of suspense and you have the perfect weekend novel. Although its an 8 in a series, it can be read as a stand alone.
**** I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review ****
This series just keeps getting better and better. The stories of the characters of Cliffside Bay are a joy to read. Trey and Autumn’s story is no exception. This best friends romance helps these two see past their own scars and the love they feel for each other. With their friends it’s also very entertaining. I always keep an eye out for Tess’s next book.
I’ve truly enjoyed this whole series. Each book seems to get better and more intense. This one is no exception. It’s well written and the characters are so likable that you will feel like you live right in the middle of Cliffside Bay. Each character adds their own special touch to the books and makes you want the next one all the more.
I rooted for Trey and Autumn all the way through this book. I didn’t approve of the crazy things Trey did and wish he would not have gone about things the way he did. That is just me though. I took it completely as being dishonest and I do not like dishonesty in any form. I know there are times when a person may feel like they have no choice but to keep secrets from the one they love but I wish they would not do that. Honesty is just so important in a relationship. I love Trey and Autumn. I root for them to make it and have the life they deserve.
Each character plays such an important part in each book and this one is no exception. It’s a very realistic story with lovable couples and new couples being added each time. Through heartaches and sorrows. Through breakups and weddings. To births and deaths, this series will keep you coming back for me.
I have to say thank you to one of my very favorite authors, #Tess Thompson and to MaryAnn Schaefer for this ARC in exchange for my complete and honest review.
A huge 5 stars for this book and I highly recommend this and the whole series to everyone.
Scarred: Trey and Autumn by Tess Thompson is book 8 in the Cliffside Bay series. It could be read as a stand-alone book, but is made even better by reading the other Cliffside Bay books first.
Scarred is another great read by Ms. Thompson! I really enjoyed following Autumn and Trey as they go from friendship to love. I love getting glimpses of the other characters’ lives, as well.
Ms. Thompson continues to make me feel like I’m walking into a group of my old friends with each new Cliffside Bay book that she writes.
I received an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
This book is so very special.
Tears! ALL THE TEARS!!
As an avid romance reader, there is a certain “true love” quality I ache to feel as I read. This was it. This book was the ultimate, deep down, raw, true love adventure that I’ve been searching for. This book pulled me in and it never let me go. What an awesome emotional roller coaster I was just on. With the twists and turns and the high and the lows… I could NOT stop!
Tess Thompson made me feel SO much. She weaves a truly special tale that had me in tears one second and pumping my fist in the air the next, as I was rooting on Autumn. These characters! Tess Thompson makes them come alive. Holy crap, the love I feel for them is so true and so real.
This is a book that needs to be read! You NEED this book in your life. Settle back my friends and savor every single second of this one!!

Once again Tess brings us another heartwarming story from Cliffside Bay. Trey and Autumn’s story is heartbreaking and beautiful. It took me on one heck of an emotional rollercoaster of a ride. Make sure you have your tissues ready when you start this And nothing else planned for the rest of your day . If Tess Thompson is a new author to you don’t worry you can jump right in with book 8 and not be lost. While Scarred can be read as a stand alone ,once you visit Cliffside Bay you will not want to leave. Each story is beautiful in its own way and wrote with so much emotion. You can really tell this author pours her heart and soul into each story. Highly recommend this entire series. Thank you Tess for such a wonderful story. Can’t wait for the next one! I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.
Tess Thompson continues the Cliffside Bay series giving another two damaged souls a second chance at love. Her characters, this time Trey and Autumn are both scarred: Autumn from a life-threatening car accident at the age of 14, and Trey from a cheating ex-wife. Set amidst the beauty of a small town in Northern California that is peopled with all the characters we’ve met in the earlier books, this book tells how best friends find the courage to let their friendship flourish into love … with some help from the rangy Wolves of Cliffside Bay and an online dating site. The book also hints at the next couple lining up to tell their own story, so get ready for another Tess Thompson bumpy ride that ends in true love.
Besides Duet for Three Hands, the Cliffside Bay series is my favorite read by Tess Thompson. This newest installment in the series does not disappoint. Follow Trey and Autumn as they learn to look past their scars, and find true love in their best friend. Two Thumbs Up. Highly Recommend.
Another wonderful story from Tess Thompson. Scarred is the story of Autumn and Trey, and of course there are some of the delightful characters from previous books in this series. I love the coastal setting, the tight knit friendships and families, their beautiful homes, the food, the wine…all told through Thompson’s flawless and descriptive prose. Emotional, touching, thought provoking. Anyone who loves a good contemporary romance with just enough humor, drama, and heat needs to read this. The whole series, actually. In order. Although it works as a standalone too. I loved it!
All the feels!! Trey and Autumn are perfectly imperfect! I almost felt like I was Autumn while reading this book. I felt what she felt throughout the whole book whether it was happy or sad, she was so relatable. I love that she was not your typical “perfect” character! It’s almost impossible to keep a good series going for EIGHT books, but Tess Thompson has done it! I can’t wait for the next one!
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my unbiased review.
Tess Thompson truly writes the sweetest couples! Every book in the Cliffside Bay series just keeps getting better and better!
Scarred is a best friends to lovers romance. Autumn and Trey are a very sweet couple with massive vulnerabilities due to scars they carry both inside and out. They both carry fears of abandonment as well, which makes taking the first step towards something more than friendship even harder for them.
Scarred is a lovely slow burn of a romance. What I really loved was how all the ladies support Autumn in making her feel comfortable with her scars by baring their own vulnerabilities. I also loved how the guys came together to support Trey in his quest for finding a way to make Autumn understand just how much he wants her . . . it’s not what you expect from a group of gus, and it made for a great romance.
Autumn trusts Trey from the start and watching her slowly open up to him more and more was beautiful. And, Trey is as patient as can be. He knows he and Autumn are soul mates, he just needs a chance to prove it to her. The ending of Scarred goes out with a real bang and readers will be thrilled with how this romance plays out. 4.5 stars.
I received an ARC copy from the Author for my review.
Another winner from Tess Thompson. Autumn and Trey consider each other to be best friends. Trey is determined for their relationship to be more serious. Each carries scars in their own way. Autumn’s are physical the result of a horrendous car crash. She hides behind long skirts and pants, considering herself to flawed for love. Treys scars are on the inside the result of a bitter divorce from his cheating ex-wife. When Trey’s father suffers a heart attack, when he is with his girlfriend, Trey becomes more determined to win over Autumn. His friends The Dogs cook up a plan for Trey to establish an online connection with Autumn under the screen name Art. Will their relationship survive and can Autumn stay safe from a potential stalker?
Life is often like a comedic tragedy. How we see ourselves often keeps us from truly living our lives fully. Be the sins of our pasts, or the sins of others…our pasts dictate our present and our future. No one is sheltered from pain.
Trey is madly in love with Autumn, but he can’t seem to reach her. Autumn madly in love with Trey, but she can’t see it. She only sees the scars that leave her unworthy of man like Trey. So, she goes on coffee dates with men, who never measure up to the man she desires. And, she wonders why she can’t find someone….the one.
Once again, Tess Thompson paints a beautifully crafted story that tugs at every emotion.
Trey and Autumn’s story is so sweet. The book is aptly named Scarred because both Trey and Autumn are walking around emotionally scarred and Autumn with physical scars. To see them so comfortable with one another as friends is heart-warming. They genuinely care for one another but Autumn is afraid to take it to the next level. Trey is just the sweetest guy. I found myself rooting for them the whole time. The whole storyline reminded me of an 80’s romcom. Sweet, light, happy ending, likeable characters. In a word Scarred is charming. It will not disappoint!
This book can be read as a stand alone but as someone addicted to the series, and watching Trey and Autumn as best friends, I’ve been waiting for them to make a move! When Trey finally does make that move, boy…what a mess! Tess Thompson is so very good at taking readers on an emotional rollercoaster on the ride to true love. I love how complex this book gets. Then, it brings you back and gives you all. The. Feels. I definitely recommend this book and series. I can’t wait for the next one!
Scarred: Trey and Autumn was such a heartwarming story. Both Trey and Autumn are looking for their true love – but they have been scarred in different ways and seems to be hindering their ability to find their soul mate. Could their true love be closer than they think? This story shows that everyone has some sort of scar in their life and it might not always be physical. We all need to find a way to accept them to find our true happiness – but our scars also make us who we are – beautiful in so many other ways.
Although this book could be read as a stand alone – I highly recommend the book be read in order. Other characters are mentioned and we are treated to some wonderful updates of what has been happening in Cliffside Bay.
Thank you Tess for the ARC and I am looking forward to reading book 9!
It was about time these two hot together. They were best friends that had different scars but secretly in love with each other. They didn’t want to lose the other as friend but Trey couldn’t stand back and watch Autumn try to date. They got close but then thinks went south. There was an incident that opened up her eyes and realized hat what Trey did was out of love.
I received a review copy before release for an honest review.
Trey and Autumn was an amazing story. They both are very scarred one on the inside and one on the outside. This story is more about the fact that everyone has scars, some we can see and some that are invisible and on our inside but no one is perfect we all have our imperfections and they all make us pretty wonderful.
This is prob one of my new favorites in this series. Autumn kinda broke my heart a little at how something that happened when she was 14, was still causing her so much agony. She is a beautiful person inside and out but all she ever saw was how ugly her legs were.
Trey is in love with Autumn but because she only sees her scars and not his scars, she cannot see how much he loves her, This is a story about opening your eyes to the love that exists in the world and seeing that we all have something we hate about ourselves but we are still worthy of finding love.
It was a wonderful story and I loved seeing all my favorite characters and watching them grow and change as life happens for them.
Scarred Autumn and Trey
Cliffside Bay book 8
Another beautiful story from Tess Thompson. If you have ever had your heart shattered, you know how hard it is to learn to trust again. This is how it was for Trey and Autumn. Will they be able to overcome this big obstacle or will they remain in the friend zone.
Scarred is another story set in beautiful Cliffside bay with a familiar set of characters. This book can be read alone, but in my opinion, it is best read in order with the other books in the series so you get all of the backstories.
I read this book in a day and couldn’t put it down. It will tug at your heart and make you smile. I loved this book! (and all of the other Cliffside Bay stories!)
